About this house rental
An old stone terrace cottage , with all the character you would expect from an historic property built in 1759. This delightful spot has fantastic views from the lounge and the front bedrooms, situated as it is in the heart of the West Yorkshire countryside and the Hamlet of Oldfield. With 2 wood burning stoves (one with small oven), stone walls, exposed beams and a relaxing vibe, this house is not only peaceful but near to walks, cafés, pubs and restaurants and is also a popular cycling area. The cottage has a raised platform outside with benches, unfortunately not the garden in front, but with the countryside literally on the doorstep and a small park 100 metres away there is plenty of outdoor space to relax in. There is also an outbuilding that can be used as a bicycle store for up to 3 bikes if requested. If you want to just relax, this is a fantastic property to re energise your soul.

Lovely stay only fault was I couldn’t find a phone number to contact the owner and the paths were over grown with nettles

The cottage was just as described: clean, well equipped and plenty of character. The large lounge was very comfortable and had wonderful views. It was a great cottage to return to after days out, and Holmfirth had plenty to explore. Overall a lovely stay

Loved our stay in Holmfirth with family members. Great to catch up and have fun together after so long. The views are amazing! Beautiful cottage. Stairs very steep and low ceilings which are typical of the era. Be careful if you’re a bit older though. Recommended.

mini getaway
A charming character property within its own small hamlet, homing lovely helpful people. Pristine and well equipped, the cottage provides tranquillity and calm. Country walks are plentiful and on your doorstep. A must for anyone who wants to leave the 'rat race' behind. Nearby Homefirth a 'must' to visit. Highly recommended.

Great cottage to stay in
The cottage was ideal for our holiday, after a busy day walking and sightseeing was perfect to come and relax.
There is no garden but fields out the front door to be able to regularly walk the dogs.
It is in walking distance to the local shop, cafe and pub, and a short walk to Holmfirth across fields, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.
I would definitely visit and recommend to others.

Pleasant experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Weaver’s Cottage. It has everything needed for a really good break away, the beds are very comfortable, it was dark and quiet at night, it was very hot weather when we stayed, so we had the windows wide open all night, nothing to disturb us all night, just perfectly peaceful! Loved the three storeys with the living room being on the first floor with a fabulous view across the fields. Kitchen has everything needed to cook meals. Friendly neighbours. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a lovely home in a beautiful setting.

Perfect retreat
We used Dave's place as a base for exploring the Peak District over a weekend. It is perfect. Lovely accommodation. The kitchen and dining area are perfect for family dinners and get togethers. Superb lounge area for TV and games and very comfortable rooms. The views are amazing and we walked into Honley for a meal or two at the restaurants.
Highly recommended.

Perfect peaceful escape
We chose to stay in this lovely place over Christmas this year (three adults, a 12 year old and a dog) and it was well beyond our expectations. The property is spotlessly clean, well organised and equipped with everything you could need. We were even provided with a gorgeous Christmas tree, decorations, table centre piece, and festive lights. Dave and Gail are brilliant owners, they reply super fast to every query and were incredibly helpful. There are detailed instructions for every appliance and guides to every room, as well as the local area including maps for walks!
All the linen provided was really lovely and fresh with cosy bedding too. The fires are super easy to light and created a homely festive atmosphere. The location is tranquil and pretty, but not too isolated.
The only slight issue was had was that the property was a bit tricky to find initially, but it was so worth it! Would definitely stay again.

Well equipped cottage with lovely views.
Had a really nice short break here. Of all the cottages I've ever stayed in this was the best equipped one and had the biggest selection of stuff you need in a cottage when you get there. Often you get a bare minimum of anything, but here there was plenty of everything you needed. Even the TV was great, usually you get some cheap smallish TV with minimal freeview channels, but here it was a big one with Netflix and Amazon. Internet speed was also more than acceptable. I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV and surf the internet, but it's great it being there and to me is a perfect combination of modern living in a lovely old cottage.
Cottage itself was very nice, on 3 floors with the bedrooms all being on the top floor, living room and bathroom on middle floor and kitchen and dining room on bottom floor. Bathroom and kitchen very modern. And the views from the front of the house were lovely over the hills and fields.
Was there during the hottest week of the year and whilst I appreciate that this may not be an usual situation in the UK, the thick stone walls kept it relatively cool. There were also plenty of new radiators in the place as well so I'm sure it will be nice and warm during normal UK weather if needed.
Lots of nice walks nearby starting at the cottage. Honley is nearby and a nice little town with some great places to eat (try the Tapas place).
We went with our dog and I suppose the only slight downside is that there is no outside space with the cottage for the dog to be let loose in and only a front door. But we knew that beforehand and it wasn't an issue, the neighbours all seemed very friendly and there's only ever going to be one car driving in front of the house, so it's safe for dogs/kids out the front.
There seemed to be a mixture of locals and holiday lets in the small settlement where the cottage is. You park on the road about 200 yards from the cottage, but again that is not an issue as it isn't far, there are several cars there doing the same and there's plenty of space to park on the road. The parking spaces near the cottages seemed to be reserved, rightly so, for the locals. But you can drive to the cottage to load and unload.
So really enjoyed my stay, well worth booking if you are thinking of staying in this area.

Spectacular cottage with many thoughtful touches
Really lovely cottage. Spacious, warm, beautifully fitted out with everything you’d need from cafetière to chromecast.
Lovely thoughtful extras including scones, cream and Prosecco on arrival and bathroom extras. Great instructions and contact from the owners. The cottage is an easy walk to Holmfirth and there is a bus stop outside too (the weather got the better of us so we got a bus from Holmfirth back )
The pictures don’t do the house justice. The views are wonderful too. Would stay here again without hesitation.
