Really welcoming, low key and friendly atmosphere when we arrived after a long wet and foggy journey.. We had a family room with two singles and a king size bed and also a cabin with two singles. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Our dog was welcomed and spoilt rotten and the grandkids loved playing pool. No loud music, lovely locals, on the ball smiley staff.
Not a complaint but might be an idea to add motion sensor lights for the walkway down to the cabins... and as a dog friendly hotel (charging £10 extra per night) maybe have pet beds to offer?

We liked everything about the Poltimore Inn. Both staff and locals were very freindly and helpfull. Our room was clean and comfortable with a small patio area and a fantastic view over the surrounding countryside. The food was excellent and good value. All of the staff were freindly, efficient and could not do enough to help The chef's were even willing to serve things not on the menu where possible. Due to the location, there is little noise and no light pollution. On a clear night the stars are a wonderful sight.
We checked in on Saturday afternoon. The staff and Landlord found a suitable chest of drawers for our room by Tuesday. Excellent service.
We were staying for almost 2 weeks in one of the lodges. The only thing we didn't like was that the room didn't have a chest of drawers to store our clothes. But please read on....

There’s so many things to love about this place, the lodges are beautifully done with all you need for your stay. The views to wake up to are spectacular, take some camping chairs to make the most of the scenery on the patio. The staff were fantastic, really nice feel about the place. The full English breakfast is superb with beautiful views from the dining room. So many places to visit from this location too, we had to narrow down the options as we couldn’t fit it all in! This location is perfect for Lynton and Lynmouth (go on the cliff railway), Valley of Rocks is a must do, there’s also exmoor national park, Dunster Castle, woolacombe and Ilfracombe. Highly recommend The Poltimore Inn.
Cannot think of 1 thing!

We enjoyed their food and a view from the Back off the windows in the restaurant was very lovely.
The room that we had was on above the bar. Was very noisy, till 1 o'clock in the morning. No good for a family with young children .

This Inn is a gem! The location is great and so is the food.

This hotel greatly exceeded my expectations! Accommodation in new and modern spacious and comfortable chalets behind the pub, excellent food, great views, and they even have an observatory as they are in a dark sky reserve (booking required). And exceptional value! I would definitely stay here again!
As far as I can tell the hotel didn't have its own parking, but I parked in the village square with minimal inconvenience.

It was such a beautiful little village with stunning views. Very nice breakfasts and supper. Lots of good walking to be done. Enjoyed seeing the farm animals just below us.
There is a very steep incline to get down to the A frame cottages which was very difficult for my sister who is disabled. And getting the suitcases down and up was an effort.

Location perfect, nice and quiet. Good pub with food at the location.

Staff were friendly and professional on arrival, check in/out was quick and easy.
The lodge was spotlessly clean and well equipped, all basic necessities was provided.
The views was amazing and it was so peaceful, spent a lot of the time sitting out taking in the scenery and relaxing.
The food was lovely and a good range was offered, breakfast was served in the pub which is a short walk away, but meals are offered all day.
Nothing negative to say

Beautiful location set in the Devon countryside, lovely warm clean accommodation, very peaceful and comfy bed. The pub was excellent for food and drinks and a fantastic choice for breakfast all served hot and delicious.
Nothing bad at all to say, just a little thing could do with an extra light at night on the corner at the bottom by the lodges, was very dark until you got round to the lodge where the light came on automatically as you went past.

Nothing detracted from the experience in any way

clean and comfortable. breakfasts were fabulous. a variety of meals for kids at the pub restaurant. beds very comfortable. staff really lovely and the pace had a homely feel. lovely gardens. lovely little village. there’s a local playground by the church which the children enjoyed in between outings.
the telescopes were only for use in events, which wasn’t clear upon booking. star gazing was the focus of the trip so we were disappointed. however the staff did allow us to set our telescope up on a grass verge near the observatory.
bring ear plugs as it is a pub so there is evening noise. we slept through it.

The location was lovely with easy access to all parts of Devon. Hosts were really friendly. Cabin room was clean and comfortable with views across the farmlands.
Just little niggles - need USB adaptor as plugs do not have USB points. Stayed in Poppy room and there wasn't a plug by the mirror so difficult when drying hair.

Lovely lodges with big comfy bed and a great power shower. Food was great value and plentiful in the restraint and breakfast was first class and set us up for the day. All of the staff were brilliant and really looked after us during our stay.
Not a criticism but the only mirrors are in the bathroom and by the entrance door. Unfortunately no power sockets at either point meaning the wife had trouble doing her hair.
