We loved our stay at Exmoor Gate Lodges. Great facilities including private pool / sauna / steam room (extra charge) and private hot tub. We really enjoyed local play parks for the kids in Wiveliscombe and Wellington. We will be back!

It's a really nice scenic area and the lodge was clean.
The staff text you regularly with instructions which may take a while to get used to, but other than this and a random phone call at 10:30pm one night telling me off for turning off the wrong switch, we were undisturbed
I can see why the hot tub is the main attraction for most people visiting here. Just a warning though that there is also chlorine added so staying in more than 30 mins at a time may affect your skin and the flies like to kamikaze into the water.
Some issues:
All the knifes in the kitchen were blunt.
The deposit is £250 and not £50 as the email stated before the trip, it's not really clear when you get it back or when you know if you have passed the 'inspection'.
The electricity uses a coin meter.
The staff apparently check the hot tub at any time the day which when you read the booklet worries you that the staff are going to invade your privacy. I think though the staff came late one night round the back of the property to inspect but that was a little concerning to us valuing our privacy.
The laminated booklet in the lodge seems a bit out of date and hasn't been updated for some time.
There isn't that much walking places nearby that don't involve walking on a road as most of the land is private nearby.
The shower is electric and has very low water pressure, so you might find yourself in there for a while and electric vent wasn't working.
There is a feedback booklet which the staff encourage you to fill in before you leave, I thought I'd wait before getting my deposit back first before giving any feedback.
The refrigerator in the lodge was quite cheap and gave off a loud buzzing noise all day and night. It vibrated on the wall and floor next to the main bedroom.
If you want to use the sauna or swimming pool then this will also cost you extra, something else not mentioned until you arrive.
A handy price list is provided of how much everything costs if you break something is itemised in the booklet for you though. I would advise using the plastic cups at all times, just in case.

The hot tub was a nice touch.
Many of the facilities were poor or very low quality. So uncomfortable bed, poor kitchen facilities,

The lodge was perfect for a self-catering holiday. The kitchen was fully equipped, and all cooking utensils, etc, were perfectly clean.
The lodge was extremely clean and comfortable. We all loved the hot tub, and the kids loved the indoor pool. Lovely view of sheep and llamas outside our window.
There is plenty of parking for the car.
The staff are helpful and on hand if you need any assistance. It was great we could have a late check out for a small charge.
The location was ideal for Minehead, Haynes Motor Museum, and Go Ape at Haldon Forest.
