The breakfast was excellent and the staff were most helpful and efficient.
The bed wasn't of the highest comfort and the floorboards above the room were very creaky.

Amazing friendly staff, amazing beer battered fish and chips tea. Amazing full breakfast. Nice location, close to Dovedale stepping stones and Ashbourne town. Great parking at the back. Clean room with tea making facilities with nice tea and coffee. Spare blankets and extra pillows in the cupboard. Nice towels. Room was airy and had a fan if required. Loved our stay here thankyou :)

Food was very good, staff very friendly, bed comfortable and room was nice

Highly recommend the Royal Oak. We arrived early as we was attending a wedding near by and the staff was very helpful in arranging an early check in and cooking us a full English breakfast even though the kitchen had stopped serving. The breakfast was delicious!
If we ever happen to be in the area again we will most definitely stay here and/or drop in for a meal - thank you!

Excellent breakfast!
The Royal Oak is situated just out of Ashbourne close to the start of the Tissington Trail and it has a large car park.
The bar menu was excellent and the food was very good (if you want to eat book a table as the restaurant is very popular). If we stay in Ashbourne again we will try to book a table here.
Very comfortable bed.
The en-suite light is motion sensor operated so it comes on for 4+ minutes every time you enter; the door to the en-suite is panelled glass and at the foot of the bed so every time one of us used the loo or wanted a glass of water in the night the light from the en-suite filled the entire room and there was no way of turning the light off which was extremely annoying.
There was a lot of noise coming from the room above our room, like running around and furniture being moved which went on for quite a while.
I'd recommend the owner/manager spends a night in that room (with someone who pee's a lot) to experience the ridiculousness of the en-suite light and the racket from the room above.

Great service & great food at a reasonable price. Perfect for an overnight stop for Alton Towers.
4.2
Lovely quaint traditional pub with super friendly and accommodating staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast and the family room was perfect for us (2 adults 3 children)
100% would book to stay here again
We all loved it!
No complaints at all

Felt welcome the moment we walked in, locals all very friendly and a certainly would book again. Food was great with a nice varied menu. 👍
Not much really. Each night is different.
Our first night was noisy downstairs but they do say some nights louder than others on their website.
4.2
Staff were friendly.
Beds, rooms and bathrooms were clean with nice added extras like tea and coffee making facilities
Extra bedding/blankets if needed
Cosy/country pub feel to it
Excellent food, both restaurant meal and breakfast.
Good location for Alton towers travel.
Good location to local supermarkets
Rooms could do with some modernisation/general repair. Bath was creaky and lights were quite dark in the room. Bathroom fan and tap very noisy and light was motion sensors - so going to the toilet once children were asleep was a bit of a quick motion so not to wake them.
My pre-teen would say the wifi isn’t the strongest.
Second day at breakfast didn’t feel as organised as the first, coffee machine wasn’t on, order was slightly wrong to food but we didn’t complain as staff member was very lovely and appeared on her own

Made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great and evening meals very tasty and very large portions. Very good value for money. We'll definitely come back.

The land lady was very accommodating for breakfast as I needed an early start for a show

Friendly staff, great breakfast, good water pressure, nice bathroom, good WiFi, good value for money.
Carpet was falling apart, though better in the room than on the stairs. Our room was very hot and the fan provided was very noisy.
4.2
Breakfast was amazing! The shower pressure was also excellent.
The bed is quite squeaky but it is very comfortable.
4.2
Breakfasts are excellent, and served by a friendly member of staff.
Bed size was a little on the squashy side

It was a lovely place to say clean and tidy the pub food was excellent. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. I would recommend it!
My room was above the kitchen/prep area, and the staff just need to not let the door bang when they are constantly in and out. This didn't affect my stay, but I would imagine others not being happy about it. Just a bit of constructive advice.

Room 7 was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.
Main road was a little noisy with the windows open.
4.2
Very friendly staff, nice room, food was lovely and you have to try the fudge cake. Best one I’ve had
No problems

Excellent evening dinner.
Excellent breakfast, although we prefer crunchy toast.
Lovely area for having a drink on the patio .
The staff were extremely friendly.
Excellent location.
4.2
Nice room, great shower and a bath. Food very good
The only possible downside for us was being across from the pub when it rained but it was only a few feet.
4.2
Easy to find and perfectly located for Alton Towers, we also enjoyed going to Ashbourne and Matlock Bath.
The room was a little tired but nothing to complain about.
4.2

Great pub, obviously do a lot of local trade. Food was excellent and room was clean, cosy and well stocked with hot drinks, toiletries, spare pillows, blanket etc. Breakfast was excellent too.
Coffee at breakfast was a bit weak.
4.2
Location was great. We travelled for alton towers and it was only a short drive away. Lovely beer garden which was a suntrap, food was great and big portions. Breakfast choices were large and varied and really set us up for the day ahead.
Glass door on bathroom leaves you feeling a bit exposed. It also allows automatic bathroom light in to the bedroom in the middle of the night. Just a little curtain on the door or frosting windows would solve it.
4.2
Everything was excellent, staff were friendly, room was lovely and clean really spacious, breakfast was amazing.
Would highly recommended
Single bed mattress was a little uncomfortable with the springs but my daughter slept all night so can't of been bad
