About this cottage rental
Located on the mainland at the Ocean's edge in a beautiful cove looking out at Clark Island and the open sea, our cottage was built in the classic rustic Maine style of the mid twentieth Century. The Township of Clark Island is one of a group of small Towns located on the St. George Peninsula. The peninsula is alive with boaters, bicycle clubs on vacation and legions of kayakers visiting Penobscot Bay.
From the little lobstering village of Port Clyde at one end (with daily ferry service to Monhegan Island) to the Town of Rockland at the other end (in 2009 voted the second best small town to live in in the USA by Budget Travel; ) the whole area is considered the heart of mid-coast Maine. At the foot of the road the cottage is located on, there is the Craignair Inn of Clark Island, with a gourmet restaurant. This area is why they call Maine 'Vacationland, where life is the way it ought to be.'
Easy to get to: Knox County airport is 5 miles from the cottage, with up to 8 direct flights daily to Boston's Logan airport on Cape Air Airlines. Under $70 each way, with car rental available at airport. Or drive from Boston in under 4 hours.
Ferry to Nova Scotia from Rockland. Hourly, daily or weeklong schooner tours from Rockland and Camden.

Great location if you like privacy, access to walking trails, watching the tide come and go, watching for wildlife, walking to a very nice restaurant. This is our 5th? year staying at this cottage, nothing fancy but a comfortable place to vacation, the kitchen is nicely equipped to whip up just about anything. You are not too far away from Thomaston and Rockland, 15 minutes to each, for groceries, restaurants and shops. Easy living!

This is the second time we have stayed at this house. It is clean and comfortable and has all the comforts of home. The view at the house is wonderful and we really enjoy watching the tide come in and go out and the lobster boats coming by to set and retrieve their traps. This house is on dead end street and is very private and quiet. We love the location, as it's only about 20 minutes to Rockland. There's an excellent restaurant (The Causeway Restaurant at Craignair Inn) maybe a quarter mile away, as well as the causeway to walk out to Clarke Island. There are Adirondack chairs and a picnic table outside so you can enjoy the view in nice weather. If it's buggy (which it was the first time we stayed but not this time), there's a screened in porch, and if the weather's not the greatest, you can still enjoy the view through large windows while sitting on the couch. Communication with the owners was easy. We had a wonderful vacation!

A beautiful private waterfront location. Well equipped house, spacious and comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay! The views were amazing and we loved sitting on the screened-in porch. We ventured up to Acadia one day, did a puffin tour another, and visited several lighthouses. But mostly we just enjoyed the view from the house. Kitchen had just about everything we could need, and we appreciated having towels and bedding provided -- one less thing to pack! We walked several times to the causeway and enjoyed the beach area there. Thank you for allowing us to bring our dog -- she liked her time there too!

The McConchie's cottage is everything we'd hoped for and more. The McConchie's were very responsive to any questions or requests we made. The cottage is comfortable, well stocked and situated in the most perfect wonderful spot overlooking the water.
It was difficult to pull ourselves away from the screened in porch overlooking the ocean, breathing in the salt air, but we did, and were rewarded with wonderful kayaking trips, hikes and runs on Clark Island trails and amazing food at the restaurants nearby.
We definitely want to return. This is a special place. Thank you for making it available.

Mornings were spent on the screened porch viewing fishing boats, sunrises, diving loons and tides. Early evenings were enjoyed doing more of the same. Dining on lobsters at the picnic table near the fire pit and rocky shore was perfection. We enjoyed the privacy of our location as well as taking walks along the dirt road passing and greeting neighbors. Ocean, books, games and dear friends in a very comfortably furnished cottage made a memorable vacation … thank you McConchie Family. We hope to return.

