About this house rental

Ocean Estate on Penobscot Bay is a grand property in a stunning setting on Penobscot Bay, overlooking the hills of Camden, and facing west for the sunsets every night.
It boasts 9,500 square feet of incredible living space, 440 feet of waterfront, and 12 acres of privacy, lawns, and woods. Inside, large rooms, soaring ceilings, skylights, and open water views give a majestic feel. There is ample space for larger families and groups to relax, gather and entertain.
The living room enjoys tall ceilings with Wood Beams, along with a bar with an ice maker, refrigerator, and tub for ice and drinks. There is an additional smaller bar in the upstairs game room size pool table, ping pong table, and card table.
A sunroom offers even more space to spread out and has AC.
A professional, gourmet kitchen has every amenity that you can possibly think of, including a baking station. Very well stocked kitchen with large pots and pans for cooking to a crowd, large serving dishes, 1 6 burner gas stove, 1 jenn air stove with 2 burners and a griddle, warming rack.
There is a separate, formal dining room.
When it is time to rest, there is ample sleeping space with 6 bedrooms and a half baths. The master bedroom is on the main floor, private bath en suite and AC. The Main floor also has a half bath and an additional Full bath right inside the Mud Room. All bedrooms and the sun room have air conditioning which was installed in 2022.
The remaining 5 bedrooms and 3 baths on 2nd floor, and include a secondary living area. Ceiling fans are in every room. 3 TVs have Direct TV.  WiFi is also featured at the home. There is ample porch and deck space, where the rear waterside porch faces west enjoying spectacular sunsets.
There is a large, outdoor grilling area with both gas and charcoal grills, with granite serving spaces.
The grounds offer an expansive walking path running adjacent to the Bay, professionally designed to be a continuous blooming experience. So beautiful, it was featured in the Brooksville Garden Tour. The house has an elevated perch overlooking Penobscot Bay, offering fabulous views of the hills of Camden and the island of Islesboro.
Large sailing Clippers are a common sight all summer. A private beach is available on the property during low tides.  This has a steep access, so we recommend going to  Bakeman's Beach which is nearby to harvest your own mussels for dinner, easily launch your own kayak or small boat, or enjoy a rocky Maine coast beach experience. Water shoes are recommended.
The spaciousness and grandeur of this property make it perfect for large families, reunions, small weddings, and other events.
This home is been in our family since 1988 when our parents designed and originally built. We hope you have some wonderful family memories like we have over the years.

The roomiest house I've ever stayed in. Had more rooms than people. Scenic and remote. Not much to do but enjoy the outdoors and relax. No issues with wifi and cell service considering. About 1.2 hours to Bangor airport to grab arrivals and departures. Pretty much had everything you need at the house. Would definitely come back again

We had an amazing week! Everyone enjoyed the private beach at low tide and Bakeman Beach down the road. The views are breathtaking from both beaches! We all loved having our morning coffee on the deck or on the rocks at the edge of the water. We loved eating at Tinder Hearth in Brooksville (it was featured in one of The Lost Kitchen episodes). Make sure to make reservations on Monday morning of the week you want to go. Best pizza!! We loved all our day trips to Acadia, Stonington, Deer Isle, etc, but we loved hanging out at the house just as much as exploring the local towns. We definitely have it on our bucketlist to return one day!!

This is a great house for a large group. We had 12 total. The kitchen is huge and has everything to make all your meals - we did Lobsters twice with the outside set up. The kids enjoyed the upstairs with the ping pong - pool table and plenty of room to hang out. The porch is great to take in the ocean views - and the adults could enjoy a couple of different lounging spots. We got in the water easier at high tide and we brought wet suits. Blakeman beach is a great spot with berry picking near by. The preserve is an easy drive with some good hikes and plenty of spots to get in the water. Just be prepared to be isolated and far away and you will do fine. We also went to Acadia one day and also a few closer excursions. Blue Hill and Walker Pond are recommended. The ACs in the bedrooms help - but if it is above 85 - this is a hot house with the sun pouring on it. If there is a breeze - it will be better. This is a really great house to enjoy downeast Maine and Cape Rosier

Gorgeous views, very spacious and clean. Well stocked beautiful kitchen. However I felt it was misleading because it said it had water access and really it doesn’t because the shore is rocky and our kids weren’t able to go in the water. There is a beach that they claimed was nearby. It’s about 1.5 miles so we still had to drive and they didn’t provide any beach chairs. The kids enjoyed the beach though. . The bedrooms were outdated and the beds especially the twin beds were very uncomfortable and the carpets were outdated and stained. It still a great place for our family to stay, but very remote so probably wouldn’t stay so far away from town next time. It would have been a 5 star property if the bedrooms and beds were updated.

Beautiful location, but very remote.
Beautiful location, but very remote.
This house easily accommodated our large group of 12, ages 18-65. Plenty of space. It was very hot for our week in August, and the house doesn’t have central air conditioning. So it was a bit warm. The location is gorgeous but it is very remote. At least 45 minutes drive to the nearest store. Restaurants are over an hour away on winding country roads. So bring your own groceries and be prepared to cook. The house is well equipped, but the kitchen sink could use an update. The faucet was very poorly located and too small, so it was tough to wash large pots. The separate ice maker in the bar was really helpful. We were hot and thirsty and went through quite a bit of ice. No access to the water from the house. We went to Bakeman beach (1.5 miles away) to swim. We went hiking and kayaking almost every day. The best part was the lobsterman 10 minutes away. He sells lobsters every day from 4:30-5:30 pm on Cape Weir Road. Just pull down the drive and stay right. Walk out to the floating dock.
