About this house rental
This remodeled lakefront three story home will make your vacation extra special with swimming, fishing and boating off of your private dock! Three kayaks are available for you to leisurely view the pristine nature and wildlife around the beautiful Nantahala Lake. This home is conveniently located near the Lake’s End Marina and Grill, Bartram Trail, Murphy and Cherokee Casinos, downtown Andrews, Franklin, Wayah Bald and white water rafting on Nantahala River. Sit on the deck with your family to drink coffee, play games and enjoy the ever-changing scenery.
This convenient but very private lake home sleeps six upstairs. The addition of the ground level studio with loft adds 1 additional sleeping space for seven total. Two bedrooms are in the main part of the house on the second level. One queen bed is in the master and one full bed and queen are in the second bedroom. A fold away cot is also stored in the second bedroom closet. A full bathroom is located on the second level. An open concept den, dining area and kitchen are on the first level. The laundry room and half bath are off of kitchen on the first level. The lower level of the house is accessed through a separate entrance and contains a lounging area with satellite tv, half bath, kitchenette and loft sleeping area (twin bed).
Walk to the bottom of the driveway then across Wayah road to your private 20'x20’ dock, swim ladder and kayaks! The lake levels are controlled by Duke Power and begin dropping at the beginning of fall. The dock will eventually rest on the sandy surface in mid to late November. Unfortunately, residents of lake Nantahala have no control in this matter. You can still enjoy fishing off the dock and deploy kayaks for water fun and beautiful views.
Rent a boat or jet ski at Lake’s End (1/2 mile drive) to explore the many coves and swimming areas. Go river rafting in Bryson City on the Nantahala River for more water fun!

Enjoyed our stay at a well equipped cabin that allows you to enjoy the views and the lake.

My husband and I came to the area for a wedding which was close by. The house has the most gorgeous view of the lake! The remodel is well done and the house is cozy and comfortable in the heart of the natural environment with woods and exotic flowers. It's so quiet! Wifi worked well in the house. Chris, is an exceptional host. He always answered questions and gave great, detailed instructions on arrival and things to do in the area. A great choice if you're heading to this area.

This place is a true gem. Private, relaxed, peaceful…in a word….perfect! I can’t wait to stay here the next time.

Cabin location was just right for our family. Views were beautiful and kitchen was equipped with everything. Couldn’t get the fireplace to work but everything else was wonderful! Highly recommend.

What a nice spot to disconnect and get away. Great views all through GSMNP and Nantahala National Forest. We luckily timed the peak fall colors perfectly. Cold in the mountains this time of year, but despite the crisp weather we still had a great time.

The cabin has a warm and cozy feel with a great porch for enjoying the elevated views over the lake. Very close to the Lake's End Cafe and Marina. Crossing Wayah Rd to the dock is not a problem as traffic is always minimal. Had a great stay

Almost don’t want to let others know so I can keep dates open for myself! Awesome property, cozy- decorated nice ( not just odds and ends thrown in there) master bedroom bed is SO comfortable. Easy access to kayaks and dock although you do have to walk down stairs ( maybe not ideal for some) . The dock is so peaceful and really the pictures don’t depict the calmness that you feel when sitting out there. We even sat out in a rain shower just to really be able to enjoy the serenity. Hosts were very accommodating and easy to communicate with ( even for minor questions) …. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time! Check in/out was on easy and everything was as pictured on VRBO. The Lake house and dock was perfect for our family of four and the views of Lake Nantahala from the house and deck were amazing. Boating on the lake gave us the opportunity to explore and appreciate how beautiful the entire area really is. The home was recently updated and has a beautiful new kitchen and appliances even 2 coffee makers. Most nights we grilled on the deck and enjoyed the sunset views on the dock. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you to our host, Chris, we had a WONDERFUL time!!

Great Summer getaway
A great place to beat the summer heat! We enjoyed our stay at this house. Location to the lake was great.. We got in the lake everyday. Cooked all our meals in the kitchen and my kids even made me a birthday cake from scratch! Spent a day visiting Murphy and Franklin. River walk in Murphy was worth the trip. Went to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest too, this was a nice day trip. I would say the stairs were kind of steep going up to the house, you cannot tell this from the pictures , upstairs in the house and down to the dock. I had considered bringing my dad who is in his 70’s and was glad it did not workout he would have had trouble with these. We were fine with them but just a note of caution. Also the loft and basement room I thought were accessible from inside the house as well as had its own entrance but it is only accessible from its own entrance door from outside the house. I private area for an extra guest but we though one of our kids could stay here but we’re not comfortable with them not having direct access to the interior of the house with our having to go outside and upstairs to the deck then in the main entrance. Would be great for privacy if you had extra person with you that wanted that.

