About this apartment hotel
Miniloft Mitte's downtown studio apartments are located in a stunning, prize winning building that combines a new building with renovation of an existing structure from the nineteenth century. The architects/designers are also the owners of the apartment, and have their own apartment in the building with their family. Architecture buffs love it here!
This listing is for a studio apartment in the category "Extroverted".
We have a total of 4 different studio apartment types in our hotel: "Extroverted", "Introverted", "Classic" and "Compact". If you are not picky, you may enjoy the non-specific "flexible" competitive rate, where you will be booked into the best apartment available at the time of your arrival.
The apartments allow you full independence while enjoying your stay in Berlin in a unique atmosphere. The generous floor plan allows you to indulge in the modern luxury of pure space. The apartments are equipped with everything you need, and we provide all-organic products and cleaning supplies.
All major public transportation routes can be easily reached from this central location, and so many Berlin attractions are within walking distance (Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Alexanderplatz, Berlin Wall museum).
There are supermarkets and excellent restaurants and cafes within five minutes walk.
Here is a bit of our history:
The Building - Phase 1:
Britta Jürgens and Matthew Griffin, the architects who run the minilofts, also developed and designed the buildings.
The Miniloft building was built on the property Hessische Str. 5 in two phases from 2001 – 2004. It is a complex interweave of renovation and new construction.
When they bought the property in 1999, the rear wing which now houses the classic minilofts was a run down building from the 1890's typical of Berlin Mitte.
In the first phase the architects completely transformed the narrow original wing by renovating the existing apartments.
The Building - Phase 2:
In the second phase, the modern miniloft building (bender), was constructed in the overgrown bomb site at the front of the property. Its three bent stainless steel ribbons embrace the existing rear wing behind and navigate between the buildings on either side.
The building has received several prizes, and been internationally published in many magazines and books all over the world, from Canada to Japan and China.
THINGS TO NOTE:
As with all of the city center of Berlin, there can be some construction going on around us, although the apartments are well insulated, it is normal that during business hours some audible disturbances might occur.
*The suns shades that you see in the pictures don't work anymore and it is unfortunately not fixable but we have dark curtains to provide shades in the Extroverted lofts.
Story behind the sun shades fiasco is on our hotel website called the Miniloft Apartment hotel Berlin/Design and architecture/The Miniloft Process/Design of the hotel: Glazed crime thriller
*NO LATE CHECK OUTS AND EARLY CHECK INS. Please contact the management team via message for such requests.
*No Air conditioning.
*We have a sanded concrete floor with a rug in the living area and a sisal carpet in the dining area. For long term stay with toddlers , it might not be ideal.

We are all mature, experienced, travellers; this place was on a main tram and underground line. The apartment was clean, and the beds were comfortable. It had everything we needed for a week's stay. Communication with hosts ( who I believe are architects?) was efficient, prompt, and helpful. Great week in Berlin! Would stay there again!! :-)

This was our first visit to Berlin. The location is great since it is within walking distance of the main train station in Berlin (a quicker tram ride) plus it is convenient to a subway stope and tram stops. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and spacious. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, or a short tram ride away for more variety. We were very satisfied with the stay.

Miniloft Mitte was a nice place to stay for a couple nights in Berlin. Super close to public transportation to all the sights and the central train station. Would stay again!
4.8
This was a great place to stay while in Berlin. 10 minutes walk from the main train station Hbf, and then about 20-30 minutes walks to Alexanderplatz, Reichstadt and the Zoo, all through very interesting neighbourhoods with great restaurants and stores. Apartment was beautiful with all amenities

Great location that was amazingly clean and well decorated. Easy walk to many things!

Good transport links, good shops and restaurants in the area
Some road noise from Invalidenstrasse nearby

Renting this property was really easy. Straightforward process. Finding they keys is always an adventure with this type of rental. Not here. Easy to find. This unit is near several groceries, coffee shops, and local restaurants. The unit is modern and clean and was the perfect fit for our two week stay during the Christmas and New Year season.
4.8
If you want to be in the vicinity of the Christmas markets, this is a great option. Exactly as described.

The property was exactly as advertised and a really interesting property . We thoroughly enjoyed the close access to the underground, markets, and a great kebab sandwich right around the corner. Everything was clean and accessible. It was a great addition to our four day Berlin adventure!

Super apartment equipped with everything we needed for a weekend away. Comfortable beds and very cosy. No hot water the first morning and couldn’t find the welcome guide with further information but wasn’t an issue. Would definitely recommend.
4.8
The studio room was spacious and well fitted with everything needed for a simple stay. It's in a good location for visiting different parts of Berlin, well served by public transport.

Highly recommended. Very cool and clean. Great location.

The place was well captured in the VRBO listing. A really beautiful place. The only negative was that the day we arrived it was 34 Celsius and since the place is without air conditioning, it was a bit of a sauna.
4.8
Very comfortable and good location.

One of the best VRBOs we have stayed in! Highly recommended for a trip to Berlin.

