Very nice overnight stay, close to light rail and central with a great view.

Loved the room, came with a lovely view of central railway as requested. The room was beautifully clean and spacious with a large very comfortable bed. Very pleassant overnight stay Thank you.

We had a great stay at The Great Southern, can’t wait to do it again

The location was fantastic a three minute walk from railway station to hotel and the light rail stop was virtually across the road. Getting around the city was a breeze. The meals were great, good value as was the bar and service was very good.

Good location, cost ok but probably won’t be back

Location

Pillows felt like it was just rocks stuffed inside of the cases, bed lumpy. Shower did not appear very clean brown stains on the floor, black spots through the grout and tiles. Could hear people clearly from the street like the windows were open but they weren’t nor could they be. Staff at check in and departure were rude especially when we didn’t know which room they stored our bags in(we dropped them off before check in and didn’t see where they were put, they were tagged and then we were told “just leave” same when we checked out early but needed to leave the bags for a bit). Lifts and stair made it seem like a maze, looks like an updated building with a lot of old stuff left behind, two very hotels squashed into one

Great Locations great price would stay again

Very convenient location close to everything wonderful friendly helpful staff great meals. Central Station is a 3 minute walk and trams right at your door.

Suited our needs very well.

Our initial room was very noisy with school students nearby on same floor. We were moved promptly. Our bags were also stored on our early arrival from overseas and again on our departure by bus. Very helpful staff.

4 pillows would be good. But overall you get what you pay for here.

Couldn't expected anymore, it was terrific.

My husband and I have stayed there on numerous occasions and the beds have been comfortable for us, location is excellent for us and the rooms have no trouble at all.

Only once did we find we had no bath mat in the shower which was disappointing but we over came that as we were only there for the one night

Value for money stay

Great value breakfast. So close to Central station, light rail & buses. Paddy's Market & Chinatown close by also. Plenty of places to eat, including at the hotel itself.

Personally I thought the bed could do with an upgrade. Probably OK for others. Air con difficult to keep on required temperature.

Comfortable hotel right in the heart of the city provided excellent hospitality.

Everything we need is located within the hotel. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

The bed could be a little softer, but was not too bad.

Location, Service, Value and Style

Fantastic location: a stone's throw to the light rail and not much further to Central Station. Close to heaps of restaurants and convenience stores. However, it was really quiet. The staff are efficient and friendly. The art deco design is gorgeous.

The room temperature seemed to be centrally controlled and I don't like that.

The room and bed were very comfortable. Great location being so close to Central station and the light rail. Very convenient having the hotel there for eating.

I stay at this hotel often & this time was below expectations!

Close proximity to work

Stayed in an adjoining room & could hear my neighbours through the closed door. Not good when I needed to sleep & rest fir work the next day. The larger pillow smelt like it hadn’t been washed or needed a new one. It smelt strongly of human odour.

Fantastic value for money!

I have stayed in this hotel prior to this visit. It is great value for money and so convenient for transport to any part of the city. Would not stay anywhere else. Staff are great and helpful and room has all the facilities one requires.

Can’t think of anything as far as I am concerned.

Good Location but everything else is passable

The location is fantastic. Walking distance to major tourist attractions like darling harbor, opera house, sydney eye, and all the major markets.

Washroom was terrible, very small and suffocating. Even the quality of water in the shower was not upto standards.

Eine gute Unterkunft in guter Lage

Das Zimmer war klein aber sauber, Frühstück konnte man dazubuchen und war reichhaltig und sehr gut. Die Betten waren ok. Die Lage sehr gut, direkt neben div. Haltestellen, nicht weit vom Bahnhof entfernt. Mit der Straßenbahn war der Hafen gut zu erreichen.

Excellent as always, we have stayed quiet a lot in the past 18mths

Location to train station and Sydney theatres.

Needed to ask for extra blankets in room & the TV had subtitles that we could not remove.

The hotel is in a great location, a fair price and friendly staff. Check I was quick and easy. Booking was easy,

The room was a little tired with lots of marks on the walls etc. Pillows were pretty bad, would be nice to have a better pillow.
