Beja is a bit off the usual tourist routes. This hotel is in a beautiful old church/monastery. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful. And, there’s free parking on site.

I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel.
The room was big and the upgrade to an upper tier was very nice.
Did not use the pool or any other facilities.
There was nobody at the reception upon arrival and there was some extended waiting time.
Calling the reception also did not get any answer.

What a fascinating historic building - a converted convent/abbey, complete with cloisters and chapel. Comfortable room and secure parking. We had a delicious dinner, (despite being the only diners) and a good breakfast. Being winter, it was very quiet (only two rooms booked in the whole place, as far as we could tell), which gave it a slightly surreal feeling, which I'm sure would not be the case when busy and bustling and the gardens are in full bloom.
Beja, as a town, is pretty run down and, as one shop owner said to me "c'est pauvre et triste" (it's poor and sad) but it's important to see 'real life' away from the glitz of the cities and the coast.

Historical building, breathtaking interior and garden/pool, great food and excellent staff. Highly recommended

The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. They called a cab, informed about the price, and were over all very thoughtful and welcoming. The location is great, and the building is magnificent.
The restaurant has not too many options for vegetarians/vegans. Though I was assured when I reserved a table all the options would be there; there was just one to choose and this was really poor quality. When I asked for some vegetables it was readily brought, but it was fried canned corn. Overpriced too. There is a great vegetarian restaurant nearby with delicious food but only open for lunch.

There is not much to like here…
The property is supposed to give us the feeling of an historic convent but it just looks naked, empty and with no decoration. I’ve stayed on a lot of different historic “Pousadas” of Portugal and this is definitely the worst.
The bedrooms look basic, no decoration, super hard bed/matress and cold looking. The electric switchboard in the room was doing a permanent super annoying noise.
The breakfast is poor and the coffee just taste like dirty water. Supee over priced for what you get.

The staff was friendly and informative. The building is beautiful, spacious and historic. Breakfast was delicious and offered lots of variety.
The rain shower head had little water pressure, but the handheld worked.

Breakfast was acceptable but coffee options need improvement.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Some attention to detail maintenance. My room had a short circuit on most plugs which affected the use of the TV and charging of mobile equipment.

Breakfast was excellent a lot to choose. Location very good you could walk and find everything close.
Nothing to had for me was good enough.

the conversion from an old convent into a modern hotel
needs more maintenance in certain features that are in slight disrepair

Old abbey restored to a hotel which gives it a special touch and ambiance
The beds are not double beds but 2 single beds put next to each other

The high quality you expect from a Pousada was offered here. Very tasteful decor. Lovely pool and excellent breakfast included.
The pool was a bit shallow given there was a children's pool at the side.