Beautiful, private location on the ocean with wonderful views of Clark Island and beyond. Comfortably furnished and equipped. Very nice screened porch. Excellent dog-walking opportunities on the quiet, well-maintained dirt road and on Clark Island. Best dog park in Maine twenty minutes away in Thomaston. An additional light at front door might be helpful.
Hope to return to this special place soon.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Maine for many years now and we both agreed that our recent stay at the McConchie cottage was our absolute favorite. We immediately felt right at home in this charming, private, well-loved family cottage boasting breathtaking views and equipped with all of the amenities anyone could want. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding mid-coast Maine towns as well as relaxing at the cottage and simply enjoying the peacefulness and serenity of the ocean. Our pup was in heaven sitting on the rocks overlooking the cove and running on the beach near the Craignair Inn. Sisters Biz and Lindsay McConchie were extremely gracious and responsive throughout our 2 week stay. We definitely felt fortunate to have discovered this cottage gem and were very sad to leave at the end of our trip. Thank you so much to the McConchie family for sharing this special place.

Always a delight to stay in this spot. Sitting by the water and watching the birds and whatever else may pass by, Blueberry Margaritas at the Craignair after a walk in Clark Island, ice cream in Port Clyde... Very homey place and easy to live there!

It was very secluded and relaxing place to stay.

This was our third time at the McConchie's home, and we loved being there as usual. We had new travelers with us, and they enjoyed it as well. The ocean waves were rolling, the daylight in June early and long, lobster boats busily pulling traps, duck families active and fun to watch, and there were always deer somewhere! We ate our way through the area, finding a new spot in Rockland, North Beacon Oyster house. The new folks checked out the Farnsworth, and we all thought the Owl's Head Transportation Museum was fun! The evenings were a bit chilly so the firepit was perfect.
This house has a great feel to it; has all the amenities, and then some. We can't wait to come back!
Thank you McConchies!

We had high hopes that we would love this cottage and be able to come back annually. Those hopes were dashed upon a late arrival( allowing cleaning person to finish). Upon arrival we were met with towels in the washer on first cycle( cold water), sticky kitchen floor ( and dry mop and bucket in the storage room )and the filthiest couch cushions and base. The dust under tables and chairs and sofas and beds was way more than a weeks worth. The grease in the kitchen was excessive. Appreciative of the host giving us $500 in cleaning fees credited, but was not the point. After reading the manual we realized that none of the beddings or towels are washed in hot water. Staph and bacteria only reacts to hot temperatures. We cleaned the windows and and sills to control additional dirt entering the house while the windows were open, but could do nothing about the linens and towels. Starting Week 2 we killed 3-5 earwigs( ugly insect) a day. The cottage is in desperate need of deep cleaning and revisiting the laundry situation. I am now aware that some hosts list safety and cleanliness guidelines to inform the guest. Again, the views were lovely.

My extended family and I have been coming to the McConchie cabin since 2014! It has truly been our home away from home for one week every summer! All 3 generations gather and make memories.
The cabin is in a quiet, peaceful, private location. The screened in porch is our favorite place to take in the views. The kids love hunting for sea glass and crabs. Having our dogs with us is also fantastic (they are part of the family).
I could go on and on. If you are looking for a quintessential Maine cabin on the ocean, look no further!

Everything you dream that Maine is from "cabin chic" to stunning location to Wifi that works and a wonderful inn down the road a bit to fill in the blanks!

This cottage was absolutely lovely, from the decor, to the views from the windows, the cleanliness, the screened in Porch and magnificent doesn’t even describe the stunning ocean and views steps from the cottage. Watching the ebb and flow of the ocean tides was mesmerizing and so relaxing, the preserve across the inlet provided a natural setting, watching osprey and seagulls soar, and deer as we took walks around the dirt roads. The McConchie family was a pleasure to work with and we are grateful they share this incredible place so others can enjoy it as they do. Thank you! Karen & Dick and our little dog Pepper

This is a lovely location with gorgeous views right on your doorstep. The house itself is obviously a much loved family vacation home, but with all the mod cons you need (large flat screen TV, fast internet/wifi, good cell phone reception dishwasher, washer and dryer). The king sized bed is very comfortable and the bedding is high quality. This is our second stay and we are already booked to return in the fall.

The view was perfect. Had it been warmer we would have lived on the back porch, but it was a bit on the chilly side. The house was warm and comfortable. We had a wonderful time traveling the area.

