I was very pleased at how clean the home and hot tub were! Very relaxing stay and close to everything you could want with Acadia. Host was also very responsive to messages!

The property and house were exactly like we were looking for and the perfect location! Everything looked exactly as pictured and described. We did have deer in the yard a few times early in the morning and later at night (and even a skunk)! At the end of the day we wanted to be away from all the crowds. We spent 5 days here, spent lots of time in Acadia and even traveled up to Cutler and Lubec for a day trip (just a short 2 hour drive). Thom was very responsive and over all a great host. The hot tub had broken just before we arrived but he was on top of it. He was able to get someone out to the house to fix it prior to our stay ending.

The home was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of space for my 2 college aged children, my husband and I to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked and the homeowner even left us a cooler when I had asked if there was one to use for picnics. We saw several deer in the yard and enjoyed bird song throughout the day. The location was great for getting around to everything we wanted to see.

We loved our time at this home on the quiet side of Acadia National Park. The house is secluded and quiet - a nice getaway from the crowds on the other side of MDI. But it was also just a quick drive to everything downtown Southwest Harbor has to offer. The house was very clean and spacious. The outdoor grill and hot tub were awesome amenities!

The home was large and spacious and very well stocked. The location was secluded and private with deer meandering around the lovely landscaped yard. Thom, the host was very accomamodating and responded to all questions. I would definitely recommend this property.

We recently stayed at this house and had an overall good experience. The kitchen refrigerator that looked like it was straight out of Star Trek, which was quite impressive and added a modern touch to the space.
The main floor bathroom was updated, nice large shower which worked great. However, this bathroom has a child-sized toilet, which might be inconvenient for some guests.
There was a heatwave during our stay so a downside was the air conditioning. Only two of the bedrooms had window AC. The room with two beds did not have any AC, the window screen was torn, so we couldn't open the window for some fresh air. But oscillating fans were provided (no ceiling fans) in each bedroom. The living room does have a good celing fan.
The location is quite secluded, which is perfect if you're looking to get away from it all. However, be aware that there are no TVs in the bedrooms. The main floor has a very small TV with no cable, but it does have internet streaming access if you provide your own streaming account.
The hot tub was clean and working great, and the fire pit was fantastic for evening gatherings. Having on-site laundry was also a great convenience. The upstairs bathroom, while not updated, was completely satisfactory. Additionally, the lawn and landscaping were well maintained, which added to the overall pleasant ambiance.
The house is about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor, and Southwest Harbor is very close by with restaurants and a great ice cream shop called Salt Shop.

We stayed for 4 nights in early October. The property is great for a crowd. There were plenty of towels and kitchen essentials. Although there were just two couples in our group and we did not utilize the home much, it suited our needs. The guys did enjoy the hot tub one evening. We were in the area for the first time and wanted to see all we could see in a short time, so we left early mornings and returned late evenings. I would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. The nightlights in the rooms and the dual coffee pots (a Keurig and a full coffee pot) were much appreciated. They even had coffee pods available to start our first day, if we needed them. The beds were comfortable.
The only issue (and really by the next morning it was not an issue after we saw where we were) was that we arrived late on our first day, well after dark. The lane is hard to see at night and when we pulled onto the lane, the grass was grown up on each side. There were old trucks and an old garage on either side as we entered. We missed the 1 on the house number and drove past it thinking we had to go farther to our destinatiion but then wound up in someones driveway so we turned around and noticed that this was actually house number 13. It was just kind of an eery vibe entering but at daylight we saw where we were and everything was fine. I only write this to let anyone know if they enter after dark with the same experience, you'll be ok.
Thanks for a great stay!

Family vacation for 6 adults, 3 yr old, and infant. We really enjoyed the spaciousness of the inside and out of the home. Loved the wrap around porch, firepit, hot tub, and large dining area. Surrounded by trees, and felt very private.
We cooked in most evening meals, and the kitchen was well stocked with a Keurig, and drip coffee maker, pots, pans, knives, kitchen gadgets, etc. Even a lobster pot.
The owner was very prompt in answering emails with any questions we had.
For infant, we used the pack-n-play (in downstairs closet) but note to people bringing own linens for that. It is a larger model, so the current fitted sheets and mattress pad my daughter-in-law brought didn't fit. No worries, though, I just wrapped it in a towel, then wrapped the pad like a package.
We did NOT have any issues with water pressure while we were there. Bathrooms were well equipped, and there were plenty of towels.
Would definitely return.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my mom and sister for a fun girls' trip, and we all agreed the home was just what we needed. The location is great! You feel secluded even though there are a few other homes near you, you cannot see them. We saw so many deer from the porch! I swear everytime we walked out the door there were multiple deer, included fawn. The three bedrooms were spacious. The downstairs shower was fantastic! We didn't do any cooking on our trip, but the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. There is a great coffee shop within walking distance from the house as well! It was a bit too damp while we were there to get a fire going in the fire-pit, but just sitting out there enjoying the peace was good enough for us. The check-in/check-out process couldn't have been easier, and there was not a long list of things for us to take care of before checking out like I've had at other vacation rentals. This was the first time visiting MDI for everyone in my group, and we all agreed we'd have to come back again.

