About this villa rental
The Villa is the perfect example of a Tuscan country villa, it is surrounded by mature gardens and has a large private swimming pool with a fantastic panorama of the surrounding countryside. Incredibly although the villa is immersed in all this peace and tranquillity, medieval San Gimignano, which is a joy to explore, is only 10 minutes walk away.
The original house dates back to 1600's and has recently been immaculately restored to its original splendour. Now divided into two parts, both have been delightfully furnished to a very high standard including many antique pieces and family heirlooms. Characteristic fireplaces form the centrepieces of spacious lounges, and well equipped kitchens invite you to prepare delicious meals. The private garden which surrounds the villa is immaculately maintained with lawns, mature trees, and flowering plants and enjoys a fine panorama. Perfect for dining alfresco or just enjoying a chilled glass of 'Vernaccia di San Gimignano' whilst enjoying the essence of the Tuscany.
The perfectly placed swimming pool (12m x 6m) overlooks the olive groves, and is framed by a paved terrace and lawns. It is a lovely spot for relaxing and enjoying a swim after a busy day's sightseeing. Guests are free to wander the 10 acre estate which is perfect for country walks and the town San Gimignano with its selection of shops and restaurants is easily reachable on foot. The panoramic area where there is the swimming pool extends almost until the alternative road of the town.
The ground floor of the villa, has a comfortably furnished lounge, and a large kitchen both of which open onto the garden and two characteristic bedrooms which open onto the side garden areas. There are also two shower rooms.
The first floor of the villa, is only a few steps from its garden as the house is built unusually on a slope. Its comfortable lounge is very cosy and there is a large kitchen with an unusual antique round marble table. There are two characteristic bedrooms, one with four poster bed, the other with two single beds which opens onto a small balcony, and two bathrooms. The two levels are connected via the garden making the villa perfect for larger parties whilst retaining privacy. There is a communal laundry room, barbecue, and WiFi internet connection is also available at a small local charge.
The friendly owners have a small detached cottage on the estate which they use. Parking is in the grounds below the house.
When you can tear yourself away from this idyllic country retreat, the medieval hilltop towns of Colle di Val d'Elsa and Volterra famous for its alabaster are within half an hour's drive, whilst both Siena and Florence are easily accessible via road, or nearby bus and rail links. San Gimignano can be reached on foot or by local shuttle bus that runs every hour and stops 300m from the property.

We had a wonderful week. The owners were very welcoming. We turned up a little early and they were more than happy for us to use the pool and enjoy the wonderful garden whilst the cleaning was finished off . I would say the photos didn’t do it justice. It is literally a 10 minute walk into san Gimignano, which is a beautiful little town .. excellent ice cream and pizzas. I would highly recommend a day in Volterra. Firenze also beautiful but way too many tourists and hard to park, whereas Volterra was much easier on this front . coop supermarket is 7 minutes walk , where we bought some lovely local produce to eat . House had everything that you need in terms of kitchen equipment. We had a great week and our hosts were always on hand if we needed them , but they kept well away in terms of privacy, which was really good. Highly recommend.. only downside was the mosquitoes!

Unreal property with great views and amenities. No need to leave aside from the incredible town of San Gimignano 10 mins walk up the hill. Amazingly well kept, bit the property and the historic town of San G, a winning combo for a relaxing stay with enough of interest near by for you not to have to make longer treks to other locations (although still worth it if that for you). Finally the hosts were very warm and welcoming and always there to help (as they live on site) but never in any way intrusive to your stay. Would highly recommend and go back myself!

Our family loved our stay at Villa Podere La Tesa. The villa was within walking distance to San Gimignano, but we chose to drive because it is up hill to get to the town. We never had a problem finding parking so that was a plus. Even though a map shows the villa next to a road we never heard the traffic noise. Matter of fact we didn't even realize there was a road close until we were out by the pool which is away from the villa and still the traffic noise was barely noticeable. The villa is wonderful and very comfortable. The owners live on the property and are the nicest people. We loved everything about this villa and hated to leave. I hope some day to return to this beautiful place!

This house is in the perfect place, in the beautiful Tuscan countryside but less than a mile’s walk to the centre of San Gimignano and even less to the supermarket. It is situated amongst olive groves and a well kept garden with enough shade, a beautiful swimming pool and plenty of seats and sun loungers. The house was immaculately clean with everything you could need for your stay. We were a family of 3 couples and a 4 year old and the set up of the house as two two-bed apartments was perfect to give everyone sufficient space and privacy. We arrived at 10pm and the owners were there to welcome us. We would happily return again.

