Very large, homey room. Great kitchen facilities.
Hot water was a little lacking. Fine if you're not getting a shower.

Goats!!
Walls between rooms were pretty thin and someone snored very loudly all night.

Lovely country stay!

There was a kitchenette where we could make our own food. It had everything we needed.
Honestly everything was great.

We loved our stay! We are a family of five (with three children ages 18, 16 and 12). We stayed in the apartment above the goat barn. The apartment was cozy and quiet. All of us found the beds to be very comfortable. Compared to staying in a hotel where we are split up across two unattached rooms, Skalatjorn Guesthouse was one of our favorites places we stayed in Iceland! And the goats!!! Several baby goats had just been born the week before, and they could not have been cuter. Given that Icelandic goats are endangered, it was great to help support Helena and Stefan’s efforts to breed these animals to increase their population.

Very comfy quiet relaxing and the goats were a bonus thankyou Helena.

Helena is very sweet and accommodating and the property is charming and clean. The little kitchenette was helpful since there is no breakfast included in the room, so we were able to have our own food. The location is pretty out of the way which could be seen as a plus or a negative, depending on what you're looking for. We saw the Northern Lights the night we stayed, which is a wonderful memory. The bathroom is large, which was helpful because we went to the Blue Lagoon and had a lot of things that needed to be hung out to dry.
Felt a little stuffy at times, ventilation could be a bit better. But not a big deal.

Very clean appartment with a lot of detail.
Spacious and comfy.
Can be noisy. Bed is against kitchen of next appartment, heard cooking/talking until midnight.

Very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and convenient with the large table. Beautiful Sunset. We were too tired for the goat tour, but they had waited for us.
Tried to drop some stuff off on way to The Secret Lagoon, but no one home. Northern lights did not come out. I forgot to take my adapters. Fairly steep steps.

Everything
Little pricey for being in the middle of no where

Difference to other guesthouses - here you have completely own kitchen, not shared... Very good place, very good...:)

Everything was wonderful. A lot of useful information was provided before arrival. Helena greeted us and is warm, friendly, and helpful as can be. We met her goats (as well as her dog and a cat) and she proudly told us about the work she is putting in to support the Icelandic goat population. The surrounding countryside is peaceful and serene. The cozy studio room met all of our needs and had a lot of personal touches. The kitchen had all the essentials (no oven though). You definitely feel like you are staying at someone's home, which is a wonderful experience in itself.
It can get a little steamy if you cook in the studio, but this is just a heads up to others to keep in mind if you are thinking about what to prepare. Keeping the windows open and the bathroom fan on was not a problem and advised when cooking.

The studio is all new, cozy, perfectly clean, equipped with everything needed (also the kitchen is well equipped) and with a sweet, personal touch that really makes it unique! Helena is the best guest, welcoming us with muffins in our apartment and with the best goat tour! Seeing and cuddling the goats while listening to Helena’s stories and lessons about these animals is really a must do! More than recommended! Thank you Helena!
more goat time!!

The views were fantastic and the goats were so cute. Wish we had more time to see them. The room was very spacious for our family of five (3 teenagers). Great for our first night in Iceland!

Nice and friendly owner. Little muffins in the rooms were very welcoming. The goats and cats and dog were very cute. Had a great time staying there. Wheelchair friendly.
Restricted hot water as they only have one heater. Showering earlier might be best and so do help to save hot water for others.
