About this house rental
This breathtaking and immaculately preserved craftsman home is located just minutes walk from the heart of Salt Lake. Enjoy the tranquility of a tree lined historic neighborhood with the convenience and freedom to walk to your downtown destination. The Space This beautifully preserved craftsman home, built in the early 1900's is part of Salt Lake's historic Marmalade district. The home itself boasts all the original architectural details that made it unique when it was first erected and that now make it a breathtaking piece of Salt Lake's architectural history. All of the original woodwork line the walls, the original fireplace remains untouched, many of the light fixtures are original, and the boiler heated antique bronze radiators remain intact and surprisingly efficient. Enjoy a taste of another time when you stay in this beautiful home with its formal dinning room, parlor, antique wooden staircase, and all the beauty of its unmatched architectural craftsman design. On the main floor the home is equipped with a front porch and a porch swing, a large formal entryway, a formal dining room, a parlor that has been converted into a TV room with a sleeper sofa, a small powder room half bath, and a spacious kitchen with back sun room and back porch. Up a beautifully preserved wooden staircase there is a large full bathroom and four separate bedrooms. All the beds are brand new and excellent quality mattresses. Each bed is protected with a freshly laundered protect-a-bed waterproof mattress cover. Guest Access Guests will have access to the entire upper two levels of the home including front and back porch. Basement is booked out separately. Interaction with Guests We are available to help with anything our guests require. We respond immediately should any questions or needs arise, but we respect the privacy of our guests while they are staying and enjoying the property. The Neighborhood Salt Lake City's Marmalade District was named so because early street names reflected the fruit-bearing plants and trees imported and planted there by its early residents. Settled in the early days of Salt Lake City, the Marmalade District is distinguished from other neighborhoods by steep, narrow, angular streets, mature landscaping and a surprising variety of vintage residential buildings. Within a single one-block area are almost as many styles of architecture as exist in the entire Avenues Historic District. Moreover, many buildings are considered to be among Utah's best examples of certain types of architecture. Today, the neighborhood stands as a modest, well-preserved, monument to the skill, taste, and resourcefulness of its pioneer inhabitants. Getting Around The home is just a 15 minute walk from downtown Salt Lake City. The local UTA Trax station is just blocks away. This locations is unbelievably ideal! House rules NO PARTIES. (Violation of this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the property and forfeiture of damage deposit) NO SMOKING. All gatherings with guests not included in the booking must be cleared with the host. Be respectful of neighbors and keep noise to a minimum. Small pets need to be cleared with host at time of booking.

A MUST stay
We loved this cozy downtown SLC home! Rhea was very accommodating with her VRBO, too. Plenty of towels, dishes, paper towels, toilet paper, bedding & blankets… will definitely be coming back. The home was very clean and spacious enough for 6 of us. Would recommend scheduling showers in the AM & PM for larger groups to get enough hot water. The location was perfect and very cheap to use Lyft & Uber if needed!! Would recommend to anyone!

Wonderful Stay in SLC!
We stayed at this property over the Thanksgiving holiday. I was worried about trying to celebrate and cook with family and friends in a VRBO. But the second I walked in the door, I knew I had chosen the perfect place. There was a beautiful holiday tree in the front room (thank you so much for the tree--it just made the front room feel so festive and warm).
The kitchen had everything we needed and the dining room seated all 8 of us comfortably.
The house is just as advertised--plenty of rooms and space to accommodate a large family/group.
Communication with the owner was prompt and easy. The house was really clean! There were lots of cozy throws to wrap up in and the beds were comfortable. Even though there is only one bathroom with a shower, it is so large and stocked with plenty of fluffy white towels that it wasn't an issue at all!
We were able to easily walk to the train station and to the downtown shops.
Many thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!!!!

Rhea and Jackson’s property was a great home base for our wedding weekend with family coming in and out of town at various times. The location is awesome and is walking distance to at least two coffee shops, boba tea, restaurants and even downtown SLC is technically walkable from here.
We are locals, so we knew the location would be great but the house was amazing and had just about everything we needed for a week long stay. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and would stay here again if we needed another stay-cation.
Side note: Our son’s skateboard did get stolen from the front yard during our two hour wedding. So I wouldn’t leave anything of value unattended out front.

Adorable Home!
This house was perfect for our group of 7! Not too far from our event at the Grand America Hotel. You could scooter to and from if you’d like! Super cute and cozy! We will likely try to book it again next year!

Beat you can’t find a cooler place.
We loved this cool old house! The location can’t be beat, can not recommend this place enough! Everything you would need to cook with, abundant bath towels, bed pillows I can’t think of a single thing that was over looked as far as what you would need for everyday living in a home. Thanks for keeping this old home alive it’s just really neat and I wish the walls could talk of its history 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Good times
Fun, eclectic house. The pillows were really stiff and really thick... solution: bigger pillow cases.
Good parking and overall happy with the experience!

