This is an old fashioned ( >100 years old) mountain hotel and they have done a great job of preserving the style while upgrading the rooms to current hotel standards where required. If you are looking for a glitzy chrome and concrete hotel with fancy city features, this isn’t for you. If you want a wonderful, clean and up-to-date mountain hotel within 20m of the falls and lots of hiking, Fossli is your place.
The fog! But nothing they can do about that … live with it and use it to compose great pictures!!!

Amazing old hotel newly renovated:
Like the set of a Wes Andersen film.
Super clean and pet friendly. The location requires no introduction.
Dictated but not read.
None what so ever

Location obviously. Old-fashioned hotel in a nice way. Friendly staff.
The restaurant attached to the hotel isn't the best. Wierd vegetarian options (springrol with mashed potatoes)

The old fasion stile and equipment created a spesial nostalgic atmosphere!

Historical hotel at scenic location but with simple facilities (e.g no tv in room).
Thin walls which makes it not so convenient when traveling with loud small children, if you don’t want to disturb other guests.

Extra friendly staff, wonderful location, nice historic feel. Cafe was nice, their carrot cake is delicious.
The food at the restaurant was good, but for the price the atmosphere was lacking...the basic board table, water left in a chipped plastic pitcher and ugly conference room style chairs at 30-35 euro entree prices was off...plus it didn't fit the vibe of the hotel. Table cloths, or nicer tables, decent chairs and glass water carafes would make a HUGE improvement (the food was good though, as was the service)

just a few steps away from one of the most gorgeous waterfall in Norway period. I was there during late summer, and would definitely visit back different time of the year to see the contrast from surrounding area. The hotel should be a museums with antique items everywhere from silver wear to dining halls.
Nothing but outstanding.

The dinner was superb
The views are spectacular