We loved staying at the Miniloft. It’s in a great location and very quiet. The apartment is modern and secure. Matthew was very communicative and so kind. Just one note - the bed is really low...it would be difficult for someone with bad knees or a bad back to get down to or up off of. We loved our visit and hope to return to Berlin soon!

The apartments far exceeded my expectations. We were looking for a decent place to stay for 1 night while we were in Berlin for visa purposes. We hit on the apartments as an affordable place to stay with a good location. We were pleasantly surprised by the style and comfort of the place. The rooms are big, open and comfortable. The modern aesthetic was a refreshing update from traditional hotel rooms. I could have easily stayed for much longer and will definitely stay there again when coming back to Berlin.

Clean, Sleek and Central
Great service, including a very helpful brochure on the neighborhood, and a lovely styling apartment that's just as it appears in the photos!! A wonderful apartment -- and location -- to help enjoy your stay in Berlin.

Loved life at the Minilofts
Three of us were visiting Berlin and were so happy to have stayed in this complex. It is close to the main train station and on the bus line to Tegel Airport. There are food stores and great restaurants in the area. We able to walk around the city each day without needing any form of mass transit.
4.8
Excellent location with access via public transit, comfortable, and spacious feeling with the high ceilings.

Berlin in the Summer
We had a great stay at the miniiloft. Checking in and out was simple and communication with the managers (on site) was good. We were a little disappointed to get an apartment in the”old building” because there was no elevator and no AC. Definitely not as fancy as in the pictures on the website. We later learn from friends that most apartments in the city have no AC. This summer was particularly hot. The old building apartments don’t get direct sunlight and therefore the inside temperature was manageable and 2 small fans were provided. We could have used a larger fan. The apartment was spacious enough for us 3, clean and with a spacious functional bathroom. You can request a mat for the shower floor: do so it’s really slippery and you can easily have an accident. The mini kitchen was enough for fixing breakfast. The building has a washer and dryer downstairs which is not very practical when you have 3 floors of stairs to carry laundry around, so we skipped laundry while in Berlin. The location is perfect for visiting the city with easy access to public transportation, restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Because of the extreme hot we ended using Uber a lot. The Miniloft is a very good location at a fair price to stay in Berlin for few days.

Central and Comfortable
A very central location close to public transport and sights. The apartment itself was thoughtfully designed and well-fitted out. The staff are delightful - very helpful and speak wonderful English. All our needs were catered for. Definitely recommended as a place to stay.

Great location, unique spacious loft, nice people
Modern and unique loft with enough room for four, clean and friendly, easy communication. Great location with nice restaurants, bars, supermarkets nearby. We walked to all major attractions but there are a lot of different kind of public transport nearby. We lived our stay.

Excellent location in Berlin and excellent loft!
We had a wonderful time in Berlin thanks to our stay at the Miniloft. Andy and Estefania were wonderfully helpful. The loft was clean and had a great view of the street. There was no noise. The weather did not cooperate though, but Berlin has so many other points of interest that even with the wind storm we had things to do.
Thanks again to the folks at Miniloft for giving us a wonderful experience in Berlin.

Great place to stay in Berlin
Staying at the Miniloft apartments was a great decision. The building is so central to many sites in Berlin - such as the Reichtstag and Wall Memorial. The Natural History Museum is across the street. It was easy to get around since the streetcar was a block away and an easy walk to the Main Train station.
We stayed in a 'classic' unit on the 1st floor. While not one of the newer units, it was a very nice, clean studio that met our needs. The staff were very accommodating with our check-in/-out and payment.
It was also amazingly quiet at nighttime.

Modern apartments with all you need
Great location with the Airport bus stopping only 500m away. The apartment had everything we needed and more. Modern and spacious apartment. Friendly staff that responds instantly.

Happy Students
Booked Miniloft for a group of architecture students for the second year in a row. Both groups have come back super happy with accommodation. I will continue to use them in the future!
4.8
Spacious appartement in central location
Ideal location for sight seeing or the Berlinale, 'hip' loft with everything needed including kitchen equipment, very friendly staff
4.8
Modern spacious open plan studio apartment
Stayed in what would be considered a one bedroom studio apt. However with a couple of single beds and pullout beds can easily accommodate 4 persons. Modern and clutter free space. Excellent wifi. I stayed with my 2 daughters for 5 nights and found the location was excellent as it was near to public transport and only 25 mins walk from the Brandenburg Tor and Berlin Haptbanhof.
4.8
GREAT PLACE
This is a great place to stay - very comfortable. The price is reasonable and yet it was less than a mile walk to Brandenberg Gate.
4.8
Ideal base for Berlin sightseeing
The miniloft we stayed in was different to any other room/apartment we have stayed in before. Our teenager son loved it. Location was great, walking distance to main attractions, great local restaurants. Staff were there if you needed any help. Everything ran smoothly and the place was very clean. Nicely designed apartment.
4.8
a super alternative
for sightseeing or business travellers who don`t need expensive hotels services but like to be independent and close to a lot of attractive sites for getting a "Berlin feeling".
The apartments are spacious and well equipped with everything that makes everyday life comfortable. I like the the clear interior design.
