A week back from an unparalleled family vacation at La Villa Bonita and we are still talking about the delicious foods we prepped and cooked, from the basic guacamole and salsa verde to tamales, mole and posole rojo flavored by the pig head we bought that morning at the local market. The charming market town of Tepoztlan is a maze of cobbled streets and alleyways bustling with activity and only a 10-15 minute walk from the villa. The hospitality and warmth of Ana, Robb and all their staff (who were more like family than employees) were so genuine and authentic that we started our vacation as guests with drinks and appetizers in their open-air kitchen but left feeling like members of their extended family.
A week at LVB is a unique travel experience perfectly suited for singles, couples, families, and groups who are tired of a traditional vacation get-away in the US, Caribbean, or Europe. We felt completely safe as we traveled by foot and taxi and found the people of Tepoztlan to be warm and friendly despite our very poor Spanish language skills, and always managed to communicate with charades and smiles. The variety of activities available (including the option of total ‘downtime’ relaxing on the grounds of the La Villa Bonita paradise) should appeal to any traveler from the experienced home cook to the person who just wants to eat well during an authentic cultural immersion vacation.
