This was the perfect place for our family of four. A roomy home with bedrooms on 2 levels. Very quiet and private. If you are planning to visit South Canyon lands NP, Mesa Verde NP, Bears Ears,Indian Creek, or want to Golf you need to stay here.

View was great but could be better if you would cleaned up the area outside of home extreme fire hazard off the patio the outside of the house needs some improvement it wouldn’t take much effort to make it look like you were proud of it the inside was very nice

This place was Wonderful! We got snowed in for 3 days. The cabin was the perfect place to get snowed in at.

This is a private property with a great view of the Abajo mountains. It is a great base camp for exploring ruins, petroglyphs, national and state parks in the area. Ft. Abajo is a very comfortable home to come back to each night and they have an informative guide book to help you plan your days if needed. The town of Monticello is quieter than Moab, it had everything we needed, and it was nice to get out of the crowds.

The property was awesome. Unique location that was perfect. We enjoyed the sunsets, Mule deer and Wild Turkeys. Guest information notebook was so helpful. Best we’d ever seen.
Highest recommendation from us.

Ft. Abajo is a great place to relax and take in the wildlife and beauty surrounding you. As a golfer the beauty of the course with the mountain backdrop couldn’t be beat. This is not a bland hotel room but a home where you can see generations of families growing up.
The deer are all over and a big flock of young wild turkeys with their parents were feeding off the golf course while we were there.
A great location and Natural Bridges National Monument was a treat, hardly any crowds and nice roads in and out.
You cannot go wrong staying at the Fort.

Fort Abajo is comfy and cozy with sweet family vibes. It is convenient to a wide range of attractions, including National Forests, Monuments, & Parks. In addition, there are Native American historical and cultural sites to visit.

Great location. Felt secluded being on the edge of town. The views are amazing, overlooking the golf course with the Blue mountains in the background.
The place was very homey. Very clean. Will definitely stay again!

The location is stunningly beautiful. Glad it was dry, it could have been muddy.
Nice cabin, lovely upstairs bed linens. A few replacements (bathroom linens and porch chair) are necessary but overall a nice stay.

Great stay. This location is close to everything we needed. Shops in Moab. Hiking in Canyonlands and Arches. Native American ruins in Blanding area. House was comfortable. Liked the downstairs area with the TV. Downstairs was a bit cold but fireplace available. Lots of games available. Great collection of local rocks and fossils to look in the house.

We love this quaint home on the edge of town .

This was one of the best getaways we’ve had. We spent two weeks in SE Utah and used this cabin as our base to sightsee and do day hikes. The cabin has a wonderful mountain view right over the golf course. We watched the deer every day. It has everything we needed. This was a perfect location to visit the 4+ national park within driving distance. Highly recommend this property!

My family and I stayed at Fort Abajo for Thanksgiving week. We enjoyed our stay, the environment and the amenities. It was a good week to get away from it “all”!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 6 month road trip. We stayed in over 30 VRBOs in that time and this one is a keeper! Location is always key and we liked that it was central to so many areas we wanted to explore - and to have that fabulous view off the porch was meditative. All communication with the host was spot-on. There's an amazing book in the rental (2.5" thick) filled with great information about places to go and see. The kitchen had everything we needed. The internet was fast. The upstairs bedroom (only one we used) was great. Liked that we had 2 living rooms and work stations. You can just feel the essence of the love in that home from years of family time together. It is "retro", but we really, really loved it.

Great spot, well accommodated.

This was a great place in a perfect location for us. It was great watching the deer on the golf course. Everything was as expected. There are some personal items in the house, but it definitely didn’t feel ‘weird’ s others have stated. Be aware that the kitchen is small, but for us it worked perfectly.

Perfect Location
Our visit was short but we loved the property. One suggestion is to up grade the bathroom. It did the job but a bit outdated. Otherwise very cozy and relaxing. I would come back again.

Monticello Moment
Cute place with a great view that can get quite windy. Long narrow driveway, just mentioning in case anyone is towing a trailer like we were. Overall, very welcoming with the most sweet & detailed guest book.

Peace and quiet
We loved the location and quiet of the property. Off the beaten path with a wonderful deck overlooking a golf course. We saw more deer at the course than we did people! The home had everything we needed and was a great base for us to be able to get to the sites we wanted to see. We hiked Arches, Canyonlands, visited museums and ate wonderful food. . We will definitly be back!

The windy porch
We loved coming back to the cool breeze of Ft Abajo after hot hikes in Canyonland and Arches. We also enjoyed watching the deer feed on the golf course in the evenings.

Canyon Property
The house was secluded, as described with a beautiful view. The reason we gave it a 3 star is that the lower level has a distinct unpleasant odor, like burnt wood. We could not relax down there because of that. Consequently we used the living room on main level at night to unwind. There is no Tv in that room so we had to watch tv off our computer. Not convenient. We knew it didn’t say laundry but every vacation rental we’ve stayed at had laundry machines. I’d suggest they put one in. The beef was ultra comfortable!

A 1970’s flashback
While the house provided a beautiful view to the Abajo mountains, it was a flashback to the 70’s. The fixtures and appliances were as old as me and I’m 58. I appreciate being allowed to bring my dogs and that a vacuum and mop were there to use. I like to clean up after them. I would have appreciated a washer/dryer so that I could wash the dog towels. The place would benefit greatly from a good cleaning. The dust and cobwebs were pretty thick. The owners personal items were everywhere making the house uncomfortable and it difficult to really relax. Felt like we were intruding.
Based on past reviews, seems that the old decor and appliances, the lack of cleanliness, and the problems with to many personal items have been brought to the owners attention since 2016. Guess they don’t care.

Great view
Fun house and great price. Biggest drawback was drive to and from Moab everyday, but knew that when booking. Easy check out process and cozy cabin.

good option in blanding/monticello area
was a good base for hiking in cedar mesa, as described, instructions a little long for vacation brain but we got through it and had a nice stay, woke up to snow on the ground

Lovely view
Location a little far from parks, but we made the best of it. Cleanliness of kitchen could have been better...food caked on some utensils. Well supplied with kitchen necessities. Little hard to get in the door with code when arriving after dark. Our Six-year-old granddaughter loved her stay but the charges for her shouldn’t equal adult charges.

Canyonlands Getaway
Hate to say it was great because we want to go back and still find it available.
