Localização no centro de Sassi em uma caverna ampla e super confortável, com excelente café da manhã e atendimento muito atencioso e eficiente.
Papel higiênico fica úmido devido à umidade da caverna.

The architecture, the position

The room itself was amazing, very cool to stay in a cave like hotel. We paid to visit the spa and unfortunately the hot tub wasn't working, it was quite cold. They kept trying to fix it but it seemed like it just didn't get hotter. They let us stay in the spa longer which was nice but it was disappointing. The breakfast was excellent and in a very cool setting. Overall would recommend!
Just that the spa didn't work.

The perfect place to stay in Matera.
Close to everything .and still in a quiet corner of Matera.
We parked just outside of the historic town 5min walk down to the hotel..

Outstanding, amazing - hard to find words. The staff was very friendly, the place was (and is) amazing. We absolutely need to come back.
Nothing - not to not like. If you don't like ancient history and prefer plastic hotels as all the modern ones, then don't go here.

Small room but absolutely perfect, opened on to a private courtyard so best of both worlds
Location was perfect, the main walkways were 20m away so the courtyard was pretty quiet n the main square was prob 100m away .... easy to find & get yr suitcases there
We restaurant was great

There was clear communication ahead of check-in regarding parking options and how to walk to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and treated us with a coffee and snacks upon arrival in the unique cave reception dining area.

Location good and breakfast ok
our suite (room 24) was completely damp through out. couldn’t use the nice cave section as bean bags were mouldy and soaked through. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and the whole place smelled damp. All my clothes were damp within hours of unpacking. I tried to tell the receptionist but English is not good and just about helped me get a new chair. I was not allowed to have any type of heat for our suite, so all my clothes only got wetter and my health was declining from so much damp air. I love Matera and never had problems before with staying in caves but this is place was not fit for humans to stay.

I really enjoyed the location and the authenticity of the rooms. The staff was lovely as well.
The suite was very big and comfortable, however it could’ve been filled with let’s say jacuzzi or something, for 2 people is too big and not much for the price. Also if we are paying that much, the spa could be free, but it’s not. I didn’t like that I have to pay 30€ per person to use it. Also it was very humid in the room and it’s smells a bit.

great location, great breakfast, lovely hotel
Aircon was broken and was not fixed during our stay. Temp in room was a minimum of 27 degrees at night. Uncomfortable for sleep.

One of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed in. The cave suit was very spacious, every little detail was in place. The host was very responsive. They let us check- in at 12:30pm 2h and 30 min before the check- in time because our room was ready. Left us a map of all the places worth visiting. Nice breakfast. The whole atmosphere of Matera was gathered in this place and I am very happy that we had the opportunity to experience it. There is even a cinema room the cave suit, totally amazing! I would recommend it to everybody who wants to experience Matera.

we stayed in the room with the terrace for a week, the room and terrace were huge and comfortable.
bed was comfy and shower was lovely.
the breakfast options were great and we loved our morning strokes with the waiters dog.
all the staff were super nice and they even surprised us with a bag of goodies as a thank you for staying for a longer period than usual.
location is fantastic, only downside to staying in the Sassi is dragging your case there and back.
some sun loungers on the terrace would have been a great addition to the table and chairs.

Truly an amazing place to stay in the heart of Matera - excellent location. Gorgeous apartment-like room with a very comfortable bed. Wonderful breakfast as well. Excellent concierge staff who are willing to help you with anything you need, including booking a tour or spending an hour in their spa. [Note: the spa you see in photos is not in your room, but separate and available if you book at least 1 day in advance. You get access to the hot tub and some other amenities. After walking around Matera for a day, we wish we could have taken advantage of this! But our stay was too short.] We are so glad we decided to spend the night in Matera instead of just doing a day trip. There is much more to do here than it seems. We were surprised by the liveliness of the city, even at night, bustling with people and some of the best restaurants we ate at in the region.
Two things you should know:
1. There is no parking in Matera. But you truly need a car to get here. We parked in a secure garage right outside the city that offers a shuttle service into Matera.
2. Cars are not allowed into the Sassi, where the hotel is located, so there is quite a walk to get to the hotel from where a shuttle or taxi can drop you off. There are many stairs and the roads are slippery - quite a trek with luggage. I would have stayed more than one night if I had known how much work it was going to be to get in and out with luggage - but well worth the trip anyway.

The Location is perfect, half-way up "the hill" from P. San Pietro and down from Piazza Sedile. -- what that means is that you will never have to walk up 150 to 190 steps at once .
The Staff was absolutely wonderful.! They helped us with every small request that we made.
The room was clean & spacious --We enjoyed its Jacuzzi.
This king-bed was The Most Comfortable Bed so far in Italy.
And, their morning breakfast was also #1 --- Eggs and meats every morning, a vast choice of breads & fruit & juices ..... and it was so beautifully presented.
We were given the King Suite...a real original cave...complete with a long underground corridor where people used to keep the animals --- dark & cool --- an old cistern --- about as authentic as you could possibly get --- and yet, more comfort than you could ever imagine.
This place is a winner....a perfect choice for the ancient city of Matera.

Antico Convicino Suites exceeded our expectations. What amazing accommodation. The modernisation of the "cave" has been completed to the highest specification. They definitely have the Wow factor! The location is excellent, within the old town. Free parking nearby but I would recommend just taking an overnight bag as the old town is all cobbled streets, hilly & pedestrianised. Matera is a fantastic destination & well worth a visit. It was a very memorable experience.

We had great, very large rooms that were really special.

The pictures don’t do the rooms justice! if you’ve never slept in a place like this, it’s really beyond your expectations. You’re surrounded by a unique blend of ancient history and carefully selected modern comforts.

The hosts were gracious and helpful with recommendations on food, sight seeing and hikes. The room was huge and comfortable and so quiet. It was a great experience.
Shower leaked. Signage to locate could be improved. Maybe a map to find in the maze of caves would have been helpful ahead of time.

very special, unique, lots of space . comfortable , great communication. helpful staff.
bed was ok- not the most comfortable. but it didn’t deter from enjoyment