We had a really great and long stay at the McConchie's cottage over Christmas. It's *such* a comfortable and sweet home right on the water. We especially loved the fire pit and the games and puzzles! The beds were all comfortable. The TV worked great, and even though we are a little Roku challenged, we were able to figure out how to watch a movie or two!
The location is very quiet and lovely. Clark Island trails were great - especially the West side trail! We had one dinner at the Craignair and were so impressed with excellent food and extremely friendly service. We also recommend heading down to Tenant's Harbor General Store for miscellaneous needs, and further to Port Clyde General Store for lunch. Our kids (ages 7 & 9, and when they were younger) love hanging out at the small Tenant's Harbor library. The school there also has a pretty great playground. The Rockland Library and adjacent playground are also really great for the kids. Also in Rockport, we had a blast at Oakland Park Bowling (classic old candlepin bowling and arcade).
Finally, the owners were extremely responsive and kind in their communications. This is an older house, and the owners have thought through many of these things. We were there through a massive winter storm (we had a GREAT front row seat!), and though the power never went out we were pleased to have a large assortment of flashlights and lanterns available!

The view from the McConchie house is just as pictured - spectacular. The house is charming and cozy. It feels very private and yet you aren't isolated because there are other houses hidden in among the trees. We met friendly neighbors walking the well maintained dirt roads with our two dogs. Everything in the house works well - stove, hot water, hot air heat (no AC), shower, and toilets. Plenty of towels and the master bedroom bed was super comfortable. Even though we were there in November, we were able to spend time on the screened porch watching the tide come in. We liked it so much, we have already booked for next year.

This property is delightful! Our family of eight spent a wonderful week here. The house itself is charming. It is fully stocked with everything you might need for your stay. The bed linens are of the highest quality. The views are incomparable. It’s close proximity to Clark Island was an added bonus. We spent many hours hiking the trails there. The hosts were very responsive to all our needs.

This family-owned and loved cottage was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax, recharge and enjoy the sites and sounds of coastal Maine. The cottage had homey touches that welcomed us from the moment we walked in and everything that we needed for our stay. The view of the ocean was mesmerizing and provided us with countless hours of enjoyment and memory-making pictures to bring home. Our dog felt at home and loved walking at Clark Island every day. The property owners left information about great nearby places to eat, shop and hiking/walking opportunities. Lindsay was especially responsive any pre-trip questions that we had. My husband had never been to the coast but now loves it and wants to make it our yearly vacation. Thank you to the owners for opening up their home and providing such a wonderful home and opportunity to enjoy coastal Maine!

Once again we had a fantastic week on the Maine coast! This cottage offers everything you need and then some. You can't beat the views, and the sound of the waves is just so peaceful! Seeing young deer in the yard and watching the sea birds dive for their dinner is awesome! We also enjoyed having lots of good places to eat in the area. We'll be coming back as soon as we can for sure. Thank you McConchie family for sharing all of this!

The house lived up to our expectations based on the photos and description. It is very well appointed in all areas. The beds and pillows/bedding are very comfortable, as is the living room furniture. The kitchen had all we needed. We took advantage of the firepit outside, and the very comfortable Adirondack chairs. The views from the bedrooms and back yard are beautiful. We were very pleased with our stay. Thank you to the McConchie family for giving us the chance to stay in their home

We booked this house looking for a quiet escape and it was perfect. The house had everything we needed for the week and we could have probably made it the entire time without leaving. When we did leave, it was for a quiet walk down to the Cragnair or beach on Clark Island; a trip on the kayak, launched from the backyard; or a short drive to have a nice dinner out in Rockport. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a week!
4.0 / 5.0
We very much enjoyed staying at this property. The views were amazing while sitting in the screened in porch or out on the rocks. There is a cute little duck that comes out during high tide and waits for its little pond to form so it can rummage for food. We also saw seals along with a multitude of different aquatic birds
The short walk to clark island is well worth it as there are trails and a lot to investigate on the beaches.
The house was as listed and comes with everything you need to cook, eat lobster, shuck oysters and steam mussels and clams. We also enjoyed the fire pit while making s'mores and there is plenty of wood available.
So wonderful to find a pet friendly house as we had a small dog. However, there was quite a bit of hair left over from animals that had visited before us.
Overall, this was a wonderful house to stay in and we would definitly stay there again without hesitation.