Beautiful Older Home
This rental property was awesome! It was an older style home but it had so much charm. We all loved it and the home was extremely comfortable! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Great location as well. We even added an extra night to our stay :)

Perfect Place for SLC
A really great combination of old house features with modern conveniences. Terrific bed in master, didn’t try the others. Quiet street and easy distance to both Downtown and City Creek Park. If we were to move to SLC, we would gladly buy this house and live here!

Great location, fun old house
If you don't mind walking a few blocks, you can be downtown in about 10 -15 minutes without having to worry about the very limited and expensive parking. We were able to go to a Jazz game, shopping, a movie, temple square, and ice skating all without having to get in a car. It was fun to stay in an old house that was well taken care of. It makes you think about how people used to live. We had a great time. Thanks!

We loved our stay at this lovely craftsman home with its old world charm and modern facilities! The swing was my favorite for my morning coffee! The kid and the dog enjoyed the front yard. The husband loved the big screen tv! And we all loved the access to stores, dining, etc etc We would love to stay here again !

Quaint century old house in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City
We had a terrific time on our trip to Salt Lake City. We were skiing the local mountains with the Mountain Collective Pass. The house is centrally located within 40 minutes of at least half a dozen world class ski resorts. The house itself was very cozy and had old world charm. Downstairs there is large dining room, a half bathroom and a kitchen with all the necessities. The living room area downstairs has a huge flat screen tv with cable. Upstairs are four spacious bedrooms and a full bathroom. There is only one shower, so we had to alternate, but never ran out of hot water. The hosts were great communicators before our arrival, but they had everything set up so well, with clear instructions, so we had no need to contact them during our stay. The house itself is decorated with old style furniture and paintings on the walls. The TV area has a huge copper medalion on the ceiling. The beds were quite comfortable, and although I initially had some worries about the old style heat pump and radiator system, we were kept cozy warm despite the frigid temperatures outside.

A lovely house with room for everyone!
Several girlfriends and I were in SLC for a workshop. We rented this lovely house, that had plenty of beds/rooms for everyone. Everything was just as the Rhea had described, clean, well-maintained and quaint - absolutely no complaints! Thank you!

A Journey Back in Time
The family really enjoyed staying in this beautiful old home! The décoré of the home was lovely and peaceful. I chose this location because it was walking distance to downtown and literally minutes away from Salt Palace, in which my Graduation from WGU was held!! We had a fabulous time walking everywhere and enjoyed visiting the state capitol! What took us by surprise was that the state capitol can be seen from the master bedroom all beautifully lit up at night! We all had a great time in Salt Lake and plan to stay here in the near future again. Such a charming home.

Sweet Old House
We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful old house with lots of character. Everything was decorated marvelously and there were plenty of amenities. It was also a nice walk to dinner on the hill. We look forward to going back in the near future.

Great house. Great location
Great old house with lots of character. Extremely clean. Wonderful beds and linens. We came for General Conference and house was less than 10 min walk to the Conference Center. Easy walking distance to the capital.

Met our needs very well
Our group of geezers attend the NCAA Tourney every year. Our stay was excellent and greatly facilitated by proximity to the Vivient Arena. Needed a comfy non luxurious base and were rewarded. Great stay!

A wonderful home away from home
We absolutely loved this delightful home. Of the dozen or more homes we have rented across the country over the years, this was undoubtedly the best value. I will be reserving this house again just as soon as I know the dates of our next trip to SLC.
The home is very spacious. There are three large bedrooms upstairs - two queen beds and a king. There is also a smaller bedroom that has a nice set of bunk beds, with a trundle bed underneath, and an cute, cozy side alcove that contains a twin bed. If additional bedding is needed, there is a queen sleeper sofa downstairs. The bed I slept in had the most comfortable mattress I've experienced in decades.
The upstairs bathroom has a modern jetted tub (which is very welcome after a long day of skiing, climbing, etc.), but otherwise maintains the turn-of-the-century character of the rest of the house. It was extremely well stocked with a large selection of fluffy white bath towels, hand towels, and wash clothes.
When you enter the house you immediately feel like you've gone back in time a hundred years. It has been extremely well preserved with all the architectural details one might expect in a home built in 1909 (from stained glass windows to a pressed tin ceiling and so much more). It's absolutely charming. Yet it has all the modern amenities you're likely to want. The big screen tv is absolutely huge, with hundreds of channels, including HBO. And the wifi handled multiple devices streaming content at the same time without any noticeable slowdown in performance.
When I rented the home, Rhea always responded very promptly to my questions. We didn't experience any problems or questions so I only contacted her again when we arrived and when we checked out. In both cases she texted me back almost instantly.

