The charm of the structure and the land it is upon. A mix of jungle and flower fauna (with chickens, dogs and a cat mixed in). The pool is a delight as well. Oh…and the BEST shower!
Leaving….until next year.

Day 1: breakfast was bread with butter and jam, along with good coffee and plain scrambled eggs. Extremely basic.
Day 2: I repeatedly asked an employee for breakfast for 30 minutes and was completely ignored. I told him I had a very limited timeframe due to another reservation, but he continued to talk to other French guests.
Day 3: no breakfast, only 1 cup of coffee.
The owner and staff only spoke French, and could therefore barely understand any English or Spanish.
Owner only speaks French, speaks very little English and communication was wrong multiple times. She told me to reserve a ferry to Jaco beach <2hrs before departure but it was >2hrs before departure which cost me an extra 4hrs driving time. Lots of deep mud on the property, which got tracked into my rental car, into the hotel room without anyone cleaning it despite being there for 3 days. The room I booked specifies A/C, but when I got there it was only a fan. Owner gave me a different room with AC and said it was $60/night. When it came time to pay the bill, she wanted $200, instead of $180. The first night the property lost power due to a storm, so I was unable to use any of the amenities and had to take a cold shower. She then brought the price down to $140. Even though I paid for 3 breakfasts, I only received 1 but did get 2 cups of coffee.
Owner's husband and child spoke a bit of english, they were helpful. Owner let me use a vacuum cleaner for the rental car at no extra charge. Location is 20mins from Malpais, 40mins from Santa Teresa on really bad dirt side roads. Had to ask Owner to tell her children to stop screaming at 10:40pm next door as I couldn't sleep. AC turns off automatically after a couple of hours, meaning you wake up in the middle of the night in 90 degrees. Brought my service dog with me, but the owner's dogs were barking like crazy at him whenever I let him outside, despite him not engaging. The owner said it was because I didn't tell her I was bringing a service dog, but she had no recall or control over her barking dogs. The location was beautiful but the owner could have mitigated the excessive mud by laying down gravel, especially since it's rainy season in Costa Rica for 6 months of the year.

The owners had a young son close to my daughter’s age. They had a good time playing together. The beautiful garden landscaping, pool, full kitchen, one of the few hotels with air conditioning in the area, and safety of the property and the whole area. The convenient walking location to the market and restaurants. The Cabuya area is very tranquil and beautiful with less tourist like traps. There is hardly any crime in the area which is, also, very nice. Tap water is safe to drink. The beaches in the local area are not swimming friendly with all the sharp rocks. So the delightful pool made the hot weather enjoyable to cool off after some adventures around town. Also, there was plenty of unique tropical wild life to observe and enjoy in the early mornings.
The noisy barking dog the first night of the owners. We addressed that issues to following morning and it was corrected. The leaking bathroom sink on the last two nights. Not the hotel’s fault but just the location of being in a remote jungle. We should have reserved a SUV/4 wheel drive for a vehicle instead of a compact car. The dirt road between Montezuma and Cabuya was terrible. Also, we had spiders and scorpion inside our room.

Very friendly staff and set in lovely grounds with a great pool. It's a great value place to stay for a few days and enjoy the genuine Tico town of Cabuya. They made me very welcome.
Cabin was very hot. I think a standing fan in addition to the overhead fan would be a great idea.

very nice garden, swimming-pool, large room
The room has no real window and the 10$ per person breakfast raises the price to the standards of much better hotels.

Really pleasant stay, would recommend for a nice relaxing time.
Very hospitable family fun vibe.
Little too far out of town, so you need wheels!

Nice place, clean and spacious, good dinner
If you don't speak French, it's hard to communicate with the owners, they speak very little Spanish or English.
The apartment has a little kitchen outside but the equipment is really poor. If you really want to cook you need more equipment which they probably would borough you but they were often away...

The breakfast was good. The grounds were lovely. Pleasant Spanish conversation with free shots of the banana liquor made on the grounds.
Rude Belgians prefer to speak in bad Spanish instead of the perfect English they speak if you absolutely force them. They fake mute even when their guest need assistance.
Was that art?
Room was moldy and dusty. Not clean, especially for a pandemic. The pool was very dirty.

Carol and Sergio are the perfect hosts, so nice and welcoming! We loved having all their animals around, we loved the garden and the area. The pool is a nice place to chill and the rooms are big and comfortable. We would highly recommend taking a break at this lovely place!
It would've been nice if the room would've been cleaned during our stay and equipped with new towels. Maybe a mirror in the bathroom would be nice!
