Good apart from late room

Meals good, Staff excellent

Check in at 3pm but rooms not ready. A lot of guests had to sit around waiting. Told I would be phoned when room ready but by 4pm heard nothing. Had long drive to Edinburgh and going to show at 5pm. Went to reception and complained and (oddly) room ready. Not as all impressed.

perfect location, lovely modern clean hotel, ideal for our mini city break

helpful positive staff, a clean uncluttered modern room with necessary facilities, comfortable bed ( except for pillows - see below); lovely cool bar area - well attended by staff

could have been better; (1) poor cooked breakfast / luke warm food - bakery selection poor/ lacked freshness (2) pillows on bed far too small (3) shower water pressure very low - needed more power (4) given the ongoing heatwave when we stayed - some complementary bottles of water in the room fridge would have been very welcome

We enjoyed Edinburgh and the hotel was comfortable and convenient for city centre and station.

Location, breakfast was good, room was comfortable and clean.

Reception area was being renovated and “piped music” was too loud to hear receptionist. Television in room didn’t work, someone came to fix. However, the tv kept turning off every few minutes, or lost signal. Although we didn’t use much it was frustrating when we did use.

Fantastic location with tram stop outside hotel. Airy bright room with comfortable bed.

There was renovation work going on so not sure if the breakfast area was,as it should be. Felt like sitting in a bar come reception, as opposed to a dining room. Once renovation work completed, this should give a more pleasant experience. We were able to check into our rooms early which was a huge bonus.

The waiter started to clear away plates while some of us were still eating and drinking coffee. He had no interaction with us. There was a mix up over the booking and when we got back in the evening access to our rooms had been blocked. This was dealt with in a positive way and we were happy with the outcome.

Overshadowed by noisy and dusty construction work at the hotel

Helpful staff, good location

Arrived to pneumatic drilling and clouds of dust in the lobby area and corridors which we had to walk through, very off-putting for a romantic stay. Should have been told on booking.

Good (if busy) breakfast with friendly and helpful staff. Look location and great Q car park.

More fresh fruit for breakfast and gluten free pastries would be great. Comfy chairs and dressing gowns in the bedroom would be nice.

Lovely view of the bins!

The room itself was comfortable, with a great bed and lovely facilities. The location was also excellent for exploring more of Edinburgh. Staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

Firstly, we were unaware of building work to the front entrance of the property. Secondly, we had to wait ten minutes for check in as there was only one worker on the desk - his name tag did state Derek, but as the worker we saw checking out had the same name tag I’m not sure that was actually his name. While our room was nice, our window directly overlooked a car park where the bins of the property were kept. We were also awoken during the night and in the morning by other guests and staff in the hall as the doors and walls are clearly thin. The sink in our bathroom also had a ring of mould around the plug hole which should’ve easily been removed by cleaning staff.

Pity it was under renovation as breakfast a bit spread put all over and not as good as I remember from few yes back however, reception staff lovely, it was clean. Warm and good location

Very handy for visiting the theatre

The location is excellent for a theatre trip, which I was there for.

The mattress topper on the bed was overly large for the double bed I had and was folded at one side, but as I was on my own I was able to manage.

Wonderful experience

Breakfast was very good and the service was good. Hotel was a good central point to all the sites we visited. The dinner experience was wonderful with high quality food and an exceptional service team. Reception team were really helpful.

A solid 8/10 experience. Can be higher if you’re not picky with breakfast.

The location of the hotel is perfect. It’s walking distance to the Christmas market and next to the mall, theater and cinema. The tram/bus are right outside and they go frequently. It’s only a 30 minute ride to the airport and the tickets cost 16£ for two people back and forth if you buy them at the airport. The bed and pillows were DREAMY. I always struggle with the hotel pillows because they are so big, but it’s the best sleep I’ve gotten (even better than home). 10/10 for bed comfort. The staff is very friendly and very helpful, always greeted with a smile :)

The breakfast selection could be better. Limited variety and even the order-to-eat selection lacked an omelette. It would be nice to have more cupcakes/muffins, maybe more types of cold cuts and cheeses.