We stayed here for a week in October, taking day trips to various surrounding places (Siena, Volterra, Cinque Terre, Florence, and San Gimignano of course). It was quite warm the week we were there and we were a little disappointed that the pool had been closed for the season. The bus system was not very reliable and taxi service was almost nonexistent. Some days we spent many hours trying to figure out transportation. Car rental may be the way to go even though we were told we didn’t need to do that. Our hosts were very gracious and kind and went out of their way to help us out. We would definitely recommend this place!

We loved being able to walk to San Gimignano after a day of exploring , to shop , have dinner and gelato and share our experiences. The villa was perfect and the owners , Victorio and Marina , were lovely and so welcoming! Perfect location to explre beautiful Tuscany!

We stayed with friends for a week at this place at the end of August and enjoyed it very much. The two apartments were in very good shape and well looked after by the owner. We had a lovely time at the pool, sitting on one of the terrasses with our friends and getting to know San Gimignano - without the rush of the day visitors. Very friendly and helpful owner couple. Thank you!

A typical Tuscan villa / farmhouse surrounded by gardens and olive groves on the edge of San Gimignano. A lovely split level villa, perfect for two families to holiday together. We were 9 people - 4 x adults and 5 x kids under 12 and it was just about the right size with all the amenities we needed. The grounds are lovely and the photos don’t do them justice. The pool is great and where the kids spent most of their time. It’s a 15 min walk uphill to San Gimignano which is the same as some of car parks around the town as it gets very busy with day trippers. We used the villa as a base for a day trip to Sienna which was easy. The owners are nice, friendly and helpful.

We chose a site in Tuscany only to begin to agonize about whether or not it was too "isolated." We began looking all over again, the second time choosing Podere La Tesa. We are so happy that we made that decision! This location and home were everything we could have hoped for - a clean, beautifully maintained and spacious home with lovely intimate and communal spaces, a landscaped setting that was private and afforded beautiful views of surrounding hillsides, a stunning pool that we frequently used between sightseeing trips, and for us, easy access to the city of San Gimignano. It was magical to wake up in the morning in such a setting, and lovely to return to after our day trips. We used both apartments, and found it easy to move between the two.
The hosts, who live on the grounds, were the BEST! They were there to help us if we needed anything (rarely) and they afforded us all the privacy we wished. It turned out to be a perfect match! The real test of any vacation place is when everyone in your party says, "I wish I could stay here forever." We loved everything about Podere La Tesa.

Away from the crowds but just steps away from the Medieval town of San Gimignano, with wonderful shops and restaurants. The views from the villa are breathtaking. The villa is made up of two separate apartments each with two bedrooms and bathrooms. We were able to spend relaxing days around the pool and walking up to breakfast or dinner as well as taking wonderful day trips to Siena, Volterra, Cinque Terra and Florence. You don’t want to miss this vacation spot. The owners are close by in their own villa and are happy to help make recommendations. Get away from it all and live like a local here.

My family of 7 had an amazing time!! The best part of the stay was the hosts of the house and the proximity to the city. We walked everywhere. All the recommendation given by the hosts were excellent. The home is comfortable and we felt right at home. Thank you for such a wonderful stay

The perfect location and accommodations!
We rented the Villa for a week and our family could not have been happier! We were a group of 9, including 6 adults, a 6 and 3 year old and a 20 month old infant. With both levels having a kitchen and living area, along with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, there was plenty of room for all of us. Both kitchens were well equipped. We had most of our meals at the Villa given the children’s schedules, and to just relax and enjoy the beautiful setting.
The views from the Villa are stunning! And there was always a beautiful cooling breeze sitting on the patio or under the tall oaks. Although we had temperatures in the high 90s during the day, the nights dipped to the 60s, and the Villa, with many ceiling fans, was always a comfortable temperature. We spent many afternoons enjoying the pool. Having our little ones, we were pleased to see the pool is fully fenced and is about 100 yards from the main house, so we felt very secure about the pool. There are also grassy areas where the children played, while the adults enjoyed a glass of wine in one of the several outdoor sitting areas.
The location was perfect! You feel as if you are out in the countryside, but you are within walking distance (or five minute car ride) of San Gimignano….a town rich in history with so much to see and do. After two days of walking through the town, we still didn’t see everything. The Villa was our home base; we went to Florence for a day trip, which was an hour car ride away. And we walked to a local winery (Palagetto) for an amazing wine tasting session.
And our hosts were the best! They live on the grounds and are experts at providing guests with privacy, while being accessible when needed. It was such a pleasure to talk with them about the Villa, the
area, as well as great recommendations for restaurants.
We simply loved everything about the Villa and our wonderful hosts!

