Loved the location of this quiet cottage on secluded Cape Rosier - but close to destinations on Deer Isle and Brooksville/Castine. Chef kitchen and onsite laundry made the stay easy with a family. Will be back!

The hosts have decorated the historical cottage so as to make it charming. It's an older house and if you are bigger and/or older like me, you need to use some caution on the staircase. The whole area has a lot of small farms and I made use of the cozy kitchen several times to prepare meals with the booty I brought home from area farm stands as well as the Blue Hill co-op. The laundry at the cottage was convenient. Beyond area farms, there was a lot to see there in the area including Bakeman Beach, the reversing Goose Falls at the the southern edge of the Holbrook Island Sanctuary, Bagaduce Lunch at the reversing falls of the Bagaduce River, the wharf in Stonington harbor and the nearby Sand Beach. Despite being a coastal area that was first settled perhaps 200 years ago, it remains wonderfully unspoiled, and there are even a fair number of dirt roads to be found winding their way through the fields and forests adjacent to the coast. Don't be surprised if you see a deer or osprey or other wild creatures that still make their living just fine in this area of many islands and snug harbors lined by granite ledges. The region is a little isolated, but for those who like to explore natural places, that's also the best part, and I found that the more that I saw, the more it impressed me :-).

If you are looking for an authentic "Maine-Stay" this is it! Places like this add flavor to a visit to Maine and have become something of a tradition for me. The cottage is located on Cape Rosier in a lovely and quiet part of coastal Maine. If you enjoy hiking or kayaking, Holbrook Island Sanctuary is close by and several other great places to hike are within easy driving distance. The cottage is exactly what you'd expect for a small turn-of-the-20th century coastal Maine home. The home was clean and there were comfortable beds and furniture, and modern appliances. An AC would have been nice, if not necessary, for the 90F weather we had during some days of our trip. Both bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs and the stairs are also period Maine - steep and open. In my mind, this adds to the authenticity and charm, but for older folks, the stairs might be a bit daunting! Really loved our stay - the first trip to Maine for my adult daughter who was looking for some quiet time and a place to get outdoors and away from her medical residency program. She found both! We had a great time and our hosts, while never seen, were attentive to our needs, right down to the jar of Nervous Nellie's blueberry jam in the frig when we arrived! We hope to be back soon!

My family (husband and daughters 18 and 21 years old) completely enjoyed this cozy cottage. Loved all the amenities. Great kitchen which was important to us because we have dietary restrictions to work around. Outdoor shower extra bonus. Great location to explore the area. (Stop in Bucksport to get groceries on your way) loved our stay and would most definitely do it again.

Everything we needed for a wonderful coastal Maine vacation. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We took the host’s suggestions to visit some nearby spots like Bakemans Beach, Brooklin and Deer Isle, and are glad we did! We’d come back again for sure.
