It was ok

Ground floor setting is great

No shower gel. Mattress was sagging. Tv channels were fussy.

Never again. Second disappointment at Penta Reading

The location is great and the bar has a good feel to it.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Penta in Reading and been completely disappointed with the standard of the room. The room was dirty and looked like it hadn't been touched in 10 years. I was exhausted when I checked in and didn't really notice the standard of the room until I woke the following day. Chipped paint work, cracked walls, broken aircon, damaged and dirty furniture. I did speak to the receptionist on the way out but she wasn't to interested and referred me to the general manager. Not really what I'd expect from a Penta property.

It’s central, modern and comfortable. The staff are friendly and there’s a decent bar and restaurant on the ground floor.

Very satisfied by most aspects - location, breakfast, comfort, quietness, value - would come again.

Good sports theme - table tennis, darts, tv sport, table football etc. Good location - very central for shopping and tourist spots. Exceptionally quiet room, away from the main road. Particularly comfortable bed with nice pillows. Excellent breakfast.

Didn't fancy the evening fare so went to Prezzo in town instead - I was hoping for a more formal set-up with waiter/waitress service. This was the worst thing. Receptionist (young, slight, blond, not British) said she couldn't order a taxi to bring me back from the theatre that night - I had to go out and track down a taxi driver myself! But she was pleasant otherwise!

Very good

Location was excellent. Staff at reception exceeded all expectations. They were amazing. Breakfast buffet was not refilled & removed before 10am, the stated finish time.

Unsafe area for single woman in an evening

Nothing at all as did not stay at the hotel due to safety concerns - stayed somewhere else instead but was billed in full.

Booked this location for overnight as was going to meet friends at Regatta. Was advised by all friends that the location was not safe for a woman at night. Requested cancellation for safety concerns and was told to request through booking dot com. Did this and hotel did not respond. Contacted hotel again and no response.

The only thing good from our stay were the staff. Every single member of staff we interacted with was amazing

Staff were really nice and friendly. There was an incident that occurred which wasn't the staffs fault but they were very apologetic and acted quickly. The other couple of issues we had staff helped us sort

I have stayed in the property before and one of the reasons I stayed again was because they had chrome cast on the tvs which works for me as I don't watch a lot of day time tv. When we got into the room we found that chrome cast was not working. After we spoke to a member of staff they said it was an issue on their end not the hotels. Nowhere was it advertised saying they are unable to provide this and if it was I probably would have found somewhere different to stay. All the bedding was disgusting. The pillows had lots of yellow stains on and so did the duvet. The bed sheet was ripped in the corner. One of the mugs in the room, which we did not use, was stained. The shower was awful. There was no pressure to it whatsoever. The plug to stop the water going down the drain in the basin would get stuck every time you shut it and would have to attempt to force it open.

Excelling customer service, great overall stay.

Spacious rooms, smiley and helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Accommodating when requesting extra towels.

The kettle needs replacing.

Ideal for short stays to be central

Good aesthetic and comfy beds

Pillows were not great, massive and clumpy so wasn’t great for the neck. Also for some reason a king room is just two single beds and two single duvets which is a bit strange.

Comfortable stay in the centre of Reading

Penta Hotel could do better

Good location staff friendly

Tv didn't have all the functionality that I have had on previous stays. Didnt have breakfast as last time breakfast on previous stay had to be cooked to order and was burnt when received definitely breakfast not worth price charged. So thus time didn't have it.

Had to get a room change. Clearly instruction not being read via email to the hotel. A/C non functional. Was given a fan. The door lock inside was not fuctional.

Enjoyable and would return but not have breakfast.

Quirky hotel in a nice way. Not often I play table tennis and have a drink at 11.00 pm! Good location and value for money.

Great last minute stay

Friendly staff, lovely room. Massive bed. Car park discount validation was super easy. Would definitely stay here again should I need a place in Reading again. Loved the disco balls by the entrance, and would’ve liked to have had a drink at the bar. Great vibes to the place. Great price for great hotel.

The shower was good, however the head was leaking from the attachment so didn’t bet the full power. Was lovely nonetheless.

the property was clean and looked appealing.

However, it was incredibly dark and hot. My room was unbearable - I couldn’t sleep at all. the air on was no good nor was the window.

A very enjoyable stay

Was made to feel very welcome. My room was ready as soon as I arrived. I was there to attend an event which was well organised. The room was lovely and comfortable. I really enjoyed the breakfast. Checking in and out was really easy

The only issue I had was with parking. I couldn’t get into the car park recommended by the hotel. So I parked at the car park at the Oracle shopping mall. When I tried to get out it told me that my ticket had already been used. When I finally got in touch with someone, they said it was because I stayed overnight. It is advertised as an overnight car park and it is but seemed to cause a problem letting me out. Just thought it might be worth you knowing in case it happens to any of your other guests

Fabulous! Perfect location, staff were very welcoming, it was an all round comfortable stay. would definitely book again

hotel was lovely, great location, breakfast was delicious- very good selection. everything with the stay was fabulous and would definitely stay again!

I booked the upgraded room as the detail stated it had a bath rub and the standard room didn’t. when we arrived at the site for check in they advised it was the opposite way round. the staff member kindly offered us a standard room but with the robes and slippers which we accepted. but had we have known this we would have opted for the standard room!

Room was cold, heating not working and when I raised issue to reception in morning it was not dealt with and staff seemed not interested then I was asked if I was happy with the stay, ridiculous and would defo not recommend.
