Lovely staff, location and was able to park outside the guest house at no extra cost.

Excellent Breakfast and good location.

The sittings for breakfast. As it is only a small guest house there are two breakfast sittings so you have to be quick in choosing your sitting. However there is a note saying if you can’t get the sitting you want they will try and accommodate something. On a positive note the breakfast is excellent.

Clean, comfortable and convenient

It was easy to check in and parking outside (via permit) made it really convenient. Room was lovely and equipped with kettle, TV, hair dryer, sink and plenty of storage for clothes. We had a shared bathroom which was very clean and easily accessible. It was easy to request more towels or tea and coffee if needed. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice - you certainly didn’t go hungry! Staff were lovely too. It was a short walk into York but lots of restaurants nearby if you wanted something quieter! Would definitely stay again!

It was very clean and the breakfast was very nice, the location was great with a short walk to the centre.

The Covid restrictions are still in place, this meant we didn't see any of the staff until breakfast the next morning. There was a key safe that we were emailed the combination to this was how we got our keys. There were several hand sanitiser units in the property but all were empty.

Clean & friendly Guest House

We travelled by train, easy to find & only 15mins walk from the station. The Minster was 25mins walk; 7.30am morning prayer & communion were a beautiful & peaceful experience there. Host Helen was friendly. Plenty of options at breakfast. Rather wet break so it was a bonus that the cinema was closeby. Also took advantage of the land train from Railway museum to Minster. Enjoyed walking through the Micklegate.

Room3: Totally understand it's a compromise as property is old. Room has a shower & toilet ensuite but sink is in the bedroom. Would prefer bathsheets rather than standard sized towels. Toilet seat didn't stay up.

A sweet, small, lodging.

It is a classic British lodging. Iconic. Lovely. Kind, professional staff. Big breakfast — and good! Clean.

A bit loud outside my small upper window (w/ no view) — still, it was fine. No lift, but I didn’t need it anyway.

Helen was absolutely a delight. Very attentive and helpful.

Breakfast was excellent. Had both a breakfast bar with cold selections and then a lovely cooked breakfast as well. Room was a little tight with the twin bed configuration but we wanted an en suite room so that made up for it. We picked this location as it was only a short walk to our cousin's house so it was perfect. Free parking is an absolute plus

Duvets. Prefer a light blanket but i know duvets are popular in UK

very pleasant. easy walking distance to the centre of York. Helen and the team were extremely organised, friendly and polite. Room was exactly as described, clean and very quiet.

The Farthings was the ideal place for my long-weekend, birthday getaway.

Breakfast was divine, location was so convenient (and not super touristy), the staff were so accommodating. Couldn’t have asked for a cozier stay.

Large comfy bed, warm, clean room and a good fresh breakfast.

The lack of conversation from the owners. Self check in was good for us, but during breakfast when we saw the owners they didn't ask us if our room was okay or is everything okay. It would have been nice if they'd introduced themselves because two ladies served at breakfast, an older one who was abit 'straight to the point' and didn't say good morning and the other just asked what we'd like for breakfast. Other guest houses we've stayed in always ask if we've had a good day or what are you doing today? The atmosphere at breakfast was a bit weird too! Didn't feel very welcome to be honest.

Enjoyable and excellent location

I liked the organization, I was messaged just before our visit explaining everything. Was easy to find and we knew excatly what we had to do. The breakfast was prompt and had the option of two different time slots. Was really yummy and plenty to eat.

Lovely charming B&B with great breakfast in fantastic location.

Love the charm of this B&B. It feels cosy and doesn't give you the chain hotel vibe. Breakfast was lovely and the landlady is extremely helpful. The location is amazing if you want to walk into York. Another huge plus was the free parking on the street.

There is not much we didn't like apart from our mattresses being very tired and uncomfortable. I believe even a memory foam topper would make a big difference.

would 100% recommend

the property was a good distance from the city centre, we were able to check in during the evening independently which we loved! The host was lovely and I thought the breakfast orders was very easy and was beautiful both mornings. was very clean and loved the little touches. Room 5 was great very big and the bed was so comfy and en-suite which we didn’t realise,

There wasn’t really anything only suggestion would be the tv in the room didn’t have the best signal and was tiny but it didn’t affect our stay and wasn’t an issue
