Unfortunately the experience was bad all around other than the staff who I want to recognize were courteous.
It was a very bad experience.
- Parking far from reception not well lit at night
- Rooms terrible, cheap furniture and no shampoo or conditioner, no fridge, uncomfortable beds, cheap linens
- Awful decor. Truly scary feeling to the hallway carpets and wall coverings.
- Third floor sitting area under construction without appropriate safety signs or cleanliness
- Fourth floor basically unlit and not appropriate for sitting though we were told we could
- Food ok but nothing special relative to other hotels for half the price

Beautiful and historic building. Delicious food (breakfast and dinner), helpful staff, and the location is right next to the Flam Railway. We’re so glad we spent the night here during our Norway in a Nutshell trip. My sister and I had a wonderful time. There’s a beautiful atrium with view of mountains and fjords.
Nothing.

Nice room with big windows and balcony with view to the fiord. Good breakfast. Great location.
Small bathroom with a very small lavatory.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff was wonderful. Beautiful location at the base of the Naeroyfjord. Absolutely nostalgic.
Bathroom was too small.

location, cleanliness, breakfast, staff, cleaning crew & EVERY SINGLE THING! I wish I was there for longer! could even do laundry at no cost!

When we arrived we were told due to the hotel being fully booked (not asked if we would like to) we had been "upgraded" to a double room when I had booked a twin for myself and my daughter who disliked the decor and thought it was dark and old fashioned, although the victorian style bath was comfortable there was a leak underneath causing water to be on the floor. The tea/coffee making in the room was minimal, no TV, no safe deposit. Dinner was an extortionate price so we went next door which was also very expensive.

So peaceful and great location

Nice staff! Very helpful. Nice bar and great location. Good size rooms, comfortable and clean.
Old bathroom with bathtub, not easy to use. Not very good water pressure.
For the price I was expecting an updated bathroom.

It is an old school hotel with the charm, but modernized where it counts. The staff were lovely, professional and helpful. The location is perfect and my room was wonderful with a view if the fjord.
There are some groups that stay there, it that is a big part of their business and they manage it well.

Perfect Location to stay in Flam. Easily accessible to the Flansbana and Fjord of the future Cruise. The hotel is clean, and staff friendly. Beautiful views from my back yard seating.
The only thing I did not like was the bathroom. Needs major updating. And the water pressure was very low.

location
not great value for money

The hotel has beautiful communal areas, lobby and the restaurant, however, the rooms are a bit austere. It’s perfect for a one night stay but probably not so much for longer stays. There’s no option to have drinks or lunch at the hotel during the day and there’s really nowhere else in Flåm to do this either. The nature, however, is breathtaking and the hotel interior is charming. I do recommend this hotel for a short stay.
No options for food or drinks in the bar during the day.

Location is spectacular. It’s worth spending one night in a middle of the fjord. Breakfast and dinner very good as well as friendly staff
Stayed at the historical room and my bath folded the flor but they did what they could to help.

Beautiful property, very close to the train station. The food and staff in the restaurant were exceptional.
The cushions were not dusted for so long that they gave us both hay fever.

The location is great and convenient, the room view is so nice to see the mountains.

Breakfast was very good. The chef incharge was very good and accormodating
No double bed for spouse. we had 2 single beds

Being vegetarian, choices are limited. Corn flakes, cut fruits, cut vegetables, bread, butter and croissants ends up the stuff. But in a remote place like Flam, it is more than enough. No complains. Room size is big enough. The hotel is just stone throw away from Flam railway station. It is such a beautiful place, one should not miss to visit in a life time., perhaps a fairy tale like location. Everything is nearby. Aegir microbrewery for beer tasking is a must followed by a sumptuous dinner. Benjamin and his team are awesome hosts. Food was delicious. I could never imagine the Fjords safari could be so interesting and adventurous. We enjoyed every bit. All and all, it was a memorable trip.
Nothing.

Brilliant location, friendly staff, good breakfast
Room in historic section was small with a small bed, no TV and poor blinds/ curtains. For £216 a night not good enough

Staff here were exceptional. Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful - they made the stay. Great location. Nice bar for pre dinner drinks.
A better variety of teabags and some creamer in the room would take it up a level.
