Although the rooms are small, the location is perfect - in the centre and near to ferry to Zanzibar.

We really appreciate that we could left our rented car in the parking lot of the hotel guarded for a reasonable fee while we were 2 days on a trip to Zanzibar. The location is perfect - in the centre, many shops around, and the most important for us - it is in the walking distance to the ferry to Zanzibar.

Our rooms were on the 3rd floor - a lot of stairs without any elevator. The rooms are quite small.

The price..excellent location for shopping around, getting to ferry bus, eating good local inexpensive

A little scuzzy..wish they made more effort to clean including outdoors..maybe a nice sitting area outside

It's a very rundown and old hotel but I come back every time I stay in Dar. It's very cheap and the location is unbeatable for that price, very central and close to the ferry to Zanzibar. The staff is nice, breakfast is basic but good with fruits, juice and eggs (for an extra 2000), and there's lots of nice restaurants in the area. If you're on a small budget and don't have high expectations it's a good place.

No mosquito net on one of the two beds in our room.

Nightmare guaranteed

The location was nice being right in the middle of town.

Not dead but missing light bulb in room AC disabled by staff and had to request 3 times for them to switch it on despite having paid for an air conditioned room. Missing Toilet Seat Sewer water clogged and backing up in the shower. Hot water heater disabled. AC disabled in the morning again before check out. I suppose anything to save a penny Breakfast is a glass full of sugar, (juice?) 2 slices of toast and tiny bits of butter and Jam. Staff is super excited to not be working and annoyed upon requests such as what kind of juice is this. An extra bed sheet is your blanket and above all they'll gladly collect twice the payment from you compared to other hotels in the area with no service. Talk about being in the service industry.

Nice location, 15 minutes walking from the ferry to Zanzibar. Not a 5-star place, but fine to rest your head within walkable distance from the ferry. Friendly and helpful staff.

Bathroom walls were dirty and if you closed the door all the way you would not be able to get it opened. There was no handle.

All in all, it was what we needed and the price was right.

We arrived late because our plane was late. We were accomodated however our information was not on a computer and we were asked what price we were confirmed at. I did not have a printed copy of the price on my confirmation. I guess we got the lowest price room as we were told we were on the roof. Six floor up with no elevator and we were in one of two rooms on the roof. Two bunk beds like the picture showed. Place was clean. Bathroom was clean however shower did not work, only the lower fuacet for the feet had a water flow. Mosquito nets were clean and covered the bed. The view was nice at night and in the morning it gave us a good feel for being downtown and in a busy area. Safari Inn is out of the way in a dead end but the price was right since we just needed to lay our heads until the 9:30 a.m. ferry to Zanzibar. Breakfast was included which was great because we had not had any chance to stop at an ATM or change money. The breakfast room was quite nice and the first floor with lobby and pathways was also very nice and interesting tile work. The food was good, fruit was served with breakfast. The service was good and very friendly. All in all, I would stay there again but would pay more to not be on the roof. Location and price were perfect for our purposes. I have no doubt the rooms on the other five or six floors were nice. We opted for the bunk beds being three of us. Safari Inn was less than half the cost of any other places near the ferry.
