The Bluff Beach Retreat is an absolute paradise. We felt comfortable from the first minute. The beach, the jungle, the nature is breathtaking. Added to this is the warmth and helpfulness of the hosts. We will miss the breakfast, the beautiful room, the sounds of nature, the sloths and monkeys. It was very sad for us and our children to drive. We will definitely come back.
Everything was just perfect! Thank you!

The accommodation is great. In the middle of the Forrest. Eco environment. Away from the noise of the town. Extremely friendly ✨Anita and Augusto Bluff Beach Retreat. From
Bumpy road for 30 minutes. And in the rain season the sea is very dangerous.

Beautiful property. Staff were warm and accommodating, treated us like family. Rooms are simple but clean. No A/C but didn’t need it surprisingly! Lulled to sleep with sounds of birds, monkeys and waves crashing 20 feet away.
It’s about 30min drive (very bumpy unpaved road) one way into town. No markets otherwise so if you need some bread or milk… you’re outta luck and will have to pay $15 each way to go into town. Also, bluff beach is not for swimming, very strong waves so we couldn’t enjoy the beach. The other side of the island has the calmer ocean but paying $50+ and having to ride for 1hour+ to get to boca del Drago on the other side didn’t seem worth it.

Everything except the road to the hotel was great! truly great. But it is not for everyone. It is like living in the jungle , with no AC so you can hear the sounds

It is situated at the beach, surrounded by lots of greens, and indeed very quiet.
If breakfast can be provided, it will be more convenient.

The property is gorgeous! You can see beautiful flora and fauna all around you. The beach is across the street, and it’s very quiet. We stayed in the casita, and it was very spacious. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.
It is far from town (about 30 mins in a taxi on rough roads). Although the beach was beautiful, the large waves don’t make it suitable for swimming. There weren’t many restaurants nearby that were open.

Very well kept nicely designed beach house in amazing location with pool.
Steve the host was laid back and friendly, great attention to service…super nice guy.
Karan was also very helpful…
Would stay again!

This property is picture perfect. The bungalows are beautiful and spacious with all the comforts. It's a perfect mix of simplicity and comfort. Gardens are beautiful and peppered with sloths and, while we didn't see them, we could hear the Howler Monkeys on a regular basis. One of the best things that made our entire stay at BBR and in Bocas are the managers of BBR, Karen and Steve, are incredible and did a phenomenal job planning our activities and transportation - teeing us up for snorkeling, surfing, horseback riding, and everything in between. I can't say enough about them and how their efforts made a huge difference in our overall experience in Bocas. The Beach is picture perfect and must be one of the most beautiful picturesque beaches in the world. The nearby properties are also beautiful for meals and everyone was incredibly warm and friendly. Last but not least, the breakfast at BBR might be one of the best of my lifetime! Steve's homemade coconut granola is amazing, and nearly all of the breakfast is homemade and/or island sourced. The breakfast is under-advertised and a must to experience. In fact, everything about this property is under-advertised - it exceeds expectations by every measure.
Bluff Beach is out of town, however, all of the best places to stay in Bocas are going to be remote and it's worth it to have the "retreat" feel of the property that takes you off the grid.

The property is stunning in its natural beauty. The houses are not too close to each other, so privacy is not an issue. They are also sturdy, clean, and and functional. Bedrooms and bathrooms have plenty of space and are clean. Karen & Steve will make your stay incredible. Every recommendation, be it food or excursion, was a hit. Truly a wonderful place run by wonderful people.
The only, very minor comment I have is, it’s a bit of a trip into town. Our family enjoyed the remoteness, but if you’re a town person, this may be a bit too far for you.

We loved the location being in the rainforest. The breakfast was excellent. We loved hearing the wildlife as we were going to sleep. Karen and Steve could not have been better hosts! They made sure our time was special. We enjoyed riding the bikes around the property and they had a bike with a kids seat for my 2 year old son. A few things were closed due to covid-19 but we still had places to eat and tours to go on! It was absolutely worth traveling to. Also, we were a little worries about not having air conditioning, but the fan and windows being open (with optional screens) was so cool at night I almost got chilly! It was perfect! Plus being able to hear the ocean waves and animals outside was worth it.
We did not love having to take a taxi so far to get into town, but it was worth it for the beautiful location. Also, the taxi ride even was beautiful out there.
The waves are a little rough for kids but there are other beaches nearby to visit that are very calm.

We loved the pool for some chill swim. But we still went to the ocean a few times even though there are some waves. The hotel is not crowded at all. The breakfast is nice and they also provide you with water for the whole stay. We used the free bikes for some ride and also did the 3 hour horse tour which was amazing. The shower even had warm water and good pressure (not always the case on our trip). Shampoo os provided. We stayed 3 nights and didn't go once to Bocas town. A cab would cost 15 dollars one way. However there is also a cheaper shuttle bus every hour. There are two very good restaurants nearby for really good dinner and cocktails. Come here if you want to escape Bocas town for a really beautiful beach and chill stay.
