Une parenthèse agréable dans un écrin de beauté

Surtout, le cadre - dans les magnifiques jardins du Palheiro, beaucoup plus beaux que le Jardin Botanique de Funchal. Un pur plaisir de se promener tranquillement dans ce jardin si beau et bien entretenu, comme l’hôtel. Le petit déjeuner, avec des œufs pochés ( Benedict et Florentin) parfaitement préparés Le professionnalisme et la gentillesse du personnel, surtout l’équipe du petit déjeuner, le personnel du Spa et un jeune homme à la réception. La salle de bains de bonne taille avec la douche à l’italienne. Le lit King-size.

La chambre peu lumineuse, nécessitant d’allumer les lampes en pleine journée. De devoir demander que les verres utilisés la veille soit changés ou nettoyés et de nous redonner de l’eau pour la chambre. Une petite absence d’entretien pour de petites choses, par ex. le miroir pour se raser ne tenant pas droit et donc inutilisable car ayant besoin d’être re-vissé.

Le cocktail gagnant : accueil portugais, décoration et confort anglais

l'endroit, dans les hauteurs de Funchall, un jardin à la végétation luxuriante, d'un agencement soigné et bien pensé, des plantes et arbres incroyables. Une maison à la décoration "so british", un personnel accueillant et disponible, des chambres très confortables, un spa et une restauration complète et variée. Un immense parc pour se promener et méditer, une piscine très appréciée.

Very nice stay, with beautiful gardens and surroundings.

Breakfast was great, the manor and the gardens are wonderful to roam around. There is a old-fashioned snooker/billiards table which is fun.

The location is a little off, so a bit out of the way, but if you are playing golf there every day, then it's perfect.

We spent a relaxing four days here which provided excellent R and R before moving to on to Funchal

Breakfast was first class good selection and served in a lovely room, the pool was very good as was the Spa we both had an excellent massage. The staff make the hotel everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Having stayed before when the food was first class we felt this time it was not so good and was trying too hard with unusual menu choices, where the menu is limited that can lead to a lack of choice

great location in beautiful gardens. you’ll need a car

Staff were friendly but service was haphazard. we felt the food was expensive and the vegetarian options were limited and very pricey for what they were. we stayed there long enough that the chef could’ve come up with something new (or at least talked to us about options)

Excellent service with a smile!

My wife and I stayed at Casa Velha in early December 2022. We stayed in a ground floor room in the Golf Wing, which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The public rooms of the hotel are also very comfortable. The Palheiro botanical gardens are just next door, and well worth the 5 euros entry fee for our stay. The golf course halfway house is at the bottom of the garden, and the golf course itself has excellent views. However what marks out Casa Velha is the excellent service of all of the team from top to bottom. They could not have been more helpful, pleasant, cheerful and kind... and that was before I had a medical issue which dumped me for a few days in intensive care in the General Hospital (clean, great care, but not so great food!). All of the staff rose to the occasion and gave my wife fantastic support at a very stressful time. To summarise... the best hotel experience I can remember. I'm looking forward to returning - this time without the medical issue!

Very beautiful area with lots of amenities to enjoy. Hotel service was good and they reacted very well to requests from our end.

From hotel of this caliber there were small things which I didn’t expect. E.g. breakfast toaster is old and doesn’t work well. Tennis court ground is torn up and not well maintained…

A very friendly and well managed hotel

Our only disappointment was not having an outdoor heated pool. It would be much better if the pool was situated perhaps on the croquet lawn.

High class hotel with a friendly touch and excellent service.

Very good restaurant, both food and service were top notch. Golf course is well worth playing, challenging but not unreasonably so. All the staff at the hotel and the golf were friendly and knowledgeable.

Perfect for a peaceful break

The restaurant is a little expensive and has a limited menu. More light options / bar snacks would be helpful. We received lots of emails regarding covid restrictions which had clearly changed by the time of our arrival - for example we were advised that breakfast buffet was not operating when in fact it was. Similarly, the shuttle service to Funchal was available even though we had been advised that it wasn't. With no information available in the rooms this was a little confusing and perhaps staff could be asked to update guests regarding arrangements upon check in.

Lovely hotel in a very peaceful setting. Beautiful gardens and excellent amenities; spa, pool, games etc. Lovely room with excellent breakfast. Shuttle to Funchal makes exploring the town effortless and there is good access to walks nearby. Friendly staff.