Authentic Maine with a gorgeous view
Everything you need, plus an awesome view. So nice to wake up to that gorgeous ocean view every morning. My husband and I slept in a very comfortable king bed with soft all-cotton bedding. Several areas to sit and eat so everyone had space. Appreciated the cool retro green sink, the funky nightlight in bathroom and good water pressure in shower. I don’t think I’d change much (which is the point of vintage Maine) other than maybe replacing the kitchen flooring at some point. But the oceanfront location doesn’t get any better for pure relaxation! (Our favorite places to eat were The Causeway which was very close, and McLoons lobster shack.) What a gem— hope to be back!

Can’t wait till next year!
This was a return trip for us to the McConchie’s Clark island oasis. Of course the views are stunning, lobsters succulent, surroundings bucolic; but it’s the beloved modest yet perfect family home that imbues you with the generations of family memories that are the canvas to write your next family tradition.. Thank you again!

Maine….The way life should be.
The view from the bedroom windows is magnificent. Watched the lobstermen pull in their traps very early in the morning. Sitting in the yard with our morning coffee and watching the wildlife was so peaceful.
The house had everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable. I booked another week in September and am excited to come up in the fall.

Amazing stay on the rocky Maine coast
We loved the camp and throughly enjoyed our stay. It is such a relaxing and beautiful spot to enjoy the Maine coast. Two of the bedrooms have gorgeous ocean views. We enjoyed the fire pit overlooking the water and sat on the rocky shore enjoying the beauty and healing of the ocean. This is a gorgeous spot that makes you lose motivation to leave and explore surrounding attractions. We traveled to Port Clyde, Tenants Harbour, Rockland, and Camden. So nice to come back and relax at the camp after going out. The camp was well stocked and we were able to find everything we needed to have a great vacation. We would definitely book again! Thank you!!

Art of relaxing !!!
My Hubby and myself , Spent 5 glorious days at this cozy lovely home .. The house sits close to the water with a sparking shimmer off the ocean . This is so much more than your typical rental , The house had a feeling of warmth and family to it , You could tell it was loved by generations by the pictures of family all around , it just warmed my heart .. I come from a big Italian family and this house was so cozy .. About the house , it was just the two of us my husband and myself , We stayed in the king bed ( it was so comfortable) We both said this bed is as nice as ours - the ocean view .. The house could sleep 7 very comfortable, all rooms were simple but elegant..If not for covid I would of tried ever bed in the house ( princess and the pea ) We perfected the art of relaxing.. The house had a wonderful fireplace which we used everyday and a heating system that kept the house toasty wArm , The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook with , Also a lovely screened in room for summer , which we did not use , We have stayed at many many places all over Maine , Some very fancy ones , But I would say this is one of my top five , Lindsey could not have been sweeter or more helpful or flexible with us .. I already looked up the summer schedule but it looks like they are already booked , Hopefully with the beautiful family I saw in pictures around the house .. We had a nice snow storm while we were at the house and it was such a treat to wake up to the sparkling snow and light a fire and read .. I could go on and on .. Thank you for sharing your home with us Lindsey … Peter and Michelle ♥️

Beautiful oceanfront in Maine
Wonderful stay the first weekend in November. Cottage was clean, warm, comfy with everything we needed. Views from the yard were absolutely stunning. So peaceful with plenty of places to explore outdoors with our dog. Rock land was great for shopping, bakeries, and dinner. Absolutely cannot wait to return- wish we could have stayed longer. Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, had a wonderful time. And thank you for being pet friendly!

This is a very special place. Perfect home, location and scenery. The house was equipped with everything you would ever need. Such a peaceful place and the home was just plain beautiful, we fell in love with it the moment we walked in the door. Love all of the great books, art work and decorations. The best little spot!
We enjoyed everything about our stay!! The location is delightfully secluded but close enough for easy access to stores in Rockland for Groceries. We walked everyday around Clark Island, which permits well behaved dogs off their leashes!! The house is clean, cozy and so well stocked! We lit a fire everyday and enjoyed the porch and front rocks every evening and morning!! We loved everything about our week on Patricia Lane! Thank you!!
