We stayed 2 nights at Apukka Resort and only the glass igloo was enough! It is really something to experience. We got to sleep under the stars. There are also many activities to book. We booked the private sauna by the lake and it was exhilarating! We would definately come here again :)
We had unfortunately food poisoning on the last day of our trip after eating at one of the restaurants at the resort. But the staff were very accomadating- they offered us a refund and gave us late check out until our flight time. Even though it was a bitter end to our trip, we are thankful for the staff for accomadating us.

The experience of staying in an igloo room was very cool despite not seeing the northern lights. I also really liked that the property had tons of activities on site so you didn't have to leave if you didn't want to

Accomodation, location everything was perfect.
Buffet dinner was not great - a la carte was very good as was thd pizza restauraunt. For a group the bus to santa village or rovanimi works out more expensive than taxi.

The glass ceiling was awesome. The on-site ice dipping was an added bonus. Lots of open space for long walks. The frozen lake. The pizza shop was great for quick bites. There were also awesome excursions right on site so convenient for traveling.
We missed the northern lights and didn't realize until later that you can request an alarm to sound to wake you up when the lights are nearby. No one told us this. Also the staff was a bit absent minded. My drinks were messed up twice. Lastly the breakfast was so underwhelming! Lots of choices, but cold food. We stayed at another resort for a few days and it was way cheaper and the morning buffets were AMAZING. We had higher hopes for Apukka with the exclusivity. Unfortunately, they didn't meet the standard. :(

An amazing place with exceptional staff
4.3
Great location and lovely setup of the cabins in the resort
A lot of activities bookable to experience the outdoors/nordic area
Friendly and supportive staff
Comfortable cabins and beds
Great food & Breakfest at the hotel
Shuttle bus to the city (at extra cost)
Most activites need to be pre-booked and paid extra.
So when planning consider, that there will not be much to do unless you pay extra for it.
The prices for the activities are fair - but as to be expected in Finland quite steep.
Without booking activities there is not really much to do round the resort, so consider this in your planning.

Excellant.

The breakfast is great, you can find differents kinds of food. They take care to offer a great breakfast gluten free, vegan, amrican style, also with a lot of local food. I think the filtered coffee could be better but was ok.
The surroundings are beautiful, seems like is a great place to visit even in sprint or summer.
Employees are amazing. They give you a warm and exceptional treatment.
The amenities are also very tasty and a great detail :)
They also offered different options to get some special for my wife's birthday
In our experience all the services, even the room offered are overvalued. We stayed in a Kammi Suite and taking in consideration that we're not skinny persons the sofas were to small and uncomfortable. As well the bed upstairs was complicated to use and with poor accessibility. No light switch close to bed so you should to turn all the lights off before go to bed.
The bathroom smelled very bad, even before to be used by us. The shower plate also haven't to much space to move you with freedom. I haven't had intentions to dance in the shower but, of course, I wanted to take a shower without take care of that my elbows not punch the glasses around me.
On other hand we booked a reindeers journey. It was beautiful but complicated, again because both of us not fitted properly in the sled. Also the tour guide, who was very kind, offered a scripted explanation after the tour but when we made questions she was a little bit lost.
Also we think should be good to get a transportation from the meeting point to the place to make the activities (~400mts away)

Location is close to town and also close to the main road.
Room was good.
Breakfast was superb. The buffet spread provides many choices. Excellent!
It would be better if the extra bed was placed side by side with the main beds so that everyone can have a similar view.

The location , our Lappish Kammi suite and the activities were all fabulous. The activities on offer were varied and suited all ages Our favourite was the private sauna on the lake. The combination of sauna and Arctic plunge into the lake was amazing The two restaurants were good, especially the pizza

The Reindeer experience was very nice, but scary at some point as the last reindeer on the last sleigh got really nervous and started hitting the sleigh with it's antlers with 3 people in it.
They asked us to call the guide but she was at the front and didn't realize about what was going on and we couldn't shout for help because she said not to shout...
When she came, the Reindeer had turned the sleigh around already, but the 3 people had already jumped out so no one tot hurt there. It was near the end or the ride aswell. The guide Ann-Sophie was extremely nice and professional when dealing with our group and that issue with the Reindeer. Likely the best staff member at Apukka Resort (at least when considering everyone we met)
The dinner buffet was nice and the Cod was quite tasty, but doesn't make sense to tell guests to sit in a pre-determined area if the whole restaurant is empty. We would have sit in another area if allowed as it was nicer.
Having a shuttle bus to bring us to our stay in Santa Claus holiday village was nice.
Overpriced for sure.
The Aurora Cabin is no more than a bathroom and a bed inside an igloo-like room. The bed has no real matress. It's 2 small twin beds and not a double bed (even if this is clearly an experience for couples), and it has no proper pillows either (cheap ones)
There was not 1 water bottle inside.
There were no snacks either (we didn't expect complimentary snacks, but having snacks in a place where food is hard to impossible to find during the night would be nice). Perhaps the Kammi Suites were nicer but unavailable to book (perhaps because there's not many) and the aurora cabins at 600€+/night are overpriced for what it is, so if you find Kammi Suites available, i would go for that one instead, or even the Glass Resort next to Santa's village which was by far much nicer.
Staff was overall polite.

