Homely and comfortable and great service. The food was really good too.

Well it’s where they shot Hot Fuzz

Location couldn't be better. Parking too
They are obviously dog lovers and went out of their way to look after our furry friends.
So friendly.
I appreciate that the building is probably listed, but the rotting medieval windows really do need replacing in the bedrooms asap.
Perhaps have an extra duvet/extra thick duvet for the cold nights.

Location, used has a stop over on way to Cornwall. Ate at the crown food good, recommend the pie.
The noise outside, not just delivery or bin lorries but people speaking loudly below windows in courtyard, after the hotel had closed.

Excellent location for cathedral and high st.
Staff let me check in very early. Double room after paying for single.
Very nice breakfast.

Breakfast was very good. Plenty of options, good service. Nice clean open spaces and atmospheric. I especially liked having a bedroom with a front view over the Market Square and being right at the centre of a historic city. The staff were welcoming and approachable when information was sought. I quickly felt at home, coming and going throughout my 3 day stay. The en suite bathroom was very good.
This is a great place to stay for easy walking or cycling access to the city attractions, shops and amenities. I don't drive anymore but if I did I think finding done where to park would be a problem. Bus services between Wells and Bath or Bristol are good. Ticket cost £2.00 in June 2023 which was marvellous!
I look forward to having the opportunity to returning sometime.
It took me a quite a while to work out how to operate the shower system. Very modern showers but instruction leaflet in room would have been helpful.
The floorboards were very creaky and general sound insulation between rooms and floors was not so good. Self-closing fire door on 1st level was quite hard to open but I quickly got used to it and appreciate it's a vital feature.

Breakfast was brilliantly cooked and presented.
Staff are super friendly.
Shower cubicle was very small.

Breakfast was good, but no fruit to start with.
The beds were very comfortable…..as long as you didn’t move! They were very wallowing every time you moved which was disquieting. Also, cheap thin toilet paper.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely old wonky hotel.

Breakfast was just ok Rushed. Just basic Location excellent
Mushrooms over cooked. Didn’t look appealing. The rooms all need up dating old fashioned. Basic no frills clean tho

The staff was very hospitable. The location was perfect for going to the Wells Cathedral and other sights in the area.
The family room had very low water pressure when showing and the beds were on the soft side. The cot was not comfortable for the 13 year old. She didn't sleep well. The remote in the family room didn't work for the TV.

Good position on the Market Place, next to Cathedral and Bishop's Palace.
It's also a noisy pub. Tiny parking difficult to get in and out of even when places available. No lift - not easy with heavy suitcases. Restaurant menu very limited. Very poor breakfast buffet - although copious cooked breakfast available. Tiny room with no phone to contact reception.

parking was okay, though not easy finding it, due to market day. Locals very helpful in trying to direct me. I liked the touch of having your name on the table for the evening meal which was excellent. Pub has great character, and great location.
Only issue was using the shower. The power switch was not easy to use.
The staff did apologize for the room as it was rather small, but for my purpose it was fine.

Location was great
My room was at the end of a dingy corridor which was badly in need of updating. Unfortunately it was also right above where the kitchen staff went outside to smoke, so was noisy and didn’t smell great. No WiFi at all available.
Breakfast was very disappointing - I requested avocado on toast with smoked salmon and poached eggs. Plain toast un buttered with a roughly chopped avocado plonked on top of it arrived, with two underdone poached eggs on the side. Not very appealing! Smoked salmon was forgotten and brought 15 mins later, by which time I’d had enough so left! For somewhere that prides itself on an ‘excellent breakfast’ this was extremely underwhelming…

central location. good value

The location is excellent.
The interior of the hotel is very shabby and desperately needs updating. Our bathroom was so small, there wasn’t enough room to dry yourself after a shower unless you left the shower cubicle door open. The cubicle was extremely small and the shower pressure very low. There were two pointed ‘hooks’ screwed into the door frame at eye height. An accident waiting to happen.
