Great location in southwold

Really friendly and welcoming host, lovely bathroom, good breakfast, great location, the building had lots of character

The room was quite small for the two of us and not a lot of room to put our things

be warned, stairs to all rooms and the top floor suite is particularly difficult with a final steep, uneven and windy stairs.

Birthday weekend away

Excellent location and a beautiful historic hotel. Staff were so helpful and made you feel very welcome. We also had a great meal in the restaurant. Overall a fantastic stay

A very enjoyable two night stay. Would definitely recommend it.

Lovely location, room was very nice with comfy bed. Bathroom was great size with brilliant bath. Room was clean and well maintained. Fresh coffee was a lovely addition. Staff were very friendly and evening meal was good.

Exceptional

The charm of one of the oldest buildings in Southwold, coupled with modern facilities which were clean and comfortable. The owner, Andy, is a smashing host and the breakfast was excellent. Good location, close to all amenities and a short walk to the beach. Although parking is on the common, it is only a 3 minute walk, with luggage drop off/collect achieved by stopping at the rear entrance for a few minutes on arrival/departure.

This was our 2nd stay at Sutherland House and once again it exceeded expectations

Very comfortable room, friendly owner, no-fuss checkin and a very tasty dinner.

Not much they can do about it but having the ability to park a little closer would make it even better.

It was a weekend away with my daughter and was perfect to be in the town centre.

Dinner and breakfast were excellent. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.

The only room available when we booked just had a bath, no shower. At my age (76) I find showers easier and would not book a bath only room again.

Very good on the most part

The rooms were very nice well laid out and tastefully furnished I loved the massive settee ! In the lounge Dinner was very nice on the Saturday night We didn’t have the breakfast there I thought it was rather overpriced So we had our breakfast elsewhere

Not to keen with the shower being in the bath and having to step out onto the floor worried about falling over ( not very tall ) and of a certain age Also there was no slip mat in the bath

The evening meal was fantastic

Over priced and the breakfast could have done with an alternative to full English, maybe some fruit and yogurts and cheese??

lovely hotel just wish we could have stayed longer.

Perfect position, clean & friendly, thoroughly recommend the full English breakfast!

not keen on the shower not easy to use. No parking at the hotel so that might be a problem if staying for longer.

Beautiful surroundings right in the heart of Southwold. We had the Garden Room, where every detail had been thought of, huge really comfy bed, high end shower room, our own private patio area with outside seating, the high quality refreshments were pure luxury.

I was disappointed initially by the early evening meal times, until I realised how hard the owners are working, with minimal staff. They are working 14 hour days, 6.5 days per week, whilst trying to look after a family. The quality of food & service that we received was exceptional and more than made up for the earlier than expected meal time. In actual fact we slept so much better having eaten earlier than normal & it gave us time to walk down to the sea, after dinner. It was a lovely way to spend the evening.

For the money very disappointed. No shower or working tv and Taylor windows is not what I expected

Very clean and spacious

No shower, most tv channels did let work, windows banging against each other(had to wedge a towel between the pains of glass ), very noisy above, below. Wouldn’t stay there again
