This is a traditional inn of some antiquity, apparently refurbished and extended by a hotel company. The location was perfect for my intended purposes - a sports event in the village and a visit to the famous Duxford airfield and museum. There was a good atmosphere throughout the stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, even after I accidentally took the headboard from my bed right off the wall, in the msitaken belief that it was attached to the bed. The food was excellent. It was not just that the "traditional hotel breakfast" was offered. I had a magnificent steak for dinner on one of the three nights I stayed. I wanted to have dinner more than once but, on the Sunday, I found everything closed at [from memory] 7pm . I was told that this is normal for the district, but I can't help thinking that the location is thereby losing out on potential profit. My room was comfortable, but small, even for a single room. This was OK for the three nights I stayed, but would become irksome for anyone wanting an extended stay. The bathroom was clean, modern, but tiny. There was no shelf on which to park toiletries and, on reflection, I couldn't see where there might have been room to erect one. The shower was a tight squeeze and the shower head is non-dirigble. This is fine for a day, or a few days, but an extended stay might be different.

Great hotel and amazing staff - also a very historical place
They’ve just taken over with new management and can say they’re doing a great job already
Not much to be honest -

Location to IWM Duxford
Very good value for money, welcoming staff and comfortable.

Old with character. Comfortable. Helpful, friendly staff. Good power shower. Local to relatives. The 3 of us enjoyed dinner here and the menu covered all our tastes. Good quality full English breakfast

We enjoyed the historical aspects of the property. The staff were friendly.
Unfortunately there were issues on arrival as all staff had gone home.
The cooked breakfast was stone cold. The manager did turn the food heater up when informed.
We understand that the current management has only recently taken over. We hope that given time these teething issues will be sorted.

Staff were pleasant but with no real training or management present.
No instructions re meal times given or in the room. Only one cup and one plastic beaker in double room. Shower tray broken and looked dirty. Fire alarm went off- left the room but no staff in sight. Breakfast looked congealed and had been cooked hours before. When we left and wanted to pay woman behind the bar couldn't find our details or work the pay machine. No-one there to help her. Said the manager would phone us but he / she didn't.

Staff fantastic
Room was basic in need of updating but comfy
Food was over priced for what it was and it was cold
Wouldn’t eat at this place again

Was like a portal between the old and the new and it works the details in the old part if you take the time to look closely are absolutely amazing
If I was being super picky it’s a shame modern buildings allowed to be built so close to hotel. Just takes away the WOW factor

Room - only hand held shower which was limiting
Breakfast - not very well set out and limited selection under a hot plate - plate so hot it burnt. on the positive side staff very helpful and the food was good so all recovered on that
Dinner - entree not recorded and so my mean was out of sync with my guests - food was good though so that was a compensation
I only had a few grumbles but they were compensated for by quick response from staff

Very pleased with our stay at the Red Lion. Rooms very comfortable and of a generous size. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Perfect location, just a short drive from Cambridge away from the the hustle and bustle. We used the park and ride to enter the town which worked very well.

Annex hotel to the Holiday Inn over the road. Comfortable stay. Car Parking facilities.
The Bath/Shower situation. Tiny bath and a hand held shower. Would have liked to have been informed about this before hand.
Would have liked the bar/restaurant to be open. Especially for breakfast.

Bed was om
Old blood stain on my pillow, larger than £1 coin. I left it exposed so Housekeeping could swap for clean after the first night, but they just put the pillowcase back on!
Table fan not working.
Bath plug didn't fit so couldn't bath. The hand held shower wasn't adequate as there was no shower curtain or screen.
Absolutely no storage for clothes not even a coat hanger or drawer. We lived out of suitcase on the floor.
Window faced the railway station which was immediately across the road so not the quietest of locations.
Very steep staircase to first floor where bedrooms were located. We are pensioners in our seventies and I have two replacement hips and my husband has two replacement knees so we struggled. We mentioned these facts in our booking form but we're not advised of the unsuitability of the accommodation.
Worst place I have ever stayed in.

Very handy for Duxford and Cambridge.
The Holiday Inn express opposite.
Windows we’re rotten and rattled.
Toilet was used and hadn’t been cleaned.
Tea making kit was kept on a tray on the floor and thick with dust.
No biscuits!
Room smelled musty and damp.
£7.50 charge for overnight parking for guests.
Noisy train station drop off point below window.
No biscuits!!
Half the price still wouldn’t have been good value.

Not as advertised, pub/restaurant closed Sat and Sun, virtually no food or drinks available at holiday inn. Total rubbish.

Dinner in the evening was a disaster. My partner was given a dish he didn't order and then had to wait for the replacement, which I am sure was not as described on the menu. I specifically asked whether the sea bass was a whole fish on the bone and was assured it was. When it arrived, it was probably the smallest sea bass fillet I had ever seen, served with not very appealing vegetables. We did get 50% off the food. However this experience was not the best and, after a visit to Duxford the following day, we drove home rather than spend another night with not very good food.

Nothing
Room not fully clean nut shells under bed and shower tray over flowed.

it's a pub near a Holiday inn so managed by Holiday inn reception and staff, therefore there are some nice meals in holiday inn also has breakfast with reasonable cost and good quality.
Room is clean, bed is comfortable enough
Extremely surprising room I was put on the top of an attic, small room, the curtain is forever drawn down as it's broken cannot pull up. tiny table and tiny space. The room was extremely cold (end of may) and cannot find out how the heating or the detached heater work. also there is only a bath without any separator for shower so you cannot take a shower as it will make a hell of mess with water everywhere. Bathroom is spacious enough

The meal was OK
The staff sent us from the lion bar ove in the rain to the new reception, who then booked us in whilst bollocking the staff for not booking us in at the pub .The room freezing think number14 top of stairs at end .the window was above the bed single glazed window the draft was a gale .my wife slept with a hat on .
Open fire disuse with a bin bag stuffed in it hanging out .The electric sockets in the room didn't work so unable to use the kettle or the oil filled radiator to warm the room up ..email sent at the time not responded to .11am was the time to leave but The cleaner came in at 8.45 banging on door and waking in on us still in bed .
Reported all the above to the reception who told me to email booking .was not even offered a hot drink as we were freezing..

I have stayed here many times over the years …
I arrived late today on a flight from Saudi Arabia…but unable to shower due to the shower tray being dirty with old hairs

The location is excellent and the room was cheap.
it is extremely run-down and facilities are limited, though they are at least clean. The bathroom sink was tiny and totally impractical to use.

quaint and cosy

Easy to find with plenty of parking
The building had lots of character
The room was clean and tidy
£7.50 to pay for the car park.
It was minus 2 degrees outside. The room was freezing and could feel a draft coming through the walls.

Location and Room
Our choice was based on it having a bar and restaurant which we have used previously and was advertised as available.
However both the bar and restaurant was shut due to lack of staff and we had to drive to Duxford to find somewhere to eat.
