very busy road with fast traffic Hard to walk along Very woodsy great access to day trips Bar Harbor from Winter Harbor Ferry. We do not have Roku so could not watch TV

The house was overall a nice place for three adults to stay. It’s VERY secluded, which we didn’t mind. One major critique is that the listing says “at the beach” and it is very much in the middle of Sorrento with no water in sight.
Some small repairs would go a long way. Lights and fans that didn’t work, beams that fell off kitchen cabinets (one that almost hit me in the head), etc. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable.

Our stay was ok, but nothing to write home about. The listing looks idyllic and gives the impression it’s a beautiful quiet setting. The home sits right on the road. There is a hedge to give some sense of privacy, but you’ll see and hear every car or bike that goes by.
The home is tired and has obvious wear and tear of being a rental. Several of the windows are missing screens and are unable to be opened. We never got the family room ceiling fan to work. This was a problem because the home doesn’t have air conditioning. Most of the time, that should be fine. In July with temps always above 80, it was miserably hot and humid.
We knew going in that the house was a good drive to Acadia. We planned for it. If you want to be close to the park, this is not the rental for you. It’s at least 45 minutes to Mount Desert Island if not longer with traffic. In that sense, this home is away from it all, including restaurants.
In terms of cleanliness, we arrived midweek the night before trash collection. I messaged that not all the trash would be picked up because it wasn’t tagged and ready to go. I was told not to worry about it and anything not collected the property manager would come get. I was under the impression that meant someone would tale care of it the next day. Instead I messaged again a couple days later before it was picked up and we were no longer smelling it. There’s mold in the showers and in the washing machine as well.
Again, just ok.

We had a nice time in Maine. The house was fine for our stay. We visited Acadia most days and the location was an hour from MDI. Even though the only tv was in the basement, we were busy outdoors and really didn't miss it.
4.8
The hosts were easy-going and unintrusive. We spent the trip making day visits to Bar Harbor and within Acadia, and the evenings relaxing with a fire. Good heating, plenty of space to spread out for three of us, and clear instructions.

Had a wonderful long weekend stay. Plenty in the house to keep the kids entertained, and relaxing environment for the parents.

Very nicely built post and beam house. Clean and well stocked. Peaceful rustic location. Beautiful backyard. Parking space for 2 vehicles. Owners easy to communicate with and very responsive. Would stay again if in the area.

The home and property were beautiful and well designed. Its a lovely home with plenty of room for 4 adults and one child. The property was a little closer to the road than we expected. The overhead light in living room had at least one bulb missing which made the room a little dim for reading etc at night.

Nice place, clean, and quiet.

The house was more than accomodating and truly felt like a home away from home. We came to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia NP with our friends and pups. The location was very quiet and just what we needed after spending a few days visiting the busy town of Bar Harbor. The Winter Harbor part of Acadia was super close and such a nice part of the park since it was not very touristy and more geared to the outdoor enthusiasts.
The house was very tidy, the rooms were comfortable and the outdoor space was perfect for evening chats around the fire. The local store Dunbar's was our favorite place to get some local baked goods and seafood during our stay.
Overall, Post and Beam was in fact a hiker's dream and we enjoyed our time! Thank you

We had the best time in your serene location. Cute house, as advertised, and centrally located to both parts of Acadia National Park- though both are about a 20-30 minute drive.

Place was very clean and comfortable. Property management team of Susan and Jessica was awesome, looking out for us during hurricane Lee.

We surprised my father in law with a trip to Acadia for his birthday. Rather than staying at a local hotel, we thought it would be fun to stay at the Post & Beam so that we could spend lots of time together, but still have our own spaces. Plus, we were able to bring the dogs! This home is close to many things, including Ellsworth, Schoodic, and Acadia and served as a great home base for our daily adventures downeast. Beds were comfortable, the deck offered a great place to relax, and the kitchen had all the basics that we needed. Susan, the property manager, was delightful to work with and was extremely responsive and efficient. I would recommend staying here if you’re looking for a home away from home experience.

It was a beautiful home with more then enough space. Very clean. Great place to relax.

Accomodations were comfortable. Property is beautiful. House is very noisy and the lighting situation was sub par. We found several spiders in the house.

House is beautiful. Anything you need is included. Close to everything but quiet and secluded. Took our two dogs and they just loved the place. Just take the advice to treat your pups for ticks. They're really bad up there.

Disappointing manageress lacking empathy.

This home is so unique and beautiful. Well stocked kitchen, cozy living room and spacious bedrooms made this a perfect way to spend our Christmas away from home. The all house generator kept us up and running through the windstorm and the wood stove kept us warm. We woke to a white Christmas. Susan was responsive and helped us out with any issues we had.

We loved this house! Favorites included the TV room and pool table in the basement, the cozy reading room/sunroom, the fire pit and the comfy couch with the big windows. The kitchen is small but adequate, and dogs would need to be leashed/ on a line outdoors if you bring them (the road is right next to the house and cars come by fast). It's about 40 minutes to Acadia, and the local convenience store had most of what we needed for basic cooking. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Everything about this place was awesome! Great location to see the sites nearby. Amenities were more than expected. We had a great time!

Beds are very, very firm. Reminder that TV is in the basement. This property is right off the road, but not much road noise. They were very responsive with issues we had with plumbing.

Different experience being away from Bar Harbor. We have enjoyed the solitude of the area and quiet part of the Acadia. The property is very clean and has all conveniences of home away from home.

Great location; very quiet.

Great House! Very cozy and had what would be needed for a Maine vacation!

Good location, great outdoor space
I stayed in this house with my husband an four year old daughter. It was a good location in that it was near many things to do--we drove about a half hour for a Puffin tour, and about 40 minutes to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
4.8
Comfortable beds, good separate spaces, nice kitchen.

Nice place - very secluded
Beautiful property, a little further from Acadia and Bar Harbor then expected, but very quiet and secluded. Very overgrown when we arrived but situation was taken care of after a quick call to the property manager. Make sure you bring your bug spray if you plan on sitting outside. We did not use the basement area at all spent the majority of our time by the fire pit and we were not able to get the BBQ charcoals to stay hot enough to cook anything, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Wish we could have stayed longer, it was a very nice cabin... perfect for 4.

We can say enough good things about Susan and Michele. They were easy to contact and quick to respond. The post and beam house has a spacious feel and well thought out design. The house was thoroughly cleaned, bathrooms nice as pictured. The beds were comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the deck listening to the small brook and birds singing. We even got to enjoy sitting around the wood stove on a rainy day. The area has a good selection of stores within 10-15 min radius. Parts of Schoodic park 15 min drive and Mt. Desert Island was about a 35 min. drive with no traffic. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We were two couples and a sister in law all north of 40 looking for a peaceful winter escape from work and renovations and we found it here. The place is a very cute and tidy post snd beam house only 35-40 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. Ellsworth is just up the road with Walmart, Home Depot, and more. The kitchen is well equipped and was spotless in arrival, the beds were comfortable and clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. Checkin was an easy procedure, and I was mesmerized watching the woodstove on a cold afternoon. I highly recommend this spot for folks looking to get away to down east maine!