Absolutely wonderful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home! It was in an ideal location with easy access to all the surrounding sights. It was so thoughtful to have the home stocked with food so we didn't have to worry about that when we first arrived that evening. My daughters were sure that the owners read their minds because they each had their favorite yogurt waiting for them! Although I had to warn my children that this was the exception to the rule, as no one usually has food waiting for them in a rental, and that these owners were just so thoughtful! All six of us (2 adults, 4 children) were very comfortable in this very roomy, well maintained home and would recommend it to anyone coming to Salt Lake City! We must also recommend the little restaurant around the corner at the end of the block, diagonal from the high school (I can't recall the name!), because the food was so good (the chicken gyro was delicious!). Thank you for a delightful stay!

Lovely house! Would recommend for a cozy stay
We fell in love with the house as soon as we walked in. There was a welcome note waiting for us on top of an endearing box of chocolates. The kitchen was even fully stocked with everything we needed for breakfast. Cozy and comfortable, with everything so neat and clean, we felt right at home! Be aware that it is an antique house so the stairs do creak quite a bit. The master bedroom lets in a lot of natural light due to the large window, so it was hard to sleep in past sunrise. But that could be remedied. Other than that, the bedding was beautiful and the quality of it was amazing. Rhea was wonderful and all her special touches won me over. This home provided more than what we expected!!!

Great place to stay
My girls were delighted with my choice of a fun place to stay and relax for a little while and we were all so comfortable and happy to be there. I had previously reserved a hotel but upon finding your rental, I chose to cancel those reservations- and I'm so glad I did! It was like stepping back in time for me as fond memories of spending time in my grandmas home entered my head. Such a delightful place to relax and enjoy the company of my daughters and daughters in law. Thank you for the yummy food, the very comfortable beds, the porch swing and lots of seating, and warm, cozy atmosphere. The neighborhood was beautiful and we felt safe there. So lovely. We really appreciated being in this home and are so thankful we chose to stay there instead of the hotel and may do it again in the future! Best wishes to you!

Full of Character
Our family of three loved our two day stay in Rhea's beautifully furnished house. It was nice that we didn't have to go out in the morning to get breakfast. We liked the location. There is plenty of private parking in the back and it was easy to get anywhere we wanted to from the house. The look and feel of the house has old charm with modern conveniences. Rhea stocked the house with unexpected extras and is a very thoughtful host. We would definitely stay here again.

The home was fantastic!!
I have stayed in homes around the world with VRBO and this was by far the best experience I have had. The home was more than we expected and the way we were greeted with a meal ready to eat and the ice box filled with our favorite drinks and foods was amazing. We will be back!!!

Nostalgic and Comfortable Stay Full of Surprises
This home in the Marmalade District was perfect for our vacation for so many reasons. The number one feature we appreciated was the proximity to Temple Square, a five minute drive, because we were visiting SLC for our son's wedding. Beyond that, the house exceeded our expectations in ambiance and amenities. Our hostess Rhea was very easy to communicate with, and permitted us to host a small wedding luncheon the day of the wedding. There were plenty of chairs and a large table to spread the cheese and crackers out, comfortable seating and a beautiful atmosphere to get to meet the wedding guests. On other days, we were able to drive to Temple Square to enjoy cultural hot spots and zip home for lunch because it was so close to downtown.
Additionally, Rhea provided all the food necessary for our family of 7 to enjoy breakfast on a number of days. The box of chocolates was just the beginning of our hostess' generosity.
The house was stocked with clean linens and most dishes/cookware a guest might need. We enjoyed several home cooked meals during our stay.
Please note that the house is indeed from the turn of the century, so there was no sneaking up and down the steps at night! The creaky stairs only added to the delightful charm of this residence. I don't want to give any secrets away, but future guests must take a peek in all the bedroom closets. Also, the swinging kitchen door was a fun nod to a bygone era.
Rhea decorated the house with an eye for detail. Many textured pillows and period furniture all complimented one another to provide a classic look. Even though it's an older home, there were updates where it really mattered, such as the whirlpool jet bathtub and modern plumping fixtures and dishwasher and nice oven, not to mention the great big television with all the wifi/internet/cable a person could need.
The ceiling medallions, original lighting fixtures and stunning textiles on all the beautiful and comfortable bedding only added that extra touch that made this home a gem.
Prospective guests may need to consider the single bathroom is up the stairs, and families with young children will want to bring their own activities for the kids to enjoy.
We can't recommend this property enough as an incredibly unique stay that made our trip to SLC memorable, comfortable and delightful. Thanks to Rhea for making this one of the best vacations we've ever enjoyed.
