Very welcoming and helpful staff. Comfortable room and excellent quality breakfast with choice of coffees. A perfect location for exploring Sherborne.
There are certain days when a market takes place outside. The early setting up sounds may wake light sleepers in rooms fronting the street.
More than one vegetarian option in the restaurant would be appreciated.

Breakfast was excellent, good local produce and good choice. The room was big and spacious with a wonderful view out onto Sherbourne.

Great. Mo's team gave us a friendly welcome. The room was cozy and well-equipped. The comfy bed, soft towels. Right in town centre, parking nearby was convenient. The chocolates and cookies were a nice touch. Highly recommended!
The bells and market traders setting up in morning

Very noisy location

The location was spot on as it was in the centre of the town just by the Abbey. The room was super with a dressing room alongside the bedroom. We also received complimentary fruit, cold drinks and chocolates in addition to coffee and tea making facilities.
The breakfast was superb as was our meal when we dined there in the evening.

I didn't have breakfast, the location was great
Car parking closer by, or directions to the nearest car park at time of booking

Super friendly helpful staff, we had a nice pub style dinner on night one and a good breakfast the following morning.
The bar and outside area was clean and tidy and the staff were quick to serve us with our orders. They also made sure we had everything we needed and were always on hand to check everything was ok. Can’t fault the serving staff.
The welcome was good and the guy who welcomes us ( I think the owner) was very pleasant and helpful
So, this wasn’t necessarily the hotels fault but we had two rooms at the front of the hotel overlooking the square at the front of the hotel where the seating area was. This meant that if you wanted some quite time in your room it was impossible because the noise coming from the seating area was extremely loud, particularly on the first night of our two night stay which was a Friday. Two groups of very drunk foul mouthed middle aged people who should have known better drank and swore at a volume I could hardly have imagined was possible and they sat there for around 3 hours which made the room basically unusable. No double glazing meant the noise was sadly all too easy to hear.
If I went back I would not want those rooms again. I understand the hotel is in the town centre so it’s reasonable to expect some noise but this was way over the top and instead of asking the drinkers to perhaps moderate their language ( which was really really foul) they just kept serving them more booze! Given a choice, which I wasn’t, those two rooms would not be the ones I’d pick. The thing is , that the owners must know these rooms get lots of noise from the drinking space right below them so should really think through the damage to the hotels reputation by booking unsuspecting guests into them.
Again I emphasise this is not necessarily the hotels fault, but I will bet that anyone who has ever stayed in those two rooms at the front have never booked them again. It’s the kind of thing you can’t know until you get there by which time it’s too late to do anything about but the owners should really give some thought to that because for us it really spoilt our stay and the racket continued all night on the Friday until after 11pm.
So I would recommend every other aspect of the hotel but only if I had a room at the back, no chance I would book the two rooms we had ever again.

Fantastic cooked breakfast, generous, and good quality.
Nice touches in the room, chocolates, real milk for the tea, Alexa device, attractive furnishings.
Some reviews mentioned church bells ringing every 15 minutes, keeping them awake....I didn't hear them at all.
All good

We had some sad things to attend to in the area, but the staff was lovely here, nice food, very good room, bed and shower facilities. Full heartedly recommended.

Fantastic place to stay. The room was spacious with everything you need, made to feel like staying with friends rather than in a hotel. The staff always went above & beyond, and were so helpful with recommendations for things to do or places to go. Whether breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink, the Cross Keys is a must visit or stay if in Sherborne. A big thank you to Mo and his team.

We are quite familiar with Sherborne but this was our first stay in The Cross Keys - what a delightful place! The central location is perfect, the welcome is heartwarming, the room is beautiful and the bed super comfy. We were allowed to check in early on arrival, which was a real bonus. Prior to dinner, we had a drink in the bar and the wine selection was excellent. The locals are quite chatty without making you feel like a DFL! Everyone was so welcoming and we won't hesitate to book again when we're next in the area.

The room was very stylish and spacious, in fact we had the whole of the upstairs which was great. Very comfortable bed. Sherbourne was very quiet on Easter Sunday but there were a few pubs and a good Italian restaurant that was open (Cross Keys shuts at 4pm on Sundays).

The room was like a suite overlooking the ancient market square. Very comfortable and warm.
Breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients, lots of choice, friendly staff.
Unfortunately we stayed on a Sunday and the kitchen was closed in the evening. But Silver lining - we ate at the Tamburino around the corner which we recommend.
On a Sunday one can park outside on the street till 9.30 on Monday morning, but otherwise parking is on one several lots around the town.
