Overall, it was a great place to stay and experience Belize. Communication with the lodge in advance of the trip was spectacular and they were very accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and the property well-maintained and beautiful.
The fact that the doors to the rooms only lock from the inside was very disconcerting as any guest could enter any room on the property when vacant. The food at the restaurant was very expensive and not of great quality.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is exceptional. The setting, in the rain forest, is gorgeous, with Howler monkeys! The facilities and the grounds are very well maintained. There is so much to do and enjoy, or just chill out at the pool.
While no resort is perfect, Chaa Creek comes very close...

Warm, attentive and caring staff. Delicious food, Gorgeous grounds and loved the butterfly house!
bugs and dampness due to no A/C in room

Everything was amazing. The staff was always 10 steps ahead of our needs/wants. They never pushed to upsell anything. Exactly what you want appeared before you could even ask. We will definitely go back.
Steps, not to our cottage but our family stayed in the spa villa. So many steps. If we could rent a golf cart to the upper areas that would help.

Loved everything about the place. Location on a rainforest preserve is fabulous, lots of trails to hike and things to see. Staff is as well trained as any Ritz Carleton. Food was incredible, with much of it grown locally on the nearby farm. We enjoyed the spa, the pool and the peace and quiet.
The rooms have no glass in windows, only screens. Our room was VERY humid, to the point where clothing was damp and the tile floor was wet and slippery. Eventually staff put a dehumidifier in room, which helped a lot.

truly, it’s so beautiful but the staff made it even better. Love the lush grounds, too.
nothing to not like.

Maybe complementary group shuttle to San Ignacio.

Lovely property. Promotes Eco conscious tourism.. overall had a lovely stay... full points for good food and wonderful grounds .. we loved the butterfly farm , the trails, the many birds and even the remote location in the jungles !
The Wi-Fi could have been better as well as the lighting in rooms. air conditioning too would have helped on the really hot days.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek was spectacular and a perfect place to stay in the rainforest of Belize. The staff were SO helpful from the moment I booked the trip (via lots of email communication to plan outings, etc) and through our entire stay. The setting there is beautiful and the food at the restaurant was fantastic. We would highly recommend staying here on all fronts!

In the end, Chaa Creek is a well designed, planned, and maintained destination Eco-Resort that runs with near flawless efficiency. The structures and supporting facilities are lovely and comfortable, but our kudos and biggest thanks go to the staff! From the shuttle drivers to reception, the concierges who helped plan our activities, and the bar, restaurant, and housekeeping staff were all all gracious and wonderful. However, the specialty guides and their level of knowledge were perhaps the most impressive. From birding to insects, and Mayan ruins to cooking Mayan food, these folks are truly amazing. Thank you Mr. Ricki, Emeril, Francisco, Stephen (offsite contractor), Lubie, and Elvis for sharing your knowledge and making our time in your country so special!

the grounds are amazing, the room is amazing, totally luxurious.
This is a luxury experience so of course it’s expensive but a few things, like the $30 US shuttle, were more expensive than they needed to be.

Everything was great. I can't think of any improvements. This is a very high-end resort and yet it is also comfortable, keeping the jungle and nature close. The staff made us feel very welcome.
Can't think of anything.

From the moment you drive into the property you feel like you’re in a jungle oasis. Our hut was upon the hill overlooking the pool, the view took my breath away each time I stepped onto our private balcony, or laid in bed just looking out and taking it all in. The staff, the food, the service were all excellent. I have nothing negative to say. Absolutely 100% recommend staying here!!!

Beautiful property in the middle of the Belizean jungle- impeccable service, delicious food, beautiful lodging, great outdoor activities either onsite or close by. If you are going to Belize, you should schedule a few days in the Cayo district to enjoy the nature, adventure, and history. And this is absolutely the place to stay if you can get in.
This is in a remote area and while the property provides almost everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel, there isn’t air conditioning and it’s hard to keep things dry with brief, periodic rains. They provide quick and inexpensive laundry services, but you should bring plastic bags to store wet shoes (at least during the rainy season).

Chaa Creek was recommended by a friend, and had a big reputation to live up to - which it did, and more. The property, rooms, staff, and tours were all fabulous for our family.
Chaa Creek Lodge and grounds were beyond beautiful, and their tag line “wildly civilized luxury” totally fit. It was a joy to let it all soak in. We loved the infinity pool, which was big enough for my teenagers to have fun goofing around, while adults enjoyed a social drink, or moment of peace. What a great way to end a day of tours! The restaurant ambiance was perfect either inside or out, and we loved the fresh, delicious, well-presented food and drink.
We were beyond thrilled with our Macal River View Suites, which was perfect for our family of four. The spacious and luxurious suite of two rooms, two patios, and bathroom; comfortable beds, tall thatched roof; mahogany wood; and, artful decor made me happy and never want to leave. I had been worried about the summer heat, but the fans kept us cool and we slept soundly.
But the best part of the lodge was the friendly and helpful staff, who made staying there a true joy. At each point of contact the people were great, from answering my many questions before arrival via chat, to our great overview with welcome drink at check-in, my multiple conversations organizing tours with the knowledgeable, efficient, and patient concierge, the bartenders, wait staff, cleaning staff, and everyone were just great.
And finally, our tours were fantastic! Xunantunich was especially lovely with our wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. He did a great job of reading his audience, answering our questions, and weaving interesting Mayan stories with nature, world history, and present day - again, exceeding expectations! We also loved the in-site jungle amenities and paths, as well as our casual river tube float down the river.
We’re so happy we chose Chaa Creek, and only wish we could have stayed longer!

What an incredible place. Beautiful grounds, great facilities, really good food and wonderful staff. So many activities also, many of which were free.
We will be coming back in the future for another stay!
The only downside is that many of the traditional lodges are without air conditioning since they are basically open air. They are sealed with netting that prevents any bugs from getting in and you really feel like you are sleeping outside in the jungle with all the wonderful noises. There are ceiling fans and other fans if you need them, and after a day or so you get used to the heat.

Some of the things we loved about Chaa Creek were the food, the drinks, the guides and the ease and organization of excursions. Our family of 4 (kids age 9 and 11) did the ATM tour, Caves Branch tubing, Tikal, Xunantunich, and Barton Creek cave canoeing. The property is beautiful. It’s like what you picture when someone says “luxury jungle hideaway”
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the Lodge at Chaa Creek. It was an expensive splurge for us. But we feel that we got such a high level of service, quality, attention, comfort, and fun in return that it was worth the price tag.
