50 years ago, Résidence Odalys Tourotel, could have received a three star qualification. Due to the fact this building starts looking as a museum, a 1,5 star rating would be more in place. The only modification which has taken place over the last decade is most probably mounting a (mandatory) smoke signal. In a hotel there are 2 major items which must be good. That's are the beds and the bathroom. That the French are masters in tiny housing is known from the F1-hotels. And here I have to give compliments to the architects who where able to make optimum use of every square centimeter. The bathroom is small and so is the bath. Due to a lack of shower curtain you have to fold yourself in the bathtub with a length of max. 1 meter 50. The kitchen and table equipment is poor and messy. The Wi-Fi is poor as well. But the worst are the mattresses, see picture. After a whole day skiing in the fresh mountain air most people will sleep everywhere, but in this bed even that will be a challenge to achieve. For a price of €2.000,- a week this MUST be much better.
Was everything bad? Surely not! The location is great! It is located in the quiet area of Val Thorens, straight at the slopes and near the ski lifts. You ski easy out and back in. The lockerooms for the ski's and boots are good as well. The (warm) water for taking a shower is more than sufficient and the size of the blankets as well. To dry them is more a difficult due to the absence of a accessible radiator. Despite this in the room it was warm enough. The house hold staff was friendly and kept everything clean and working. The occupation of the reception desk employees is poor. They are more likely "meat processors", with lack of empathie.

I love Val Thorens very much the best resort ever. The connection from the ski-room to the slopes - the best ever.
I did not like clouds and ice instead of snow.

Perfect location right on the slopes and close to lifts. All facilities were great.
The apartment smelled a little of smoke when we entered it and it continued to smell of smoke via the ventilation system - someone in the building must have been smoking.

The biggest problem is the staff. First off all I couldn't contact them through booking, someone was on everything answering that I should call the reception. And on the reception is answering machine on French. And finally on reception on my checking out was a girl that didn't wanted to interduce herself and extremely rude and arrogant thar I haven't met ever. The boss of the reception was polite.
Because off the staff

Amazing location for skiing ...ski in ski out and close to the supermarket using an elevator. Nice sized flar and really warm.
The flat was not very well equipped. No holder on the wall for the shower head, but a bit of electrical taoe sorted that out.

Excellent ski-in ski-out location.
The staff at the reception was friendly and very efficient both for check in and out.
Linen and towels are provided in the room.
The rooms and equipment are old and would need a refresh.

the location and reception was nice
you had to pay for towels and toilet roll

Check in and Check out was smooth and easy.
The furniture. No beds and the sofas was single person sofas. Planning of the apartment could have been better with choise of the furniture. An IKEA Bed & Couch solution would have done nicely. Foldable chairs instead of wooden small pallets would also upgrade the room.

Everything.....where do I start. This apt cost €109 per night and we booked it for a week for just myself and a friend. On arrival you are given an itinerary to go over everything in the apartment from a tea spoon to a t.v. Anything not there when you leave you will be charged for at a rip off rate. After a long day of travel the last thing you want to do is a massive itinerary.
I know chalets in the Alps are small but this apartment was slightly bigger than the inside of a VW T-5 camper and by far the smallest apartment I’ve ever been in. I would guess at 16 sq metres and that includes tiny toilet, tiny kitchen (approx 1.2 sq metre) The shower has no curtain or fixing high up to hold it so showering is out and the bath is two feet long so relaxing in a bath is out also. So you had to squat in the bath and shower then spend the next 20 mins moping the whole floor up. The apartment had ONE radiator that was at best Lukewarm and heating went off at night so one morning we had no choice but to go out in damp ski gear.
You get a €30 fine if your key card doesn’t work(or you lose it)and a €30 fine if your caught wearing ski boots inside. The fine for leaving the apartment dirty is €35 and they don’t even give you a cleaning pack at the start to clean any dishes or to wipe down work tops. If you want a toaster or kettle you even have to rent it.
It really was an insult when we were paying so much.

Location
Terrible wifi, no reception at all.

Great location! When you ski out, you can afford to choose any of the ski lifts in Val Thorens.
Although the room was really small, there was just enough storage space which we used at the maximum. Staff at the reception are very friendly and helpful.
The room is really tight. No double bed. The 2 beds in the room are not even parallel. There is no ventilation in the bathroom (which includes the toilet) or kitchen. Overall, the rooms and the interior of the hotel are outdated. Réception staff is present during the whole day only on couple of days a week.
