Great location in the city center, very clean facilities, friendly staff (especially the staff taking care of the parking spaces and welcoming the customers arriving).
Some construction going on, so could not check out all facilities
4.2
Good location, nice rooftop bar, great reception area. Staff were so attentive and helpful!
Basic rooms, clean, but not as nice as the reception area. San Jose itself is very disappointing compared to the rest of Costa Rica!
4.2
The staff was exceptionally helpful. Spotless and comfortable. A pleasant oasis in San Jose.
4.2
Extra attention to detail, eclectic design elements, and rooftop patio helped this hotel stand out. Great location as well.
Free breakfast!
4.2
staff was so kind and helpful. the rooftop terrace was amazing!
we didn’t have a great view from the room but it was very comfortable and clean
4.2
it was a hidden gem in the CBD. The restaurant & staff were great!
it would have been good to have tea & coffee in your room

Location is great and the kindness and client orientation of some of their staff at front desk (Mr Fabian) and breakfast restaurant (two young boys, both teuly kind)
Front Desk staff. Unfortunately, two young ladies. They were talking over the phone with no respect that client was in front of her waiting for several minutes. They were resolving their own issues. No kind at all.

Great location and the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a while.

They offered me breakfast on to go as I had an early flight..

Great location. The room could use some updating, very old furniture, uncomfortable bed, and overpriced. For the price, I expected a modern room with amenities.
At checkout, I was charged more than the Booking confirmation. When asked why, the girl at the front desk had numerous explanations that were unfounded.
1 - She said the charges were in colones and not dollars. I was aware of that and I also know the exchange rate and the charge was still too high. I pressed for an explanation.
2 - She said the total included additional charges for taxes and fees. The booking total price already includes taxes and fees. I pressed further.
3 - She said I ordered “snacks” that were billed to my room and showed me receipts that were stapled to the room form I signed at check in. The signed receipts were NOT my signature. When I told her it wasn’t my signature, she said “maybe your husband ordered them.” I was traveling SOLO.
It wasn’t until I insisted the extra charges be removed, then someone came over to speak with her in Spanish and suddenly she apologized and said it was a mistake.
After going back and forth, the correction was made and I signed the corrected charge receipt. Then I asked her to compare the signatures and she saw the other receipts were NOT my signature.
I don’t appreciate that she tried to imply *I* was wrong and explain all the bogus reasons I was charged more when none of them were true. It makes me question the integrity of the staff so I won’t stay there again.
The interaction was very weird and it makes me wonder how often they do that and get away with it, assuming a foreigner won’t understand exchange rate or pay attention to their bill.
Foreign visitors…BEWARE of sneaky charges and pay close attention to your bill at checkout.
4.2
Lovely hotel especially from the upper deck or lobby. The flowers and chandelier and restaurant were very nice with yummy foods! The prices were not bad for a high-end location and view. The rooms were large with jacuzzi tubs, and the beds were comfy. Location was an easy walk to most of the museums and parks in the City of San Jose. Parking was convenient and the staff was nice.
I wish the jets in the jacuzzi tubs worked. We had 2 rooms and neither worked. More of a selection of drinks in the lobby store. Also, parking was a little tight when tour busses dropped off tourists and then you could get out.
4.2
The front desk staff were extremely helpful with taxis, shuttle reservations, and directions, all with professionalism and friendly.
4.2
excellent location, great staff, lovely breakfast, beautiful rooftop bar and food. Very quirky hotel.
The room we had was very comfortable but seemed very bare and frugally furnished for a superior double.
4.2
Friendly helpful staff, clean room, very nice breakfast.
Location felt unsafe at night. Food and drink in restaurant was a little pricy and very ordinary. Room adequate and I guess city prices apply.
4.2
Great food, nice facilities and we were given a free upgrade.
4.2
location, terrace and restaurant.
staff at breakfast and parking especially nice.
uneven staff at reception and restaurant.
room design was poor as to bathroom especially (too small)
4.2
The room is spacious and the property was very well furnished, designed and beautiful in the middle or the messy downtown. El Presidente is an oasis in the city.
The jet vents in the jacuzzi were dirty and contained muck. If turned on and used it would have been non romantic and filthy. The vents must be cleaned and sanitized well. There is no short cut.
4.2
The room and especially the bathroom were very spacious. The breakfast buffet was very good with a lot of different options. The hotel is located in the center near Plaza de la Cultura which is a very nice place to discover the city center.
The price is to high for what you get. The room is furnitured in a very basic way.
4.2
the staff were great
location was not safest area
4.2
A nice selection of breakfast items.
Room and bathroom were dated.
4.2
Friendly staff, nice small and hip hotel. Rooms are nice.
Location is not very nice part of town, but Uber to cool, safer area in under 5 minutes.
Hotel restaurant like nice and has a good vibe, but food was very underwhelming.
4.2
Comfortable hotel. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
Menu in the terrace restaurant was quite limited.