Exactly what we were hoping for
This was an excellent experience, from the property itself to the management process. The lake was so beautiful, the house was Lake decor perfect, and working with Chris to book it was so easy. The check in/out instructions were very clear. I would recommend buying floats for the lake before arriving. The nearest grocery store in Andrews is 30 minutes away, and the nearest Walmart to buy floats was in Murphy which was 40 minutes away. Once you have groceries, you will not want to leave the property. We will be returning! :-)

2nd time to Lake Nantahala. House was clean and comfortable. The location/view is amazing. We were there celebrating my daughter graduating from high school. It was me, my wife, and my 2 teenage daughters. The house was perfect size. The downstairs portion (which has a completely separate entrance) would only be appropriate for an older teen or young adult to utilize. The kitchen was very well stocked. Grab all your groceries on the way in. Closest store is about 25 minutes away. Gas grill on the upper deck was nice and clean and worked perfectly. We rented a pontoon boat from Lakes End Marina which is only a mile away. This marina also has a restaurant that we found to be very good. Kept the boat for 4 days at our own dock which was super convenient. We did a lot of tubing and knee-boarding. No luck fishing although we tried, tried, and tried. Spent a day at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) whitewater rafting and it was superb. The NOC is about 30 mins away and it's an easy drive. As others have commented, you do have to cross the road to get to your private dock, but we didn't find it to be an issue at all. I highly recommend renting this house to small families. And I'll say it one more time, the views from the deck are breathtaking!!

Communication was fluent and owner was very responsive throughout the process. The property was perfect for our family- enjoyed fishing, kayaking and hiking near by. Brought all food for the four days, thankfully, as you are somewhat secluded.. Note the marina restaurant is not open on Monday’s. Scenery is perfect and everything we could ever want or need was there. We loved our stay!

Stunning views from this great lakeside house! Clean, easy access to everything the Nantahala region has to offer. And the 4th celebration on the lake was super. Highly recommend for group of 6 or fewer.

Absolutely immaculate!
We enjoyed a lovely time in this sparkling clean home! I'm not sure we've ever stayed in a cleaner VRBO. And we've stayed in many.
You can sit on the porch and hear the gentle waterfall that runs through the national forest that literally borders the property! There are nice upgrades in the kitchen and it was well stocked for this always cooking family. The flora and fauna around the home are beautiful. The views are amazing (complete with a bald eagle's nest across the lake!). We spent hours just sitting and watching the wonder of our view. The owner was incredibly responsive, kind and accommodating.
The only drawbacks for us - very squeaky beds in the second bedroom and a dying ceiling fan in the master bedroom; Painfully slow wi-fi (but we weren't there for the technology, we just had a kid who had to turn in an assignment online); The road in front of the home (that you must cross to get access to the lake) was surprisingly busy and often noisy with motorcycles and trucks; The porch that provides the incredible views could be more comfortably furnished.
I wouldn't count the basement as an option for sleeping. Maybe a teen would choose it, but no adult I know would and the separate entrance makes it a no-go for a child. It wasn't a big deal to us, but it's worth noting.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this spotless, charming mountain lake home and it's proximity to the boat launch, trails and must visit sites such as the Wayah Bald tower. Don't count on quickly picking up what you may have forgotten. You are truly in the mountains with little access to groceries nearby. But, that's part of the beauty! We would absolutely recommend this rental to a small, adventurous, but careful, family.

Although we really enjoyed the house we felt that the listing didn't give us an accurate description of the lodgings. We suggested this trip to friends and were very disappointed to see the cellar was counted as bedroom.

This is a beautiful and newly remodeled home right on Nantahala Lake. Even though it's remodeled it still has a cabin/country feel with the decor, and gas fireplace. With us being from a larger city we definitely enjoyed the peace and quiet here. It was very refreshing. Being on the lake with 3 kayaks provided is also an awesome bonus! Just be sure to stop at the store on the way in, as the nearest larger store is about 30 minutes away. Chris was awesome to book with, and made the check in very easy for us. He provides all the info you need for check in, and is very responsive to questions and concerns. We will definitely be back!

Cute House on Lake Nantahala
The house and property (and dock) is very well maintained. The check-in instructions were easy and just as described. The house and basement loft were very clean, and my friends and I felt really comfortable. There are three kayaks that are available for the renters to use. My friends and I enjoyed exploring the lake and relaxing on the dock. It was easy communicating with the property manager as he promptly answered my questions. If you are looking for a low key, relaxing vacation with great views, I would definitely recommend staying here.
