Absolutely fantastic stay, amazing staff, maintained property. They’re true to their motto “come as a guest leave as a friend”. During our stay for three days we haven’t heard “No” on any request from the staff, wonderful people.
Feedback, not a complaint : more Breakfast options could be explored

The location was 5 km off the main highway and right on the coast; there was a small bit of sandy beach with nice swimming at high tide. There were lots of free activities, such as free snorkeling gear, kayaks, and then 2-4 activities offered each day like a nature walk, reef walk, volleyball and cooking. Almost everyone who works there (cleaning, admin, and activities staff) are from the village next door; these lovely Fijians were always polite, helpful and friendly. Having the village staff at the resort is a highlight for visitors, and everything should be done to make sure this relationship is maintained and valued.
Based on previous reviews, I was concerned about the food; it was not good and if you enjoy good food as part of your holiday, do not come here. Breakfast was continental and as expected; brown and white bread for toast (with individual butter and jam sachets), packaged breakfast cereals (okay choice), far too much cake and cheap muffins (no need for this), and often tinned fruit! Less than 15 mins drive away there are cheap fresh pineapples sold on the highway, and pawpaw and bananas in season almost year round; no excuse not to have local fruit at breakfast, and to invest in the local community (not importers). Dinner was was expensive and, at times, inedible (wild chicken curry just a bowl of bones and snapper tough and bony). The special "lovo" meal was the best meal but the only option on Tuesday night for $60 FJD. The chef can make white rice, french fries, and a curry although not very tasty. Almost no vegetables on offer. Given the amount of fresh produce down the road (beautiful local green vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, cucumber, bokchoy, long green beans, taro, ginger, coconut, etc), it would take very little effort to develop some good tasting and healthier meals at the same or lower cost.

Greetings and goodbyes from the staff. Smiles and bulas all the way. Didn't realise the location was much away from main road but the stay made it worthwhile

Location was amazing! The staff were very friendly and treated everyone as if they were family. Accommodation exceeded my expectations, very clean and comfy. The resort put on shows, excursions, village tours and activities all throughout the day for guests to enjoy if they wanted. Very good value for money. 100% recommended!
I wish we stayed longer!

Right on the beach, lovely morning swim.
Left purse in our private bedroom and locked the doors. Returned from breakfast to find housekeeping had been in, changed the soaps and stolen over $500 Fiji dollars from us.
We advised the hotel manager who told us this was the 9th robbery incident that month. Hotel manager called police on her own staff but offered us nil compensation.
Private driveway into Crusoe's Retreat became flooded after heavy rain making it difficult to enter.
Food was mediocre. Cocktails from bar were difficult to drink.
Beach bar was closed the entire time we stayed there.

The rooms were really clean and beautiful. The staff was nice and always there to help
The beach loungers were made of hard plastic. Not the most comfortable ones. The breakfast buffet wasn’t really a buffet just toast and cornflakes with jam.

breakfast menu little bit short

Location is excellent. Road getting in is not the best but once you get there ideal for relaxing. Staff were very nice.

Room did not look like the advertised pictures, bathroom was moldy, ants crawling over the sink and bath towels, a company had rented out most of the resort on the first night and was partying until around 2 AM, making it almost impossible to sleep. Had there been air con in the room, I could have shut the windows to try and dampen the noise, but that was not an option. Breakfast consisted of awful coffee and some old/moldy bread and fruit. So isolated that it is impossible to get anywhere else without a car, and even that is a major hassle.

Crusoe's Retreat is a piece of paradise. It is tucked away on the Coral Coast and was peaceful and idyllic. We stayed in the Ocean front bure which was comfortable with a great verandah to relax and chill out. It has a beautiful relationship with the village next door and we found the people to be friendly and hospitable. We missed it when we left!
There was not much we didn't like. The restaurant is pretty basic, but the meals they do they do well. It is not close to other shops or restaurants so just be aware that if you stay here, you are pretty much committed to the retreat.

We fell in love with this place from the first minute. We felt absolutely at home. Everybody was super nice and friendly. We want to say Vinaka! to each one who we met during our stay. Henry and JJ, thanks for keeping us entertained. We'll never forget our crab and frog race. Siteri and Johanna, thanks for treating us with your smiles at breakfast and dinner. Meals were delicious. Thank you to chefs.
We got nice massages made by Sai. Vinaka!
Sorry if we forgot some names. You guys are all amazing! We'll definitely come back and will recommend your resort to our friends.
Vinaka and huge hugs to you all.

I was admittedly sceptical about the slogan, "arrive as a guest leave as a friend" but honestly it did feel that way after only one night, the staff are so friendly. Retreat is an apt description, it's a little out of the way but very peaceful accordingly. The room was nice and the view is great. The snorkelling straight off the hotel is pretty decent and there's a sandy area to sit on. (The beach itself is available depending on the tides but the sitting area above is nice).
Some of the facilities are a little tired, the pool is not overly special, but the water makes up for that.

Comfortable bure overlooking the gardens and ocean. really friendly staff, nice little pool and I enjoyed the ocean side Takas bar/grill. Reasonable good breakfast, cereal, toast, cakes and fruit and tea, coffee and juice.

Crusoe's is in a beautiful location and is made even more special by the friendly, thoughtful staff who greet you by name and really want to make sure you have a great time. There were activities on offer every day which allowed us to get to know the natural and cultural side of Fiji - this made it extra special. Loved that the resort is right next to a local village and we were able to visit and take part in a kava ceremony - it felt so genuine. Or you can choose to just do your own thing on those days you want to do nothing at all. It is excellent value for money.

The view is one of the most beautiful in Fiji. Just breathtaking at sunset.
We had a rat in our room. Sadly, so did our neighbors 😕. It was only a nights stay so we didn't bother moving but it was quite obvious that the rat had been there for a while. Rat droppings everywhere. There is also an ant problem. Ants on our bed when we arrived. The cost of food and drink is quite expensive for what you get. Limited menu and the serving is quite small for the price. There isn't any other dining options nearby so you really don't have a choice but to pay and eat what they offer. Sadly, I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to friends either. A shame because the property has so much potential.

Fabulous staff, who were eager to do all they could to make our stay enjoyable. We visited during the early days after Covid lock-downs, so they're still getting on their feet and not all was open yet, but they made our stay as fun and comfortable as possible and went the extra mile to be friendly and helpful.

Second time visit for us. Crusoe's Retreat is everything it is meant to be. Arrive as a guest and leave as a friend. This is a Fijian stay of old – relaxing, calm, and great to wind-down. Staff are friendly, b’fast basic and enjoyable, dinner terrific. This is not a ‘touristy’ resort, although staff will organise daytrips and links to any main tourist activity. What you get is a real Fijian experience. If you want hustle and bustle and staff all over you to spend more money, then go somewhere else.
If you are staying for a while - best to have a hire car. Gives lots of freedom to explore. The resort is a couple kms off Queens Road and while this is great for privacy it restricts transportation a little.

Beach, jacuzzi, pool, sea view. Food was good but pricey. You can get free snorkeling gear
Hot water was hot only first day. Stairs.
