Great old hotel, loved the architecture (beams etc) and location just down the hill from Montgomery castle.. Food was nice and very reasonably priced.
Pillows were a bit too hard for our liking.
5.0
Wonderful old hotel in quaint town - locals own and very friendly- both dinner and breakfast had good food and all staff were excellent-would recommend for people travelling to Wales like we were - the rooms were clean and very comfortable- perfect stay
4.5
Decent breakfast. Eggs benedict was enormous.
Fascinating historic building
Brilliant location in the centre of Montgomery
Real ale available
Quirky, friendly staff
Morning coffee was tasteless and weak.
The decor of the hotel is rather tired and it could do with a full face lift. However, that would be expensive and I think I'd rather they kept their prices reasonable instead. If you don't mind the outdated decor this is a great value option.

Not alot nearby, but for forward travel good base
4.5
Location, ample parking, staff attention, menu choice, pet friendly, close to main travel routes but far enough away for a quiet and peacefull time .
What we believe we're hidden service charges, hidden in that we didn't see any literature to say service charges would be charged on top of the bill .

It was a nice quaint hotel.
There were a lot of people talking loudly both in the evening and early in the morning outside the rear of the property. It seemed as though it was the staff.
Also it sounded like there was some work going on, grinding, drilling, around 9pm in the evening.
4.0
Lovely little pub with nice beers and the meals (dinner and breakfast) were great. Staff were fantastic.
3.5
Super location and good parking. Lots of character and lively atmosphere
Very uncomfortable bed - really needs replacement. Room not serviced during two night stay. Had to ask for teabags and milk.
4.5
Atmospheric hotel in centre of a beautiful small town. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Room was at the top of the hotel up a lot of narrow stairs. Shower pressure a bit low.
3.5
Great location. Room was comfortable though with very little view. Dinner in the bistro was fine.
Breakfast less good - tea you made yourself with a teabag and hot water and very little choice other than a full fry-up.
2.5
The central position in Montgomery
The room was very dusty, two lights didn’t work and no ventilation in the bathroom so the smell was damp and musty!
the fan in the bathroom also didn’t work
5.0
the hotel was clean the rooms were comfortable, dinner and breakfast brill , staff were very welcoming and friendly, we had a great stay.
nothing not to like ,love the hotel very quirky.
3.0
Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful old building with lot of history, the hotel is placed in quite small town. Room was clean, very spacious with big and comfy bed. Nice and good sized bathroom.
When we arrived car park was full (on front and back hotel) so we had to leave our car on the road for night. Breakfast wasn’t best but ok. No wi-if and no signal with 02 network at all so during the stay I had no chance to use internet or even make/ take calls (at room). Very tiny walls so I could hear screaming kids and drunk women from next room. Our room was on 1st floor but still was loud from bar which didn’t help to sleep. The hotel is dog friendly so we had breakfast with barking dogs around 🙊

4.5
Friendly and efficient staff who might be relatively new to the business but we're all really good...
Room was comfortable with ensuite shower and newly decorated..
I had dinner with a colleague... very good with whitebait to start... not over cooked and fresh tasting....followed by lamb rump ....fat crisp and rendered but pink in the middle...lovely.
Good selection of beers and reasonably priced at £65 for 2 courses each plus more than 2 beers....
Breakfast was equally excellent, loca Welsh l produce, well cooked and tasty with generous portions ....there is also fruit juice, pastries, cereal and a constant coffee pot....
I will be back
Beware the low corners in your room....OK if you're not over 6' but that's not really a dislike....
4.5
Friendly staff who made me feel welcome....
Great food at dinner and breakfast.... lamb rump was marvellous.. ..and a selection of beers....
Good value for money and plenty of parking
I will stay again
Low ceiling in room is because it's an old building....not really a dislike....

Noisy. Handrails in bathroom would have been helpful. Better reading lights would be good.

Loved the location.Clean room & comfy bed.
Had an issue unlocking door, TV difficult to change stations, low water pressure which effected shower which was also not easy to use if not very tall like me. The room did have a window which was high up &
consequently no view. Late night noisy neighbours.
5.0
Everything was ideal.
There is nothing to criticise.
