Other than swimming hat , it was a pleasant stay.

Spacious, we got free upgrades to 3 bedrooms. Thank you Oakwood.

Swimming hat is compulsory, you are not allowed to use swimming pool without swimming hat.

Overall very good if they could improve the departure time of the bus to the Cantin fair then that would be great.

Apartment size was good. Also great to have a washer dryer to do my own laundry

The canton fair bus timetable. They have one bus in the morning but it departs at 9am which is too late. It should depart at 8.15am as it takes 20-30 mins and the fair opens at 9am so you want to be there at opening not 30-45 mins after the fair has started.

A good family home away from home at the heart of Guangzhou where you’ll have easy access to food and shopping within wa

At the heart of Tianhe, plenty of eateries and shops all around the property. Many eateries were opened till 2-3am! Nice 2 bedroom apartment size for family of 5. We ordered an extra bed that was placed at the dining area for my adult son. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially the doorman.

No access to Netflix or more English channels on TV. The toilets tend to choke and give off a stench. The aircon was also not working properly - it was hot in one room while the other room was fine.

Great location and staff were all nice. Be mindful that the swimming pool is closed in winter.

It was our 2nd time stay at this hotel, so we knew that the location was perfect and the room was spacious. All receptionists speak good English and were always happy to fulfil our needs. The room we stayed had a steam bath in the main bathroom and it was really nice.

Swimming pool was closed as it was winter. We never knew and it was the whole reason that we booked this hotel. We were extremely disappointed. Our kids still couldn't give up and we wanted to take them to a nearby public swimming pool though, only to find out that they are only open either in the early morning or at night (not during the day), which didn't fit our schedule.

Highly recommended in Guangzhou!

Great location and staff were very helpful. Would like to especially thank James for helping us with the check in and ensured that we were all comfortable. Had some matters with one out of the 3 rooms we booked but was sorted quickly.

good quality/price but service could largely improve. Details count.

Spacious and clean rooms (when you are not assigned a room that just got disinfected from cigarette smoke), good breakfast, nice pool, and with a perfect location downtown Guangzhou, close to the metro and GZ main shopping malls. Multiple restaurants around. I believe the Oakwood is an excellent price/quality ratio given the rate we've had and the services/comfort provided. I feel the hotel to be perfect for a family stay, but could also fit business stays (wifi is under the China firewall though).

The front desk agent was in a hurry to check us in, but as I like to read the fine prints, we felt a bit of pressure to expedite the signature of the room contract. This was not a pleasant check in experience. We were initially assigned a Studio room, as booked, but it just got disinfected from smoke. The smell was horrible and gave me headache after 5mn. Air con was not working well. The staff did not propose to change room. This was a very unpleasant experience, not to mention that we were staying with a young child (the child was mentioned on our booking). In the end, we had to pay for an upgrade to change room, and had to beg for the first night upgrade to be offered (which was only accepted the next day). At least air con was working fine in the second room we got assigned. Safety deposit box did not work in the first assigned room. The safe did not work neither in the second assigned room. We had to insist to have the staff come to check by themselves. The technician finally came to repair it. If your safe does not work, please insist to have it repaired. Overall, I could have rated our stay a 9, but given all the inconvenience we faced, I downgraded my appreciation.

I liked the gym and other facilities. I also like the availability of the shuttle bus as well as the location

I liked the location, hotel design and outlook, at the reception, restaurant and room. It was a beginning of January, and there were almost no other guests at the hotel as it seemed to me, so it was quiet and peaceful. The room was clean, nice and comfy

Location is great. The rooms are very clean. The lobby is up on the 15th floor. Everything worked out the way we had expected. Booked a queen bed room and got upgraded to a two room suit, fully equipped kitchen. That was a surprise. Rooms are slightly old but clean enough. We like it how they are ECO friendly by not providing too many toiletries.

Oakwood is a charming place to stay. The staff are extraordinarily welcoming and eager to please. The beds are comfortable and the rooms inviting. The dining room is bright and spacious and the delicious breakfast is tastefully presented.

Boycott Oakwood Guangzhou!!

There was nothing to like there. I was abused by the management.

Everything was of poor quality, especially the service. Management abused me , blackmailed me and then retaliated when they read my bad review of Oakwood property. I would suggest everybody to stay as far as possible from this property. Also, I complained to Booking customer service and since complaints for Chinese hotels go directly to a Chinese call center, the equally bigoted response and the same abusive treatment of me, the foreigner, happened. They refused to do anything about it.

Disaster

Staff are untrained, arrogant, rude, and clueless. Cleanliness does not exist ad a concept. Cockroaches crawl and float in the swimming pool. When I reported it to the exceptionally rude male staff by the swimming pool he caught cockroach with the net and with the cockroach being in the net, he continued cleaning the swimming pool with the same net with the vockroach in it. Dispeakable! I complained to management, but they did nothing. Housekeeping is horrendous, room was never properly cleaned and the staff don't use disinfecting chemicals to clean it, but just the same cloth for all surfaces, no vacuuming, no floor cleaning, nothing. Dishes were not washed. General manager of the hotel was never available and accessible just like a little Emperor - too big to address directly his/her guests. Arrogance is the key word for this property. People are allowed to abuse other people at the gym as arrogant hotel staff does not follow their own rules set for the gym. Staff of the hotel abuses the guests with their cell phones on loud speakers with music turned to maximum. They did not compensate me in any way although I have be here for almost 20 days, and will stay at least one more week due to business arrangements. Air conditioners are not working well, but staff expects of me to pretend as if they are working. And, this is just to scratch the surface. The general manager should be fired and should never be allowed to work in hospitality industry.
