My room had been recently refurbished. I was extremely happy with it for the class of hotel and price and with a good breakfast included. It was handy for the beach, Shanklin Old Town , good restaurants and buses. The staff were exceptional, not only friendly but helpful above and beyond expected, managing and helping me resolve problems not of their making. The breakfast room, comfortable seating area and entertainment area and bar were good. There is also free wifi
Any improvements would dictate a higher star rating and therefore price. For the price paid there was nothing I could suggest.

First time staying at this hotel and it was fairly easy to find and within walking distance of the bus station in Shanklin. The hotel has a map of Shanklin available at the reception, so you can find out where to go to get to places nearby.
From the Red Jet terminal the No.1 bus leaves from outside the Co-Op store nearby to Newport and the No.3 bus from Newport goes to Shanklin via Rookley, Wroxall & Ventnor at the moment due to various landslip road closures in the area; but travel around the island is pretty easy by bus. Bus timetables are available at the Red Funnel Red-Jet terminal in West Cowes, Ferry terminal in East Cowes; at Fishbourne (wightlink) and Ryde (Red Funnel).
The hotel is quite an old property with quite a few corridors and stairs and does not have a lift to use, however it does have a few rooms on the ground floor available. Though I had a comfortable & quiet (except for the rooks nesting in the roof above) single room on the top floor with a window out to the street below. Plenty of storage but a small room with a single bed.
Breakfast was included in the price and I had a Full English cooked breakfast (pork sausage, bacon, egg, fried tomato, fried bread & baked beans) with a good helping of toast, butter, jam & cup of tea - just right to set you up for exploring the island more. The hotel has quite a nice green area where you can sit, and relax, if you smoke there is an ashtray on the outside wall by the door. There is also a glimpse of a sea view through the foliage from the green area too. I would imagine it could very busy in high summer season and there are quite a lot of other hotels and guest houses in the vicinity.
- I'm not particularly fond of lots of stairs to get to or from my room, but though quite narrow in places, they were easy to navigate.
- Filling the kettle from the tap in my private bathroom was a right pain; the sink was almost the same size as the kettle, which made getting any water in the kettle quite a problem; could have done with having a small jug available for filling the kettle.
- there was a small bedside table on the right of the bed and a radiator next to the bed on the left side, but as I'm used to having a place to put things down on my left side of the bed; a narrow shelf over the radiator would be a useful addition.
- I had to hunt for a mains 3-pin socket to be able to charge my phone up, I found a couple of Uk 3-pin sockets & also a couple of (what looked like) old UK round pin sockets, The most useful was tucked down on the wall next to the radiator, but to use it I had to move the bed,

Great location. Room was basic but clean and slept fine. Hotel seems to be very popular with coach trips.

The hotel was awesome I really enjoyed it and as a last minute booking, it was also in a perfect place
The only thing I didn't like was the time of the breakfast as wish it ran for two hours

there is no receptionist from 11pm to 7.30am and when we arrived, the bed sheet was covered with blood spots and seemed wasn’t change. when we informed the morning receptionist, he asked us that we should’ve informed them at night but it wasn’t anyone there!
there is no shampoo and any toiletries.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the Hotel is ideally located to the centre of town. The room and food was good for the money charged. No complaints.

The young man who served us breakfast both days as excellent customer skills. The hotel wasn't far from Shanklin Town centre.
The room was out dated with good old wood chip wall paper walls and ceiling. The walls between the rooms are very thin we could hear them use the toilet and fill their kettle and make a cuppa at 2.40am. The bedside light bulb was covered in dust and the quilt cover had a large stain on it.

it was ideally situated, close to the cliff lift for the beach and a 5 minute walk to Shanklin village. Our room was spacious and had a side sea view.
There were quite a few steps up to our room and the room was in need of redecoration.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Well located for the beach and close to the bus station if you’re not driving.
The only disappointment was the kitchen was closed in the evening.

The location was good and the room spacious albeit somewhat tired. Breakfast was fair.
When I tried to move the bed our son slept in closer to ours I discovered all sort of rubbish underneath - a whole empty chocolates box was a particular shock.

Perfect location, warm, comfortable room and bed.
Breakfast was excellent, bar with entertainment was spot on. Staff were all very polite and helpful.
Will stay here again.
Only slight issue was the hotel parking, not a problem as on street parking overnight till 10am.

Good shower, comfortable bad
The appointed emergency exit for our part of the large hotel ( fire exit) which should be unlocked at all times, was permanently locked. The only way out was a very long walk through six reception areas to the main entrance.

The Dining Room and Bar very nice.
The room very small, toilet door kept sticking consequences had to push door hard to get out.
Up in the gods, said there were stairs but did not expect so many.
Need to advertise in room about wifi being available.