Beautiful house - perfect location and view
We had an amazing time in this beautiful and typical Tuscan house. The house is split in 2 independent apartments, with a beautiful garden and pool. The view is stunning. Location is perfect, 7 min walk from San Gimignano and the supermarket. 45 min drive from Sienna and Firenze.

Paradise in the Tuscan hills
We had the most wonderful week in this beautiful country house. Victorio and Mariana are wonderful hosts who live in a cottage in the grounds, they are very discreet but also very kind and helpful! My tow little kids (2 and 5) were calling them Nanny and Grandad which was very sweet.
The house itself is much bigger than the pictures show with lovely antique furniture and pretty decorations. We cooked several lovely meals in the well equipped kitchens and really enjoyed the space of the house. The two apartments worked really well for our two little families.
The pool and garden are just beautiful and the added security of the pool fence was a nice surprise. We had many a lovely day in the sun by the pool, watching the beautiful sunsets over the mountains and spotting shooting stars at night.
We walked up into town on several nights which was great not having to drive, San G. is a beautiful. historic old town. The kids particularly loved the pizza, running around the old. squares and the world famous gelato!
I highly recommend this villa for a family holiday.

Rustic Tuscan Villa with amazing views
Perfect family holiday with amazing views of the Tuscan countryside. Very relaxing location and the on sight owners are very helpful and pleasant.
Walking distance into San Gimignano - but not for the faint hearted.
Very well equipped kitchens and many places to sit outside.
The accommodation layout was OK for us but it is 2 ,two bed roomed apartments with no connection inside. Great for families with adult children and two families holidaying together . Lots of space.

Great stay in Tuscany
We really loved this house. It has a great location, very nice views and surroundings and a great pool! The only thing that could be improved is the living room (more sofas and armchairs + bigger tv) but given we went there in summer (spent longer times outside of the house rather than inside), we did not miss that so much.

Traditional property, close to town with amazing views
The location of the property is excellent: being able to walk to San Gimignano to access it’s wonderful town with great restaurants was a real bonus. The property was very clean and well equipped. The best feature however was the good sized pool with heavenly views. Very relaxing!

Waling Distance to San Gimignano
We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay at Val d'Elsa. Giuseppe was kind and responsive to needs. He was able to provide recommendations and tips for restaurants and parking. My only suggestions is to provide adequate paper goods (toilet paper) for a week's stay.
Thank you Giuseppe and Marina for sharing your lovely home

Loved it...
We just returned from staying a week at this Villa. Very clean, beautiful setting, very comfortable and the couple that rent the villa were the sweetest people. The pictures don't do it justice. Five of us traveling together and this was the ending for us traveling through Italy. It put the icing on the cake. Walking distance to grocery store and the town of San Gimignano. We are all 50-70 and had no problem with the walk. I highly recommend this villa.

We enjoyed a relaxing 2 week holiday with family and friends. The villa is well equipped, the gardens are extensive and the pool has outstanding views of the countryside. Yet the villa is only a 10 minute walk to the town with great restaurants and shops. The owners are very friendly and helpful. 5 star holiday.

Ideal villa in San Gimignano
This was an ideal villa for 7 of us on our two week stay in San Gimignano. The villa is very well equipped and located in beautiful grounds with wonderful views. The house is divided into two self-contained units which can sleep four each. It was an easy walk uphill to San Gimignano. The owners live on the property and were very friendly and accessible, providing lots of local knowledge, maps and guides.

Wonderful Villa - Highly Recommended
An extremely well maintained villa (originally a Tuscan farm house - now separated into two: 2 bedroomed units each with own kitchen/dining and living areas) set in large private grounds, comprising olive groves and manicured lawns with a swimming pool and views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Extremely clean and fully equiped. San Gimignano was very conveniently located - a short walk away. The owners were truly delightful, genuine, friendly hosts and always available with local recommendations and advice. Would highly recommend this villa.

Absolutely wonderful
We had a delightful stay at Villa il Podere. The villa is very comfortable, each bedroom with its own bathroom and two fully equipped kitchens. The outdoor area is stunning with the olive and cypres trees, the view over the Tuscan countryside and the pool area. The house is located at easy walking distance of San Gimignano, shops, restaurants and supermarket.
The hosts of Il Podere are friendly, helpful and speak English very well.
