Romantic, traditional. Would stay again (with lighter/smaller suitcase)

We booked the Romantic suite with private terrace. It was an amazing view. The room was spacious with furniture and decor that was generations old (very tasteful). Modern bathroom despite the old building. Breakfast served on the private terrace- amazing spread- quantity was too much though for the 2 of us (I felt bad for not finishing the food). You can walk all the island by foot. The room had two sets of doors for good wind and noise insulation.

Only downside is the main stairs that are narrow and steep. No lift. Ensure that you can carry your suitcase; that it is not too heavy. Luckily, my partner was able to carry my suitcase up; but it was a challenge even for him.

Loved this place.

The location was excellent, close to all attractions and was in a quiet part of the town, the staff went out of their way to help and were very informative and friendly.

The only thing that I didn't like and I'm not trying to be picky, but the pillows were so flat and soft and gave no support which made sleeping uncomfortable.

Location was great and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the third floor and the place doesn't have an elevator. The place was clean, but some areas like below the wardrobe and other furniture were full of dust.

Stunning property - very comfortable and accommodating with a great sea view - highly recommend

Stunning property. Loved the antiques!! Gorgeous furnishings. The suite room was perfect. Very clean and comfortable and it had all you needed. Beautiful little balcony overlooking the sea. Loved the tiles and cacti. We had a wonderful breakfast outside. The shower was excellent and comfortable bed. The staff Simona and Laura were fantastic- we had Laura attend to us during our stay; who was exceptional! Very helpful and accommodating. She helped us with the parking and recommended great places to eat out at a reasonable price. She also helped us prepare breakfast for our early check out. Very cosy and welcoming place. Highly recommend. We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Wonderful stay in beautiful Siracusa ❤️🇮🇹

The location was exceptional, breakfast was delicious - a selection of pastries, cheeses, meat, bread, juices, coffee and fruit. the staff were friendly, helpful and provided great recommendations. My room was clean and comfortable.

The property doesn’t have a lift, so travellers with limited mobility or heavy luggage should be aware that the rooms are located upstairs.

Good location but disappointing stay for the price

Clean, helpful staff and good location

The room was very small. just enough space to open one suitcase. I got a room with a balcony which I thought would overlook the port. The “balcony” had no patio just doors that opened with a railing. It was in the fine print that this room had a “city view” - it overlooks a road, I would not call it a view. it should be made clearer on the Room selection “room with patio and port view”. There was a lot noise at night and in the morning when they were emptying the garbage. The place that is called B&B Porta Ortigia but you have to pay extra to get the breakfast. A B&B is a bed AND breakfast. They should rename it a Guest House. Finally they indicate they have parking but it is public parking near the hotel and spaces are hard to get so you may end up having to park 15 mins away by foot.

Excellent from start to finish. I would definitely stay there again

The staff and location were superb. We stayed in the room with the terrace and had excellent breakfast served there. The views were jaw droppingly great too.

Lots of stairs to climb but I guess you need to get the terrace viws.

Exceptional

As Bed and Breakfast owners, we really like this place. The hostess was very sweet and helpful. The bed was one of the best. The local couldn't have been better. Highly recommend staying here.

Romantic suite with best view in Ortigia

Host Simona and especially her assistant Laura were super helpful and welcoming. The terrace view pictures are from their top floor suite which has a lovely comfortable bed and stunning views. Breakfast was lovely and offered a great selection of Sicilian specialties.

Wonderful stay. Ortigia will live long in the memory.

Excellent location on the Island of Ortigia. Lovely B&B with everything within walking distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only stayed a couple of nights to see the local sights and it served its purpose very well. Would use it again, Very good value.

Room was a little on the small side (pretty sure that all the rooms are different) but it was more than adequate.

location was good, on site staff was very nice and answered all our questions…even packed up our breakfast when we slept in late after the wedding! bathroom was big!

pictures are deceiving…there is no veranda to go out on…even if you book seaside room…room was crowded with dark oversized furniture. no space to sit and relax as shown in photos

Best location in Ortigia! Really perfect for a romantic getaway.

Location is perfect! The room is just the right size for a couple. View is stunning. Breakfast is displayed very nicely. If there is anything small/additional you need with breakfast you can ask and they will try their best to accommodate. Host was lovely.

