Always a pleasure staying at Hotel D’urville with the beautifully appointed rooms and king size comfortable bed. The hotel is clean and located in the centre of town but very quiet. Great cocktail bar and restaurant located within the hotel. We enjoyed half price cocktails at the happy hour and the restaurant food was excellent.

Food was good and a great little pub at the venue with great cocktails
Room was cluttered and just felt awkward, no space to put stuff in tiny bathroom. The bed up the stairs was dangerous at night as the rooms are all painted black and lighting resultingly very poor, easy to fall down those stairs, also getting out of bed you could whack your head into the very low roof. All up it was interesting but not enough for a repeat stay. Staff were great.

Had some original features
Awful decor of purple for bedroom. Not in keeping with property . Looked nasty. Not enough shelf space to put toiletries of your own in the bathroom and unable to dry hair in front if a plain mirror

Wonderful Staff as in checking in after hours so great communication by Michelle. Great location and beautifully restored old building.
There was nothing that i did not like

Loved the bar. Room was nice decorated.
It was basically closed on Sunday.

Breakfast was continental as expected . We liked the happy hour drinks at 4pm, room was spacious and beds were comfy and clean. Was a nice with a lot of historical references plus central location to access wineries. Thoroughly happy with the whole stay. Staff was very helpful.
bathroom was cramped but can't change the layout of an old building. The fridge was not working, so couldn't store our food to keep cool but that's about it.

hotel was good but Blenheim is a bit of a disappointment, it lacked investment and was tried and old, which is a shame becuase of the amount of investment in the wineries it doesnt quite add up.
blenheim, wouldnt go back but it was handy for the wine tour location wise, hotel was nice.

Hotel D'urville is a quaint boutique hotel with history.
We were shocked to see that they were using the statue of God Shiva as a door stopper. God Shiva is respected and prayed too by Hindus across the world and the hotel is using his statue as a door stopper.
This was highly highly offensive - we complained to the staff at front desk too. This is extremely culturally and religiously inappropriate. The front desk lady was polite and mentioned that they were unaware - she apologized too. But nothing was done and statue of Shiva was still the door stopper by the time we left the property.
With a large thriving indian population in New Zealand, I am not sure if we are the first one who informed the hotel that they were disrespecting an entire religion but even if we were, I would have expected the hotel to fix their mistake immediately

Location
Was told that the bar and lounge would be available due to the kitchen being closed for remodeling. Neither Sunday or Monday neither was open. Very disappointing being we had an email saying they would be open for us.

Location is excellent and the Tiger Bar is lovely with great staff.
Blinds in the room letting all the street light in. Noisy seagulls nesting on the building nextdoor squawking all night.
We didnt eat the breakfast it was a pretty poor offering, no staff around, help yourself to make plunger coffee - not really good enough.

Decor was lovely, period features and tastefully decorated in every room

We stayed in room 9. Nice room and comfy bed. Good continental breakfast. Would be good if the staff could offer espresso coffee - not sure if it was available or not. Great bar and restaurant. Food is great and the cocktails are not to be missed. The building is amazing and well presented with a lot of the heritage features preserved. Loved the grand staircase and chandelier.
Bathroom. Bit tight and shower leaked under the door. The shower is too big for the room - maybe install a shower box with a sealed door. Everything else was really good.

Location - parking available at no cost - nearby good restaurants / walking distance
Bar was fun and good drinks
Breakfast was very good
Bed mattress a bit soft

Great location with friendly staff. Amazing old building.
The shower needs a shower curtain, water just goes everywhere when in the shower. The extra single bed in the room really makes the room feel cramped. But I understand this was the only room available at the time.

Room was really lovely with plenty of facilities and a comfortable bed.
There was no service when we arrived, as most of the town is closed on a Monday, would have been worthwhile that we were warmed in advance that Hotel wasn’t ‘properly open’. we had no way of getting in…
Breakfast was rather limited….

Location and cleanliness of the property. Located at a central location and used this hotel on the way to Picton to catch the ferry to Wellington. Restaurant and bar located in the premises is great and welcoming too.
French Provence interior in the bed room might not suit everyone but I certainly I liked the decor
