Beautiful place. Old and nostalgic
4.7

Fujiya was amazing. Five stars! We loved the history and quality of this grand hotel. It was the highlight of our 3 week trip to Japan.
Nothing to dislike

Beautiful antique hotel . Fabulous breakfast. It is set menu so options are less, nevertheless good, quality, fresh produce. Beautiful crockery . You can find some nice quiet spots to sit by yourself and enjoy the view. Onsen was nice. Lot of amenities.
Not much I can think. The hotel has a vibe , if you like that , you will love the place.
4.7

L’acqua calda in camera arriva direttamente dalle sorgenti termali. Personale efficiente e disponibile. Cucina eccezionale sia per la cena che per la colazione.
Taxi non disponibili in questo periodo di alta stagione, meglio noleggiare un’auto per evitare i bus sovraffollati.

I loved the Fujiya so much that I thought to myself “next time you come to Japan, you’re spending your entire stay there”. This was the first time I was traveling solo, so obviously some blunders were expected—the worst of which was me forgetting my backpack on the bus! I was near tears, because I can’t speak a word of Japanese, but the receptionist at Fujiya quickly helped me call the bus company and located the bag! The concierge then arranged for a taxi to take me to and from the station to retrieve it on the same day. I was honestly amazed at the service and how kind all the staff were. The room itself was stunning. Mine was in the Forest Wing, overlooking the forest side of the hotel (which made for a stunning view to wake up to!). But although the room and en suite bath were absolutely lovely, the star of the show was definitely the Onsen. I tried both the breakfasts (Western and Japanese) at The Main Dining Room and Kikka-So, and the staff in both were so attentive when I informed them I couldn’t have pork or alcohol. It’s always something I’m hesitant to bring up at hotels, but they honestly went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and I couldn’t be more grateful for that! All in all, would give more than 10 stars if I could.

Very nice hotel and rooms in a huge complex, with a lovely garden, big onsens and bakery.
Located along the bus route from the main train station and we also got the train which was a 5 min walk away to the Hakone ropeway. Would love to stay here again!
The restaurants were quite expensive and fancy for us but there was limited choice of restaurants in the area. Would recommend if you like fine dining.

Great staff
A bit dated

A stunning old hotel in Hakone. The swimming pool was a completely amazing addition to our stay. We also loved doing the circuit of Pirate ship, rope car, train, stopping at the sculpture park and getting back to the hotel all in one day. The hotel was really comfortable and beautifully designed. We also loved using the onsen.
The hotel has a few funny rules that they are keen to stick to. Our 15 year old was not allowed in the bar with us and we asked for more fries at 8.40pm but were told that the kitchen had closed at 8.30pm.

The hotel staff was amazing! The best service I’ve ever experienced in Japan. Amazing!
The garden is very beautiful and it has a very special old feeling in the hotel.
It’s expensive
4.7
The hotel was vintage, and located in a beautiful area surrounded by greenery. Also with easy access to the bus which can take you to visit the entire Hakone area.
Communication with the hotel reception was poor. Given that this is a place where mostly foreigners and tourists come, I would have hoped that the reception can offer better services in English.
4.7
Beautyful building and room, nice facilities.
They had no dinner opening when we arrived. And there is limited options around the hotel. It is advisable to book dinner ahead. The French and the Japanese restaurant is magnificent, probably the best in all Hakone. Although not on the cheap side.
They have a bar with some food. But children are not allowed. I dont understand that policu, since this is not a party place.

The authentic atmosphere was amazing. The hotel has a kind of grandeur due to its history, architecture. The building is original, and well maintained. The room was up to modern standards. The staff was very friendly and polite. The western style breakfast in the Fujiya room was a great experience and is highly recommended.

Amazing hotel with old world charm.
The beds were too hard, uncomfortable.
4.7
Breakfast was excellent omakase at kikka-so. Staff were very attentive and helpful
4.7
Beautiful building - reeks of Japanese heritage and culture.
Conveniently located - good facilities.
No vegetarian options for food.
4.7
Good service and facilities though a bit old...
Far too expensive. Not an ideal value for money.
4.7
Really like the old decor of the hotel and the history,
4.7
beautifull architecture, a lot to do even only inside hotel( gym, onsen, swimming pool, reading room) free drinks ( coffee, tea..)
sometimes staff « too »helpful could be a bit
rude for our western culture. like for the
check in we were asked to come right now and the staff even took our small bag without asking. also at restaurant we feel a bit pressure to eat fast and also the best is when we ask for support to have our luggage sent to our next hotel,
the staff give me the paper (in japanese)
to fill in (in all the other hotels they wrote it for me) because their are some symbols
we do not know how to write

The staff were SO lovely. We lost a water bottle on a bus and they helped us locate it and get it to the train station to pick it up. We also enjoyed our linked rooms and the onsen is lovely.
Several restaurants near the hotel are still closed so that was a little frustrating, but two local convenience stores were open and very tasty.

Beautiful hotel. Great location, lovely historic charm, very friendly staff.
Bed was a bit too hard.

Amazing hotel with rich history. Rooms are large which is untypical for Japan with very comfortable beds 😍
Amazing garden with ponds, sakuras and beautiful peaceful places to rest after onsen. Onsen is great and service is perfect. Definitely will recommend this hotel to stay in 👍
