This Villa was simply amazing! From the spaciousness to the cleanliness our stay here was top notch. The decor was beautiful and the staff was right there to greet me when we showed up. I definitely will be staying here again the next time I visit San Ignacio. Thank you Vacasa!
Absolutely nothing!

Nice, clean, and roomy.
Difficult to get in touch with local manager. The Vasaca rental company seems did not let the local manager know that we were coming. No body was there when we arrived. The locker at the gate is very difficult to open. The instructions said press after the code aligned, but actually should pull. Contacted the local number they provided but nobody answered. Waited long time for a housekeeper coming to open the gate for us. After entering the house, the refrigerator was not working and no water in the house. Contacted the main office and took long time to get the assistant manager husband to come. He was a nice guy and moved refrigerator from downstairs to our kitchen and opened the main water valve for us. It seems that the main company did not communicate with the local people causing all those stressful situations at the beginning.

No breakfast but essentials of tea and coffee. Liked the quirky decor and the amount of space.
We had the first floor so if someone had accessibility issues then the stairs would be an issue.

It is a spacious apartment in a lovely old country house. the kitchen had a stove, microwave and small refrigerator. There is access to a washer-dryer.
it’s not really feasible to satay here without a car. it is on a long hill about a half mile away from the closest place to even buy a bottle of water or flag down a taxi. The concierge was unable to provide contact info for local taxis, only shuttle services that don’t do local trips. They also are not well informed about travel logistics, including the cost of transportation to Belize City.
There is no privacy in the ground floor unit because the shared laundry area is separated from the unit by a sheer curtain. The concierge stopped responding to me when I asked about this.
The infrastructure in this somewhat remote location is not well developed. During the week I was there the electricity went out once and the water went out twice. It seems like it would be quiet here but the neighbors have several barking dogs and there are roosters. The dogs never bothered me but some are unleashed and one driver was concerned about dropping me off.
The best thing that happened to me here is that I met the housekeeper, Elida, because there was a
leak that had to be repaired when I arrived. she was consistently helpful throughout my stay.

Great for a get away. Perfect location .
Pad lock on the front gate couldn’t be closed properly

The housekeeper, Esmerelda, is a lovely and helpful person. She is an employee and it not responsible for the dishonest marketing tactics of the Vacasa company that provided an absolutely false and misleading description of the unit they rented.
If it were not for Esmerelda, I would have given the unit all "1" ratings. She was wonderful.
The photos in the listing and in the confirmation I received from Villa Maya were NOT taken in the unit we rented. Also, the description of the unit provided on Booking.com had nothing to do with the unit we rented.
The pictures show an open, airy unit. The reality is a dark unit with a low ceiling.
The pictures show a beautiful kitchen with a stainless steel fridge and stove. The reality is a tiny kitchenette with an old electric cooktop and a mini-fridge.
The description says guests can enjoy the view from the deck on the provided deck furniture. There is no deck furniture. There is no outdoor furniture at all. Just a bare concrete pad with limited light. The "amenities" list includes things like wine glasses, outdoor furniture, and air conditioning in every room. There are no wine glasses. There is no outdoor furniture. There is one A/C unit in the bedroom but it does nothing to help the living room, which remains even hotter than outdoors.
What the owners/listers have done is post to list two units but to post photos and a description of only the nicer unit. We therefore believed we were renting the nice unit pictured and described when we clicked on the information (i) button for the unit we rented. In reality, however, we rented a small, dark, downstairs unit that was not pictured or described.
We expressed our extreme displeasure immediately after our arrival. The listers offered to allow us to cancel, but we considered that an essentially fake offer. What were we supposed to do in a foreign country on a Sunday night in high season with no hotel reservations? We were stuck. They said that would at least give us a 20% discount, but we have seen no evidence that they actually did that.
I believe that Booking.com should force Villa Maya to remove the listing from their site until such time as they can represent it accurately.

The property was clean, comfortable and spacious.
The gates, if it was electronic it would be much better. The master bathroom, the shower was electric, the air condition in the living room was noisy and dark windows and doors for more privacy. Inside door leading to the downstairs should have a gate or door, dangerous if children were present.
3.4
Neighborhood & proximity to town both good.
Wifi & cable were good.
Good for 2-4 day drop in.
Streets unmarked, & very rutted.
Very few pots, bowls for cooking & serving.
Bedroom Ac great; none in living room.
Mini frig too small for over 4 day living.
Bed had no "sleeping pillows," only 2 with deco/shammy covers on them.