Can’t fault the location, beautiful nature setting. Kammi Suite also amazing, and very clean, only fault is that there are some reflections on the glass ceiling from the lights along the path outside. The winter activities including husky sled ride, and sauna experience were excellent, once in a lifetime experience. There was an issue with communication that led to us having only half the time in the sauna but the staff were kind and gave us a whole complimentary experience the following day. The pizza restaurant was tasty, good atmos and good value, we went twice!
The buffet breakfast was tasty but range limited and the seating area was more of a dining hall at a hostel than a 5 star resort, quite loud and sometimes difficult to get a table. The hotel felt overpriced for what we received and that they were trying to make money from us further- €10/day pp for snow suit hire and a fee for shuttle bus usage which should both be included in the price when paying >€500 per night in my opinion. The Aurora Hunt by Car activity was in a mini bus rather with ~24 people and not so much a hunt, just drove to one location. We went on an external Aurora hunt tour after we didn’t see anything after an Apukka tour, it was 6 people and felt much more personal and we went to 4 locations actually chasing the Aurora.

The place is great, you feel like you are in another world
During our stay one of the restaurant was closed due to an event so that was a bit inconvenient
4.3
Near to activities we wanted to do
The villa we rented was quite old that the shower hose fell off. We could not use the shower on the 1st floor during our overnight stay there. Otherwise, the rest were old but operational.

Loved it.
Could not fault anything xxx

The staff were very friendly and the apartment was nice. Cute and separated from other rooms.
Overpriced for what it is. The extortionate price tag is not really worth it. Breakfast food was mediocre and limited in choices. Transport links were terrible - no buses despite earlier research and had to pay a taxi to the airport which was again rather expensive.
4.3
the igloo has stinking smell and staff didn’t respond even thought I approached them several times

We had plenty of towels, blankets and hot water for our family of 5. Our rental was clean and comfy with 3 gorgeous panoramic large windows on the backside facing the frozen lake.
We booked a dog sledding excursion through the resort, and I would advise families to go 30 to 45 minutes before, in order to get suited up in all of the required gear. It took our family of 5 longer than expected because items weren't fitting properly and it was very busy. We wished we had more time to get comfortable before walking across the road and up to the dog sledding experience. It was a bit of a walk and we weren't expecting that "extra" part in such big, bulky attire. With 3 kids, it would have been helpful to get a ride. We felt our guides were upset because we were slower and trying to keep up with the group. They were gracious, but we definitely needed more than the 15 minutes we were originally advised. Overall, we still had a wonderful time.

all the activities , beautiful stay
nothing everything was perfect

The surrounding sceneries and environment, has everything in one place. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well!
The boiler has to reheat the water for shower in about 2 hours of time, and we could only use the warm water to shower for only 20 minutes.

service hasn’t been upto the mark, can be better

The impact whenh you first walked in is very impactful. Cost, dark and very inviting
The presence of a kitchenette was also very welcome but later posed questions/confusion
The breakfast was delicious, one of the best we've had however it only opens from 8am. So when you have an early tour like we did, you miss out though they did offer to make us a lunchbox to take
1. So after a day of being in the cold cold snow, we settled in and wanted to make a coffee. So there's a coffee machine, coffee filter papers.... but no coffee grounds. When we whatsapped the front desk, they said the options were to buy it from them or travel to town and buy it (17km away). After staying in multiple Airbnb's where coffee grounds were provided, I assumed that at about 1000 Euros per night, a small amount of coffee would be included. They offered an alternative if instant coffee (which is not really great) and there was only one sachet anyway
2. The big ticket attraction is the glass roof and in the time we were there, it was covered with snow and ice so you couldn't see through. We were told that you could press a button which would warm the windows for 20 mins. However we were there for many hours and kept pressing the button which made absolutely no difference. In fact, the snow was quite thick (see images) by the time we left. So unless you spent all day in your room pressing the button, I'm not sure how the window would have been cleared to see the northern lights.
3. There is also a stovetop which a great in theory however there's no oil provided to actually cook!! Again we received a similar answer as per the coffee grounds. Really if people are required to bring everything, they should at least be told in advance or arriving as the resort is located in a remote place