The fridge was tiny and under stocked.

Overpriced and lack of hospitality

Overpriced and lack of hospitality Staff is unfriendly and not at your disposition. Don’t expect someone to help you carry your luggage up the steep staircase if you are of a certain age. The rooms to the seaside have a nice view on the ocean and the harbour, but take into consideration that in front of the hotel is a major road and a large parking lot, so you will hear cars and door-clapping all night long, as well as the parking lot is a preferred place for groups to spend their time, singing and drinking all night long. Don’t get mislead by the pictures of the nice balcony in the advertisement, which is exclusively reserved to the suite and locked by key. The other balconies are ridiculously small and of no use at all, here also the pictures are largely misleading. The walls to adjacent rooms are of poor sound insulation, so you can passively take part in all kind of nightly conversation or if you have sexually active neighbours you can spare a dime on the blue movie channel.

Don’t expect courtesy from part of the hotel. We asked for a kettle to make ourselves a cup of tea, answer was no. We had an early flight home, so we asked if we could have breakfast half an hour earlier, answer was no. Complaining about this to the director lead to that we received a kettle, but with the comment that this would be a major exception and that this was generally forbidden because of the valuable furniture in the room. Not without good reason because the valuable table in the room was already stuffed with beverages offered for sale by the hotel. Also in consequence of our complaint we got our breakfast half an our earlier, but we were only presented a cup of coffee, not even a croissant or sandwich for the road, though we paid for the breakfast, and breakfast was already prepared. The breakfast-room is tiny and there is almost no distance between the tables so that there is not a minimum of social distancing possible in covid-times. On the other hand guest are due to covid rules (which seem only to apply in this hotel, because during our Grand Tour of Sicily we did never come across these rules) not allowed to touch anything on the buffet eg. to refill a glass of water or juice. This will be done by the staff wearing latex gloves, but at the same time the staff touches with the same gloves also everything apart of the food from the buffet as for example personal cellphones or computer keyboards, which are known as sources of all kind of bacteria and viruses not only Covid. Our summary is that we regret to have chosen this establishment for our wedding anniversary and on the other hand we were lucky to come across the typical and well-known Italian hospitality in all the other hotels we stayed in during our trip which can be seen in the positive evaluations we gave without exception.

Absolutely amazing B&B! Highly recommended!

Great location, super cozy room (the romantic suite with own balcony and sea view)! Amazingly friendly staff helped with everything from parking registration to tips of what to see, where to eat, where to have a drink and even helped us book a table in the restaurant of our choice. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and parts of it varied every day. Served on our balcony. One couldn't ask for more. :)

Very good

The location was fantastic and Ortigia was magical. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast due to Covid procedures. There may be specific regional requirements, but other places we stayed in Sicily still offered breakfast, so that was a surprise. The parking was easy to find and the owners were friendly.

Simona is a wonderful host. So very helpful, accomodating, and a lovely lady. She steered me through some minor bumps I had along the way, prior to my stay. I so very highly recommend B and B Porta marina.

It would have been really nice to have had at least coffee on the premises, in the mornig. I realize covid has taken turns in day to day operations, but really would have been a lovely asset for AM. coffee to have been provided.

My favorite BnB of all time.

This was easily one of the best accommodation experiences I have ever had - all because of Porta Marina and Simona. She went above and beyond to help me- honestly don’t know if I could have done the trip without her! She helped me figure out how to take the bus directly from Palermo to Siracusa, even sending me the link, and saving me 2 hours by not taking the train! Then I got in, and I was attending a wedding - she helped me book a manicure appointment, a COVID test, and even helped me get ready! The BNB itself is charming and clean with fantastic wifi - I took multiple meetings with the US there flawlessly. The location is great, and Simona gave me tons of recommendations and my own personal tour of what I should do since I had a short day with the wedding. Honestly - the whole experience was wonderful and I would 100% recommend staying here! I hope I can come back!

Charming place in the heart of Ortigia

We loved the hospitality, the very useful tips about local highlights. The host was very nice and helpful. The location was excellent, close to the centre of Ortigia and in a charming neighbourhood.

We could at times hear the sounds from the street and other guests,however it wasn't so disturbing.
