Never again

The view and very close to the centre

Apartment needs a big renovation. Everything is falling down, the air con doesn’t work properly. The bathroom smells of mould and sewer.

Excellent location - like staying in an AirBnb

Perfect location. 5 min walk from the bus station. The funicular to Mazzarò is literally the next door, easy to reach beaches like Isola Bella. Short walk uphill to the historical city center, not far from sights such as Teatro Antico and Villa Comunale. We stayed at the junior suite, meaning that we had our own kitchen and access to the common balcony area. Breathtaking view. Kitchen was equipped, with cutlery/plates/glasses, some saucepans, a small stove and a small fridge. There’s a safe in the room and the air conditioner works.

In a way the room itself is nothing special, felt more like renting an AirBnb than a room in a hotel. The decor is very basic and it feels like the place could use some renovating, for example the bathroom was impossible to air and it smelled of mold/sewage. We discovered some other quirks too - for example the only way to turn off the lights by the bedside is to unscrew the bulbs. However, could not be a better location for an apartment in this city and for the price I think it's reasonable.

We had a great stay here.

Very close to the centre, right near the cable car. The terrace have an awesome view to the sea. The host was helpful and polite.

Beautiful view but not recommended

The location is prime, very central and the cable car is literally next door which allows you to get to Mazzarò (shore) very quickly. The property is quite close to the town center, restaurants and main attractions. The view is very picturesque, specially for sunrise pictures.

The owner wasn’t proactive in providing any information about the area. He didn’t show any interest in interacting with us. We were given only one suggestion about a restaurant which belongs to a friend of his. He rushed into checking us in and requested copies of passports be sent via WhatsApp. We had to message him the next day asking for his email address as we don’t typically send sensitive information via apps. As for the checkout, we had to inquire about what to do. Communication with him was very brief and replies would take a few hours. As we settled in, we started noticing issues in the room. Firstly, It took us a while to close a curtain which is very old and seems stuck. We did have to close it for privacy reasons as we were on the same floor as the communal terrace. The shower tray seems to be clogged as it fills up quickly and it takes a few minutes minutes to drain. This was flagged in a previous review about two years ago. Secondly, there is a bad sewage smell in the bathroom and this was also mentioned in previous reviews. Not enough essentials were provided for the only three nights we stayed there. The wi-fi connection is terrible and I couldn’t use my laptop. I had to tether from my phone hotspot. If you need to work remotely, that’s not ideal.

Amazing view from the terasse to the sea

The view and the terasse was amazing and the location is super! Next to the center and the cable car to the city!

-1 for the parking situation downstairs anywhere in the garage. There are just two parking slots at the top, so we parked in the garage where it was hard to come in! but at least we got one!

Wonderful little suite with a fabulous terrace.

The location is perfect, right next door to the cable car down to Isola Bella and 5 minutes from wonderful bars and restaurants. The terrace is absolute heaven with an outstanding view. A cute suite with just enough equipment.

Good time in Villa Athena!

Terrace was incredible with sun chairs and tables, beautiful view of all Taormina beach. The Villa is next to the cableway and takes 3 min to reach the beach side on Isola bella and it is in few minutes to the historical city center. Recommended!

The Room downstairs is quite small, in particular the bathroom but it’s ok for few days, we cannot complain. All good!

Ideal location, but small

Bathroom was a little small. We weren't provided with bottled water, or spare toilet paper. We didn't see our host after check in despite us staying for two nights to check everything was ok. We were a little cold during the night and an extra blanket would have been nice.

The location and terrace view was great. The shower was warm, had multiple settings, and had ok water pressure if a little small. The room had a safe and a mini fridge. The electric lighting in the room was good, but there were no windows.

Stunning view, yet very central

The location is what makes this place amazing. It's located right next to the cable car station up the hill. The view over the bay is stunning and the place is comfortable and big enough to stay for a couple of days. Another plus is the parking spot on premises and the easy and fast communication with the host.

The quality of the building could have been a bit better (you could see the sunlight shine through in the corners of the bedroom) and the WiFi signal wasn't strong enough to reach our room.

I stayed in the room from - 1 which has such a small window that in the first moment i walked in i believed has no window. I stayed alone and was ok. This is not a room for 2 people with luggage. From picture i realised it is small. But my imagination could not produce such a very small bathroom. When i stayed on the toilet i was hitting either the bath shower wall or the door. In the shower i barely fit and i am a normal sized girl. I felt claustrofob. The room aldo is very nice seems to lack some attention to details like: fridge with no glasses and no shower gen in the bathroom

I came by buss. Left by train. Very close to the main bus station were siracusa buss left me and from the same station i took the buss to train station. Is 1 min from old center. Very good position. It is safe. And all looks like in the picture. I consider it value for the money.

Good view, good location, comfy room

We booked the room with provate terrace which is on the top level where the big shared balcony is. It’s amazing to wake up with this view. There was parking available at the property which was helpful.

Noise from cable car woke us up at 8am every morning. The room got cold at night and the central heating didn’t work. The shower needs maintenance and the sewage was clogged.

Great accommodation with fabulous terrace right in the city center

The accommodation is located right in the city center with everything in walking distance: Corso Umberto is just 2 mins away, 5 mins to the theatre, and the cable car down to Isola Bella is literally next door. On top of that the accommodation has a private parking which is worth a lot in Taormina! The terrace that belongs to the accommodation is huge and has a beautiful view on the beach and the ocean. On top of that the host is super friendly and very available to help his guests with some good recommendations. I would definitely come again and warmly recommend it to others.

Amazing place in the centre of Taormina

We really liked our stay. Our room was larger than expected, with nice design and a private part of the terrace. We loved the terrace! The perfect place to watch the stars in the night, right in the centre of Taormina. The location really couldn't have been better. We enjoyed staying on the top of the hill, away from the main roads. We had a car to get to the beach, which took us about 10-15 minutes (parking was provided!), but even if you don't, there is a cable car running the whole day until 1 a.m.; it's literally next door from the property. There are plenty of historical sites (Greek amphitheatre is 10 minutes away) and beautiful restaurants and shops (we recommend the BamBar, famous for its local granita). The host was very friendly, we could contact him anytime if we needed anything. If we get a chance, we will definitely come back.
