Lovely pub, nice and cosy. Friendly staff

We were only here for 1 night and the accommodation was all we needed.
Bonus that we could get an evening meal after our drive.... The fish and chips was excellent.
I had the cooked breakfast before leaving, which was tasty and ample for me.
Very pleased I booked here.

Very clean hotel with cosy wee bar attached (nice choice of beers)
Staff were very helpful (in particular Jennifer). Comfortable fresh room, good bed, decent TV, coffee machine.... All boxes ticked.

We have stayed at the Red Lion a couple of times in the past and whilst it’s always been OK, the rooms really needed a good refresh.
This time - Wow!! The room has been totally refurbished, fully decorated and all the furniture replaced. New lighting fitted and a full bathroom refurbishment as well. It looked really good and the colour scheme made the room look much bigger.
Staff are always very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
We got back to the RL at about 10.15 on Sunday evening after a function and were hoping for a couple of beers but sadly, the pub was closed.
The only other minor gripe is the bedroom window which is “questionable” but maybe they are difficult to replace with the building being very old (possibly listed?).

The staff and locals Are very friendly I would go back again for the price was excellent
4.3
Staff and owners were lovely. Bustling pub with good atmosphere
Rooms were basic, walls very thin so could hear TV or snoring from next door all night. No handwash or toiletries of any kind. Very hot in the room and the area smells of sewage from the local water treatment works.
4.3
Very comfortable bed, quiet room, very friendly staff
No shower gel by the bath/shower - not a problem for me as I take my own.
4.3
Very nice and friendly pub. Room was much better than we expected, very comfortable beds and quiet. Friendly efficient staff and good choice of drinks - recommend the cocktails!! Breakfast was ok and lovely coffee. All in all a nice little break away, within easy reach of attractions and short walk to the local village which had a good selection of pubs and nice food.
Breakfast was ok not fantastic but adequate, I believe they were struggling for staff that day which probably influenced it but it was more than edible, a little more choice would have made it better.

The staff couldn't do enough for us and even stayed up after closing for a late check in

This is a basic hotel that provides great value for money and is super clean and tidy- cheap rooms normally come with a cleanliness tab but this is fantastic. Decent breakfast also and really friendly staff 👍
Pub is decent also
Room is small and basic - No re-supply of water each day.

The room was large and they'd set up the bed for my daugter nicely. The beds were all really comfy and had plenty of pillows . It had obviously just been decorated. The shower was powerful.
The price was supposed to include breakfast but we were told we actually had to pay extra the next morning. There was also no soap left in the room, though there was a shampoo/conditioner that could be used. The room was also a bit cold but it had iced over overnight, we just couldn't find the heating switch.

The room was on the ground floor at the end of a corridor that made ease of access to and from the car park and the restaraunt/ bar. In addition room was quiet and no traffic/road noise.
The room was coolish although unable to fully open the window due to security restraints. Glad I took my fan !!
Beds were very comfortable.
Bathroom facilities good.
Staff's attitude good.
Breakfast bordering on the meagre, not as depicted in photographs. No tomato, no black pudding, 1rasher of bacon,1 sausage, 1 hash brown, 1 mushroom, egg(s) as preferred, lodsa baked beans served on a large plate to look more and toast. Good coffee!!
If you wanted any cereals, jams, sauces, fruit juices etc, had to ask, No menu. Everything over and above supplied, had to ask.
Had an evening meal. In my case informed that could have a beer and steak for £10. BEWARE. Seen it on their website, However when push come to shove, not so. No menu, word of mouth and differs depending who you speak to. A long story, eventually made good, but hastle I didn't need on my Wife's Birthday!!
There was another couple we spoke to and they had a similar experience, so not just me!!
If you park in the rear car park under the trees, it's nice and cool, but the birds may take a disliking to your parking. You may need to clean it!!
A bit disconserting is the security notice about valuables left in your car. Perhaps this should be ammended to cover the birds and the trouble they can cause. Obviously a problem area concerning vehicles and restraints on windows.
Had to ask for bathmats.
Room NOT serviced during our 2 night stay and beverages NOT replenished.
Last gripe is ground floor accomodation can be noisey from those above!!
