Central location, clean and mostly friendly.
Had 2x stated "underground" rooms... but that's a local description. Any room that is even partially dug into the side of a hill attracts a premium charge for being underground.

Location was fine and the breakfast was decent
Cleanliness of the room was not great ..there policy of doing room service once in 3 days was not mentioned when we booked, so we had to literally ask for towels....glasses and cups in the room were old and not clean... carpet was old and dirty. A microwave in the room would be helpful as they didnt have any lunch or dinner service........paying almost $200 a night was not worth the way room and service was

The room was comfortable. Parking was easy. The room was large and had a fridge, table and chairs and adequate TV.
The room was a little dated but adequate for our needs. The restaurant etc was closed for Easter and most other facilities in Coober Pedy were also closed.

Comfortable enough, convenient.clean. Friendly staff. Cafe good for breakfast. Very interesting architecture, built into cliff. Underground rooms available, which we had stayed in before, so elected to use above ground with balcony
A little tired, restaurant closed although opposite Italian was fine.

Location. Staff
For what I paid breakfast should have been included. Main grip was what that we were there 5 nights but the roon was not serviced or cleaned at all - and when we asked we were just told "Company policy"

Enjoyed all except the first encounter with bar man on our first evening. Wasn’t there when we first got to bar and then was abrupt when we asked about wine special as per our check in information he denied it at the start. Must of realised he was wrong and rude as then changed his tune. All other staff were brillant
Room needed a good vacuum around and behind the furniture

Location excellent. Morning coffee excellent, Scott brilliant. So friendly and informative. Theo also.
The cleanliness of the bathroom and balcony. No smoking in pool area should be enforced and no glass in the pool area. Both were ignored. OHS&W issue. However, overall staff were excellent and their friendliness and willingness to accommodate overcame any downside.

Central to town. It's the only good thing about it.
The chair in the room was broken, physically fell from the chair when we sat on it, wasn't even screwed to the frame. Black mold in the shower and up the bathroom wall. There were 2x families of crickets living in the room that we had to deal with in order to get any kind of rest. Considering we paid for a premium room, the room was far from premium. I would not recommend staying here and I will never stay here again.

location to the pizza place.
I was led to believe I had booked an underground room but was allocated an older room near the road. When I upgraded to the underground room I discovered none of them were airconditioned and were very humid and uncomfortable. So ended up going back to the original older style room. Those underground room definitely need aircon this time of year.

The room
The receptionist took a call halfway thru serving me and complained about guests wanting to use the pool and completely ignored me walking around the desk at reception
7.0
unique, it’s history, central. and able to sleep in underground room.
not thoroughly vacuumed. there is evidence of walls of underground units deteriorating on surface, hence edges of room had lots of sediments that wasn’t cleaned up. this give you doubts if bedding & linen are all ok too. Key to block of unit doors didn’t work, so had to leave it jammed open so entry was insecure at night and during day wind brings on leaves and dirt into carpeted walkways.
Friends booked in other underground room reported bitten by mosquitoes all night. Later found bug spray in room. Seems to be under new management, maybe some teething issues, like at reception not explaining or welcoming enough to introduce such a unique site, or warning of mozzies issues. Seems a bit run down in parts, perhaps the Christmas period is not the best time to judge if everything is working optimally, but you can see it’s grandness is there, just not as it was probably in its hey day. a bit disappointed… it was not a cheap booking. They could do better.