Excellent stay and would return

Excellent location for a city break, easy access to all the points of interest. Hotel breakfast was plentiful and delicious catering for all tastes.

Bathroom could have been a little cleaner and there were a few stains on the carpet.

Reception staff very helpful.

-breakfast staff didn't give us the extras in the first day so we didn't know we could have poached eggs for example. - they said they have on site parking. Walking 0.4 miles with crutches/wheelchair is not parking on site, is it? Staff was preety decent by it and said no we don't have parking on site. Disappointed really because when you book you should have an option to see on site parking or off site parking, they included the parking facilities when they don’t have it. Mind you I have a cast and surgery for broken bones. I did request when booked to have a ground floor room for the same reason. They could have said there is no parking right? - carpets in rooms not very clean, coffee stains all over the place, in the accessible room, bathroom chair very dirty, with brown stains, wish I could have used it... - entrance doors soaking wet carpets. For me this was a massive hazard because the minute you come inside the hotel the crutches are still wet and to slip with the crutches on hard floor is never a good idea. I wish people would be more human and truthful you know. There is no reason to lie about the parking, people with any kinds of disabilities should be treated with respect too. We deserve the same kind treatment as healthy people we shouldn't be excluded because we have a few more accessories than normal people. Wake up. We paid a lot of money to get this treatment.

Great location. 12pm checkout was good. Felt less pressured to be up and out.

Husbands birthday treat

How clean it was and staff were friendly when arriving. Breakfast was plenty to choose from

The room we were in 378 was situated near the gym so you heard the door at all times banging, plus the room we felt like a dungeon with the small window looking at a wall, so if we were to stay again we would be asking to stay 4 floors or above.

Good hotel with central location however slow response to reported issues

The hotel is in a great location. It feels modern and well kept for the most part. The reception staff are friendly and the check in process is really easy and they helpfully store luggage ahead and after check-in. Plenty of communications prior to check in which was great. The TV didn’t work on arrival into the room and maintenance were very quick to respond to fix the issues following a call to reception.

Issues with the bathroom in particularly the shower which was really needed after a cold rainy day. Shower didn’t drain properly and then gunk came up from drain. The sink had difficulty draining too. Reported the bathroom issues via reception and were informed that maintenance would be straight up to the room but they never appeared after 3 hours. Then emailed the front desk to see if maintenance would visit or if an alternative shower could be used and had no response. Informed reception the next day on check out that the issue was still there and we hadn’t had a visit from maintenance. They said they’d send someone straight up to the room however we left for our train. Also not enough teabags and coffee in the room for two people (just a small thing and reception provided extra on request). Went down for breakfast before checkout and price increased from £12.50 to £17.50 due to not booking during check in. There’s plenty of options for breakfast nearby as an alternative.

Not getting the room booked was a disappointment, but enjoyed the stay nevertheless

I booked a twin room months ahead of our stay. Upon arrival we were told there were no twin rooms available! I believe if the hotel accepts a booking then they should honour what was booked, or give a refund.

It was easy to explore both old Town and new town. Hotel interior is stylish while exterior remains the original appearance.

We didn't need to spend a lot of time in the room so it was a good place to stay for us.

The location was good, the staff were helpful and friendly.. The bed was very comfortable.

There was very little room in the bedroom. The people we were travelling with came from Canada and had two large suitcases, there was no space for them except by the door so they struggled to get in and out of their room. My partner was disturbed by the light from the glass panels in the bathroom.

Fantastic location, a big room, and it was very quiet and clean. The Lantern restaurant was good Nice food and cocktails.

The room was very warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to cool the room down. I did ask reception for a fan but we never received it. The bathroom doors aren't private enough! I would prefer a normal door not one you can see through.