Nice roomy place. Met our needs. Family enjoyed it a lot. We had a fire one night and were treated with a doe and her fawn daily. It is a bit of a drive to Bar Harbor and park loop road but not bad. Found nice places to eat nearby. I'd recommend.

We had an incredible stay in this beautiful home! Clean, comfortable, and full of amenities, including family games and puzzles! Loved being on the quieter side of MDI but still close enough to all desired attractions. Lovely outdoor space. Would love to return in the future!!
4.0 / 5.0
Our main destination was Acadia National Park. The house was about 15-20 minutes from most of the parks sites and 20 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor. So overall the location for us was good. The property is very secluded and quiet which was nice. We had a deer walk through the yard within 30 minutes of being there! Plenty of space for our family of 4. There were a few minor things we noticed could use some attention. Here are the not so great things: the shower heads need to be replaced with an actual head with holes for water to come out. What is there now essentially is a "mist". This has nothing to do with the water pressure because that was fine. The queen bed in the "kids" room is horribly uncomfortable so be sure a child sleeps there (as opposed to an adult) or avoid it all together! The hard floors especially on the main level are in desperate need of a good scrubbing.
With those things said, the house was great for our needs. The hot tub was an extra bonus and was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked for making our own meals. Plenty of towels and blankets provided. Overall we would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Great location! Close to Acadia (20 minute drive). Property was quiet and private. Very close to Beech Ladder trail and Bass Harbor lighthouse. Local restaurants are shops closed a bit on the early side (7:00-8:00); maybe it was because we visited in early June. The house was very nice. Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of towels. Firepit was nice! There was some wood and kindling supplied. Nice touch. The only improvement we would have liked to see in the house was better shower heads. Overall great experience!

This was a great rental overall. We did have a lot of huge ants downstairs and some other bugs as well (no biting bugs). We were not a fan of the shower heads that only had a mist like quality. Other than that, we liked the homey feel and quiet atmosphere. All the beds we’re comfortable except the full size bed.

Stayed here for a weekend of climbing in Acadia and had a fantastic time. The house was great and well equipped and the hot tub was the best way to relax after a day on the rocks.

Beautiful property in a quiet area of Mount Desert Island. 30 minutes from the most popular parts of Acadia NP, but only 5-10 minutes from some equally amazing, but quieter areas. Well stocked kitchen. Laundry facilities. A great retreat for our family of 6 during our trip to Maine/Acadia National Park.

Everything you need without being directly in Bar Harbor. Easy access to eveything.

I have to say that when we turned on the narrow gravel road I was a little worried, but this is a gem of a house! Set back in the woods and a beautiful place, does it get any better than having a couple of deer walk into the yard and watch as you unload your luggage???
The house was very well appointed and had everything we could possibly need to ensure a great stay. We enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning watching the bunnies play in the yard. The beds were comfortable and the shower is amazing!!
Our son and his family were camping in the area and came over for dinner two nights. Nine people at the table and no one was crowded. There was plenty of room for all of us to sit in the living area for visiting, too. The children enjoyed the stash of books. We spent some time enjoying reading to them after dinner.
The fact that this house is right in Southwest Harbor was a plus too. We were a super short drive from everything there and an easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We would love to stay at this home again!

Exactly as described, nicely equipped. Beautiful, quiet, wooded setting. On the outskirts of Southwest Harbor (which is an awesome town), but not far from Northeast Harbor. So much to do in the area: hiking, kayaking, boat tours/ferries, boating, biking, lake swimming. Would stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was beautiful and clean. We enjoyed starting our mornings on the porch with coffee and ending the night in the hot tub. We would highly recommend this place!

I’m almost hesitant to leave this review because I don’t want anyone else to find out about this gem! First, I had excellent communication with the owner(s). Very responsive to my questions. What you see in the pictures accurately depicts what see when you arrive, which isn’t always the case when booking a property. The main reason I booked this property it had 3 full bedrooms to accommodate 3 couples and a toddler. You are getting full beds not bunkbeds. If you think you need to bring some sort of appliance, gadget or utensil don’t because they pretty much have thought of everything. I noticed they even had a pack n play in the closet for an infant. There are games and puzzles galore. There is a smart tv with all the apps you need with great Wi-Fi. The property was very clean. As far as location you are 20 min from downtown Bar Harbor and right next to Acadia National Park. Just one recommendation for anyone booking the property. We traveled quite a long way to Maine and didn’t want to bring food with us but purchase food when we arrived. I searched and there is an IGA market nearby and I expected to pay a higher price which I did the first night. But there is a Walmart 30 min away and more than likely you will be passing it on your way to the property. So, leave some time for yourself before arriving to stop or make the 30 min drive like I did the next day. Ok one more tip pick up a bundle of firewood from the many people selling it on the side of the road for the fire pit. We will definitely be returning at some time in the future. Thanks again to Thom we had a great time.

My kids felt comfortable right away and said it felt homey :) Lots of board games and books to keep them busy. Short drive to Jordan Pond and Cadillac mountain, shops, stores and restaurants. We would stay here again.

This property is on the quieter, less busy part of Mt. Desert, yet short distance to all activities.
We VRBO a lot, and finally...sharp knives. Thank you. We would definitely stay again.
