Die Gegend im Neubaugebiet
10.0 / 10.0

Sehr komplizierter Check in Prozess.

TOP!

Breakfast buffet, layout of the hotel and rooms. Location was great. Quiet yet central
Bed size was great yet for unfit or elderly folk it's not ideal to get in and out of. Room size could be adjusted to enable side space for bed.

pragmatic style, very well suited for families, people on a bike tour

friendly staff, clean and nice room
reception closes at 21:00, but they called me ahead to tell me so, pillows are soft and not comfortable for me at least

I know I tend towards perhaps too many enthusiastic 10/10 endorsements here on Booking.com (hosts after all are usually doing their best), but Schwedenhaus in Wismar is possibly the best place we've ever stayed. Ever. Fabulous rooms, brilliantly conceived, lovely staff, and the best breakfast (value, quality, range, volume) on the planet. Wow! Thanks.
As close to perfect as one could ever hope for.

Good breakfast, comfortable beds, free tea and coffee at the reception, as well as microwave!
Maybe it is better to have a door between rooms, and not between a hall and a room :)

Property seems well-run and cared for and everything was sparkling clean. There were switches on the wall which resembled light switches with German words on them. I used a translator on my phone to find out that two of the switches closed and opened the curtains behind the bed (which stretched from wall to wall, not allowing me to get close to the curtains unless I crawled up to the head of the bed from the foot) and the other two opened and closed one of the windows behind the bed. I have never seen this arrangement before and maybe that should be explained at check-in.
If I had been driving my own vehicle on this trip, I would probably be singing praises for this property but being located relatively far from the train station and downtown (where all the sites are located) was an inconvenience for someone traveling on public transportation. This property is somewhat of a challenge to get to unless you want to take a taxi. Once I got there (using a bus which meant a rather lengthy walk), I was directed to go in a different direction in order to get back to town to see the sites in Wismar I had come to see. This did open up another option for my return to the train station the next morning. It was very warm on the day I was doing all this walking and I was pretty much exhausted by the time I got there. Perhaps the language barrier was responsible for this, but I did not find the staff to be very friendly. The bed in the room I had stretched from wall to wall and I had to crawl from the bottom of the bed into the bed to go to sleep which I did not appreciate.

Exceeded my expectations and great value for money. Comfy bed, good breakfast, free parking, walkable distance to the city centre and very nice staff. Would definitely come back again for a short weekend break.
The heating could not be regulated (at least I did not manage to). It was either switched on, which became quite warm after a while, or off.
