About this farm stay rental
Named after Brigadoon, an enchanted place where life is simpler and easier, untouched by the worries of the modern world. You'll understand why when you stay in my peaceful, serene, fully renovated 1850s farmhouse, which is set far back from the main road leading to and from Woodstock, NY. The best of all worlds, it's about 2 minutes from the center of town, and right on the bus route from NYC. But sitting on the front porch overlooking a giant secluded meadow, you can enjoy total privacy from noise and neighbors, and have a complete relaxing country experience. It's across the street from the Dixon Roadside trendy restaurant and bar, a 5-minute walk to gourmet streamside dining at the Bear Cantina, and a 5-minute walk to Sunfrost Farms vegetable market and The Cub Market, where you can also enjoy breakfast and The New York Times. You can walk to the Bear Complex to enjoy Nancy's Ice Cream, world-class musicians at the famous Bearsville Theatre, and jazz brunches outside on Sundays. This house is perfect for skiers (Hunter, Belleayre, and Windham nearby), festival goers (Film Festival, Bookfest, Comedy Festival, Luthiers, Festival of the Voice, etc.), music lovers or recording groups, and families looking for a charming Woodstock getaway or couples seeking a total romantic country experience. The house is warm in winter, cool in summer, and full of light and open space. It's uncluttered, classic wood and white, and supremely serene. Visitors often spot deer, the occasional black bear, foxes, turkeys, and hawks in the nearby woods and meadow while sipping a cocktail at dusk on the front porch. Amenities include Weber gas bbq grill, outdoor fireplace for marshmallow roasting, a bluestone patio with outdoor dining, a giant clawfoot bathtub, and washer/dryer. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you could want, from a pizza stone to a cake decorating kit, Nespresso machine to a Cuisineart. There is a gas fireplace, central air-conditioning, business center with printer, free wifi, cable TV with Showtime and HBO, indoor games, outdoor lawn games, and a sprinkler for little ones' summer fun. If my house doesn't have it, just ask and I'll get it for you.

The house was amazing. The space was well maintained and the hot tub was glorious! We were hoping for a lovely restful, fun month long vacation and Brigadoon delivered.
Gail was a great host---very responsive, warm and attentive. We really appreciated the new gas grill----just the extra touch you can only hope for in a host!!! I would highly recommend this house and I will definitely come back!!!

We had a marvelous month-long sojourn at the remarkable Brigadoon. We were 4 adults and one child, several of us working from home. We loved being minutes from downtown Woodstock, as well as within walking distance of a wonderful farm stand. Our 4-year old spent many afternoons playing ball in the large meadow, well maintained thanks to an efficient landscaping team. We loved watching the turkey and deer families grazing by, and the woodchucks scurrying, all from a cozy porch swing. The house is in fabulous condition, with all the modern conveniences, all within the solid bones of an old farm house. Gail is a generous and thoughtful host; whenever we had a question or a request, she would zip over in minutes. The kitchen has ample counter space for preparing family meals; and plenty of room for multiple chefs to work simultaneously. We enjoyed several cool nights out by the fire pit. We can’t wait to be back.

We were so happy and comfortable here - and felt so cared for by the truly special owner! Everything we could possibly need was in the house and if it wasn't, Gail made sure to provide it within a day. The house is aptly named "Brigadoon" but we often referred to it as "Shangri La".

Brigadoon made for an idyllic weekend getaway. The house was well stocked with everything from games to puzzles to everything we needed for homemade pizza night. Gail was very helpful and communicative throughout the stay.

My family and I had a lovely stay over the thanksgiving weekend. Gail was a wonderful host and the house was clean, spacious and comfortable. Also a very close distance to town and restaurants. The views from the property were beautiful and My kids loved watching the deer from the bedrooms. We would definitely return!

Spent a long weekend with the family for a birthday. The location was great - close to town but set back and felt secluded. The house has a great layout perfect for a family or a a few couples. The common area is open and the 1st floor bedroom suite is private. Extremely clean and well cared for. The type of place you wouldnt mind getting snowed in during the winter with warm fireplace and cozy finishes. The owner was great to deal with - very easy check in and provided great tips about the area during our stay. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

My family and I recently stayed at Brigadoon for our annual family vacation. The house is pristine with an open concept which is great for everyone being together. The pictures don't do the house justice. The bedrooms are all a good size and the first floor master is huge with an up dated master bath. The yard is big enough to send the kids outside to throw a ball and run off some energy. Even though the house in on the main street there's a large meadow in the front thats a buffer from any noise.
Overall we had an amazing time and the house exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back!
Also I want to give a shout out to the owner Gail. She was so wonderful when we had an issue with a late check out. She saved us a lot of stress. Thanks again Gail!

My husband and I traveled to Brigadoon with my parents, brother and sister-in-law for a 3 night getaway over July 4. The house was perfect for us, and in a great location.
All 3 bedrooms were good size with queen beds, and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor living space for 6 adults! The fire pit was a great addition to our evenings. The house is completely stocked with everything you need, and there are nearby stores for groceries if you don’t bring your own.
The house is on a main road, but situated far enough back on the property that the nearby traffic was white noise. It’s only a few minute drive to town, where you’ll find local shops, restaurants and live music.
Gail (the host) was easy to contact leading up to our stay and while we were there. Aside from the regular house instructions she leaves for guests, she left us a personalized list of venues to check out live music, which I had asked for a couple days before our trip.
We had a great stay and would definitely return!!

Our family of 3 adults and 3 kids spent Christmas at Brigadoon and could not have been happier. The house is beautiful and cozy - kitchen is huge and had everything we needed, beds are comfy, location is perfect. We were hoping for snow but instead enjoyed the nearby hiking. Gail was such a great host - easy to communicate with, gave lots of helpful local info and accommodated a last minute change of plans. We would love to come back next year!

We absolutely loved our experience at Brigadoon. All the bedrooms were nice (no one got the “short stick”), the kitchen was fully stocked, everything was emaculate and clean, and although you did get to feel like you were in a far flung spot, town was just a few minutes away.
Other niceties include quick WiFi, a gas fireplace that keeps things nice and warm, cable tv, extensive grounds for a walk, and a great open concept first floor.
Highly recommended.

Absolutely lovely!!! I wish I could give it 6stars. The house itself is a original Woodstock farmhouse that has been beautifully reimagined.
The kitchen/dining room are stylish, bright and very well equipped. The master bedroom/bathroom downstairs is amazing. The Upstairs bedrooms are equally as lovely. All the bedding was plush and the
mattresses were comfy.
I wish we could have stayed longer and just hung out. The property is
beautiful and very conveniently located-one mile down the road from town. This is the Perfect Woodstock getaway! We will be back, hopefully often.
