Fine for a night before our flight, would not stay longer

Good location. Secure. Charming old building and beautiful tile floors. Accepted us even though we arrived an hour early. Spacious room. Onsite restaurant is convenient.

Alarm system prohibits guests from coming and going when they want, and receptionist was often not present at the desk. We eventually had to get someone to give us the code so we could leave and get back in. Bathroom was outdated and not cleaned properly (there were hairs and debris on shower ledge). No hooks or bars to hang items in bathroom. Sink was peeling and paint was old and chipped. Windows had no screens and were left open. No a/c. Television was in the room but did not function at all. There was a leak in the ceiling outside of our door, in the hallway, and floor was very wet.

Friendly people. Cared about my disability. Nice restaurant. Great location.

The lock on the door was not very secure. Getting in and out of the building without staff.

Basic but comfortable, good people and a good bed and the best breakfast in Costa Rica!

The building is lovely. The staff were exceptional and it was the best breakfast I had anywhere in Costa Rica. The little Italian restaurant is friendly reasonable (by Costa Rica standards) and the food is excellent. The women who work there and who make the food were kind and helpful. I had flu while there and I felt really cared for. Good mattress and lots of hot water was also much appreciated.

Well located hotel with helpful staff

The hotel was perfectly located for us as we had to catch the TicaBus very early in the morning. The staff was very welcoming, and gave us good tips for our (very short) stay. The hotel was generally very quiet.

The room was basic (but considering the price, no big surprise!) and the walls are paper thin. You could hear people talking on the other side of the wall. Luckily for us, everyone went to bed quickly!

Perfect place for our required stay!

Breakfast was basic but excellent. Also had lunch in the restaurant, it was amazing! Highly recommend stopping for a bite here even if you are not staying. Location - on a busy road, so noisy in the morning, however we did choose for the central location to the bus and car rental Staff was wonderful

Disappointing

Breakfast was good, location was good, staff were friendly enough.

Overall, this hotel was of a poor standard. Several items in the room were broken or on the verge of breaking, such as the ceiling fan, toilet flush, and the taps. The walls were also paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the next room.

Amir and his team are great hosts...very attentive, accomadating, and made me feel very at home for my 5 nights. I'd recommend a stay at Amir's for all of the above, also it's location and has an amazing Italian restaurant on the corner of the hotel.

Great little hostel for a night stay in San Jose

15 minutes taxi from international airport. Emir was a great host. Old, classic bedrooms with alot of room and a few quirks. Breakfast was superb, Omelette went down very well!

I liked the position from Ticabus and generally location. Amir was a great person and welcomed us. All conversation prior on whatsup was also helpful. I thank him for everything.

Authenic home style oasis

Really unique stay in what felt like a friend’s house much thanks to the amazing owner. The property has lots of old world charm, great breakfast - and a cute pizza corner/bar attached to it. Even though it’s by no means fancy it’s clean and curated. Could stay for much longer.

Perfect escape in San Jose

I had a great time at Casa Aldea. The room was comfortable and met all my expectations. The wifi worked perfectly throughout my stay. The breakfast was delicious. Emir was an excellent host and made sure I had a wonderful stay even though he was traveling at the moment. His sister Merve was absolutely amazing. She even showed me around the area and we had some great conversations. Thank you guys for making me feel at home!
